The purpose of this study is to explain theoretically the mechanism of the frequency-dependent apex locator which can detect the apex of the root in moist canals with blood or other conductible canal irrigants. The frequency-dependent apex locator is based on measuring the ratio of the two impedances of the two alternating currents with different frequencies. We analyzed the changes of the ratio between the two impedances by using differential calculus. Our analysis shows that : 1. When the file is in the moist canal, the ratio between the two impedances is almost constant. 2. As the file approaches the apex of the root, the ratio decreases sharply. By this mechanism, the frequency-dependent apex locator can detect the apex of the-root quite accurately in moist canals.
Positive selection on a new beneficial mutation generates a characteristic pattern of DNA sequence polymorphism when it reaches an intermediate allele frequency. On genome sequences of African Drosophila melanogaster, we detected such signatures of selection at 37 candidate loci and identified "sweeping haplotypes (SHs)" that are increasing or have increased rapidly in frequency due to hitchhiking. Based on geographic distribution of SH frequencies, we could infer whether selective sweeps occurred starting from de novo beneficial mutants under simple constant selective pressure. Single SHs were identified at more than half of loci. However, at many other loci, we observed multiple independent SHs, implying soft selective sweeps due to a high beneficial mutation rate or parallel evolution across space. Interestingly, SH frequencies were intermediate across multiple populations at about a quarter of the loci despite relatively low migration rates inferred between African populations. This invokes a certain form of frequency-dependent selection such as heterozygote advantage. At one locus, we observed a complex pattern of multiple independent that was compatible with recurrent frequency-dependent positive selection on new variants. In conclusion, genomic patterns of positive selection are very diverse, with equal contributions of hard and soft sweeps and a surprisingly large proportion of frequency-dependent selection in D. melanogaster populations.

Optimal damping layout of the constrained viscoelastic damping layer on beam is identified with temperatures by using a gradient-based numerical search algorithm. An optimal design problem is defined in order to determine the constrained damping layer configuration. A finite element formulation is introduced to model the constrained damping layer beam. The four-parameter fractional derivative model and the Arrhenius shift factor are used to describe dynamic characteristics of viscoelastic material with respect to frequency and temperature. Frequency-dependent complex-valued eigenvalue problems are solved by using a simple resubstitution algorithm in order to obtain the loss factor of each mode and responses of the structure. The results of the numerical example show that the proposed method can reduce frequency responses of beam at peaks only by reconfiguring the layout of constrained damping layer within a limited weight constraint.

When the transient current with high frequency components such as lightning surges are injected the grounding electrodes, the performance of grounding electrodes should be evaluated as grounding impedance. It is restricted to analyze the grounding impedance by measurement approach since the grounding impedance is very different with the shape and size of grounding electrodes, resistivity and relative permittivity of soil and the frequency component of the injected current. So a variety of simulation approaches have been developed. Typically, the soil resistivity measured with low frequency and relative permittivity between 1 and 80 are used for simulation of the grounding impedance. However, the resistivity and relative permittivity of soil are changed with frequency of injected current. In this paper, the frequency-dependent resistivity and relative permittivity of soil are measured and these parameters are reflected in the simulation of the grounding impedance of a ground rod. The simulated results are compared with the measured results. As a result, the simulated results with frequency-dependent soil parameters show capacitive aspect like measured results in the frequency of lower than 100[kHz] and they are more consistent with the measured results in wide frequency range.

