National Image of South Korea Held by Russian Netizen: Focusing on Internet Blogs and Survey analysis (러시아인들의 한국에 대한 이미지 연구 - 인터넷 블로그 분석 및 설문조사를 중심으로)

  • This study aims to investigate national image of South Korea held by russians. Surveys(based on Free-association Image) and discussion were conducted on LiveJournal (internet blog) with russian netizen. A national image is influenced by a subjective perspective rather than an objective one. Therefore, an image can differ substantially from reality. Futhermore, it takes a long time to change an established image, particularly to a positive image. According to the results, the image of South Korea were dominated by unstable political situations, especially factors related to North Korea. In addition, based on Free-association image, thinking about Korea or Korean, most russians recognize Korea(South) with North Korea. Above all Russians recognize Korea, basing their images on factor of the past or their neighbors-russian korean- or famous Korean brand like Samsung, LG, Hyndai, "Dosirak". Russian netizen did not recognize South Korea as one of leading countries in Asia, paying little attention to South Korea compared to China or Japan. We belive that it is necessary to consider these situations in future efforts to enhance the national image of South Korea.

Implementation of Dynamic Character Art using Image Association

  • This study is about the creation of a character art using the free association. Character in proposed artwork induces the viewer's unconscious experience associated with it and creates new meanings to invigorate the character. When a character that performs both a linguistic function and a visual image function goes through a free association process, the viewer can induce interest and convey the meaning of the character more effectively. We proposed two ways to express the dynamic movement of the character more actively. One is drawing using various colors and free lines, and the other is the movement of the character synchronized with the gesture of the viewer. As a result of implementing dynamic character art, we can see that the viewer was actively involved in the free association process and immersed in the artwork. The viewers participated in the creation of the artwork, changing the shape of the character according to their various gestures.

A Iterative-free Fractal Decoding Algorithm Based on Shared Initial Image (공유된 초기 영상에 기반한 무반복 프랙탈 복호 알고리즘)

  • Since Jacquine introduced the image coding algorithm using fractal theory, many fractal image compression algorithms providing good quality at low bit rate have been proposed by Fisher and Beaumount et al.. But a problem of the previous implementations is that the decoding rests on an iterative procedure whose complexity is image -dependent. This paper proposes an iterative-free fractal image decoding algorithm to reduce the decoding time. In the proposed method, under the encoder previously with the same codebook image as an initial image to be used at the decoder, the fractal coefficients are obtained through calculating the similarity between the codebook image and a input image to be encoded. As the decoding process can be completed with received fractal coefficients and predefined initial image without repeated iterations, the decoding time could be remarkably reduced.

The Image of Lightness Expressed in Fashion (복식에 표현된 가벼움의 이미지)

  • This study attempted to make a comparative investigation into architecture and fashion. It was intended to grasp the contemporary meaning of fashion expressed in fashion by investigating the image of lightness expressed in contemporary fashion. With the increasing trend of the characteristics of lightness over the whole field of contemporary design, this study took an opportunity to probe its understanding and a desirable direction of expression. The study results were summarized as follows: First, flexibility conveys comfortableness and lightness that makes people feel wear no costume in a soft and flowing style. This phenomenon is thought to express the desire to depart from the dismal and heavy ideology of the past times. Second, lightness is expressed as the virtual transparency felt from what is spatial. It shows a sense of openness while removing the internal and external boundary. Third, liberalness expresses the unfettered consciousness of freedom by expressing an open, free image through free, thin and transparent fashion.

Security Verification of Video Telephony System Implemented on the DM6446 DaVinci Processor

  • In this paper we propose a method for verifying video in a video telephony system implemented in DM6446 DaVinci Processor. Each frame is categorized either error free frame or error frame depending on the predefined criteria. Human face is chosen as a basic means for authenticating the video frame. Skin color based algorithm is implemented for detecting the face in the video frame. The video frame is classified as error free frame if there is single face object with clear view of facial features (eyes, nose, mouth etc.) and the background of the image frame is not different then the predefined background, otherwise it will be classified as error frame. We also implemented the image histogram based NCC (Normalized Cross Correlation) comparison for video verification to speed up the system. The experimental result shows that the system is able to classify frames with 90.83% of accuracy.

A Study on the Fashion Image Coordination of Modern Men (현대 남성의 패션이미지 연출에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the modern men's fashion coordination to see the image in the center of TV dramas in terms of Habitu that is formed within hierarchy and class. The subjects range is included fashion style, color, accessories, hairstyle and appearance. 950 pictures used in the analysis sheet. In research methods, content analysis and basic statistics were used. The results of this study were as follows. First, the hierarchy image formed by Habitus is significant difference. The upper layer is coordinating elite luxurious and prestigious image of the fashion styles. The middle layer is coordinating neat and capable image. The lower layer does not care about the appearance and image appearing weary life is coordinating. Second, the class image formed by Habitus, CEO often interests in fashion image coordination. Senior executive is represented clean and luxurious image. General white color dresses in a suite such as office look. Blue color does not care about the fashion coordination and is expressed an easy dress for labor. Architects of the unstructured free-spirited image is represented. Physician and resident physician dress in shirts, no pattern tie, pants, robe. And they is coordinating neat and tidy attire to represent professional and reliable image.

A Parameter-Free Approach for Clustering and Outlier Detection in Image Databases (이미지 데이터베이스에서 매개변수를 필요로 하지 않는 클러스터링 및 아웃라이어 검출 방법)

  • As the volume of image data increases dramatically, its good organization of image data is crucial for efficient image retrieval. Clustering is a typical way of organizing image data. However, traditional clustering methods have a difficulty of requiring a user to provide the number of clusters as a parameter before clustering. In this paper, we discuss an approach for clustering image data that does not require the parameter. Basically, the proposed approach is based on Cross-Association that finds a structure or patterns hidden in data using the relationship between individual objects. In order to apply Cross-Association to clustering of image data, we convert the image data into a graph first. Then, we perform Cross-Association on the graph thus obtained and interpret the results in the clustering perspective. We also propose the method of hierarchical clustering and the method of outlier detection based on Cross-Association. By performing a series of experiments, we verify the effectiveness of the proposed approach. Finally, we discuss the finding of a good value of k used in k-nearest neighbor search and also compare the clustering results with symmetric and asymmetric ways used in building a graph.

A Study on Design for Casual Look Applying Painting Images of Henri Matisse (앙리 마티스 회화 이미지를 응용한 캐쥬얼 룩 디자인 연구)

  • People have more expectations for arts and design and accordingly, various artworks were combined with fashion to meet the consumer needs. As people live a decent life, the development of leisure activities and industry has a much effect on apparel. With this phenomenon, a free and active casual look is making progress centering around the practical apparel, pursuing diversified efficiency irrespective of a season and considering sensibility not formality. In this study, paintings of Henri Matisse were analyzed in every respect and were applied in apparel design with diverse color arrangement and a motif originating in the phenomenon of modern fashion design which leads to the integration of arts and design. Painting image and color of Henri Matisse were used. Sportive casual and cultural casual was used in design as well. Originality of its color in the paintings which were used an a motif is coming from Gauguin and Gogh. Henri had influenced to the next