This paper presents a frequency-dependent cell impedance analysis chip for use in cancer and normal cell discrimination. The previous cell impedance analysis chips for flowing cells cannot allow enough time for cell-to-electrode contact to monitor frequency-dependent impedance response. Another type of the previous cell impedance analysis chips for the cells clamped by membranes need complex sample control for making stable cell-to-electrode contact. We present a new impedance analysis chip using the microchamber array, on which a PDMS cover is placed to make stable cell-to-electrode contact for the individual cell trapped in each microchamber; thus achieving frequency-dependent single-cell impedance analysis without complex sample control. Compared to the normal cells, the magnitude of NHBE cells is $60.07{\sim}97.41k{\Omega}$ higher than A549 cells in the frequency range of 95.6 kHz~2MHz and the phase of NHBE is $3.96^{\circ}{\sim}20.8^{\circ}$ higher than A549 cells in the frequency range of 4.37 kHz~2MHz, respectively. It is demonstrated experimentally that the impedance analysis chip performs frequency-dependent cell impedance analysis by making stable cell-to-electrode contact with simple sample control; thereby applicable to the normal cell and cancer cell discrimination.
Frequency-dependent electrical properties of $C_{22}$-Quinolinium(TCNQ) LB films were investigated in a frequency range of 10[Hz]-13[MHz] along a perpendicular direction. The films were heat-treated to understand an electrodynamic response in a temperature range of 20-240[.deg. C]. Frequencydependent dielectric constants show that there are two characteristic dispersions; one is a dispersion occuring near 1[MHz] coming from the orientational polarization of the molecules and the other one is an interfacial polarization effect below 1[kHz] or so when the annealing temperature is above 80 [.deg. C]. The overall frequency-dependent dielectric constant is higher near 80[.deg. C]. It may be due to a softness of the alkyl chains. Several other methods were employed to identify the internal structure change of the films. DSC(differential scanning calorimetry) data of the $C_{22}$-Quinolinium(TCNQ) molecules shows that there is an endothermic process near 110[.deg. C] and a weak exothermic process near 180[.deg. C]. While the endothermic process is related to a disordering of the alkyl chains, the exothermic process seems to be due to a chemical structure change of the TCNQ molecules. Thickness measurement by ellipsometry shows that there is a thickness drop near 100[.deg. C], and the thickness above 120[.deg. C] becomes around 20[%] of the room-temperature value.lue.

Embedded capacitor technology is one of the effective packing technologies for further miniaturization and higher performance of electric packaging system. In this paper, the embedded capacitors were simulated and fabricated in 8-layered printed circuit board employing standard PCB processes. The composites of barium titanante($BaTiO_3$) powder and epoxy resin were employed for the dielectric materials in embedded capacitors. Theoretical considerations regarding the embedded capacitors have been paid to understand the frequency dependent impedance behavior. Frequency dependent impedance of simulated and fabricated embedded capacitors was investigated. Fabricated embedded capacitors have lower self resonance frequency values than that of the simulated embedded capacitors due to the increased parasitic inductance values. Frequency dependent capacitances of fabricated embedded capacitors were well matched with those of simulated embedded capacitors from the 100MHz to 10GHz range. Quality factor of 20 was observed and simulated at 2GHz range in the 10 pF embedded capacitors. Temperature dependent capacitance of fabricated embedded capacitors was presented.
The increaseing speeds are accompanied by decreases in pulse rise and fall time in VLSI circuits. These accenturate the high frequency spectral contents of the signals and cause the frequency dependent loss of the conductors which interconnect the various sub-circuits composing of VLSI circuit. The lossy effect is approximated by the square root of frequency dependence of the per unit length resistance. In the practical applications, several problems may arise along with this approximation, so we extend our investigation of the lossy effect by numerical Laplace inversion method.
Within the optimization field, addressing the intricate posed by fluidic pressure loads on functionally graded structures with frequency-related designs is a kind of complex design challenges. This paper thus introduces an innovative density-based topology optimization strategy for frequency-constraint functionally graded structures incorporating Darcy's law and a drainage term. It ensures consistent treatment of design-dependent fluidic pressure loads to frequency-related structures that dynamically adjust their direction and location throughout the design evolution. The porosity of each finite element, coupled with its drainage term, is intricately linked to its density variable through a Heaviside function, ensuring a seamless transition between solid and void phases. A design-specific pressure field is established by employing Darcy's law, and the associated partial differential equation is solved using finite element analysis. Subsequently, this pressure field is utilized to ascertain consistent nodal loads, enabling an efficient evaluation of load sensitivities through the adjoint-variable method. Moreover, this novel approach incorporates load-dependent structures, frequency constraints, functionally graded material models, and polygonal meshes, expanding its applicability and flexibility to a broader range of engineering scenarios. The proposed methodology's effectiveness and robustness are demonstrated through numerical examples, including fluidic pressure-loaded frequency-constraint structures undergoing small deformations, where compliance is minimized for structures optimized within specified resource constraints.
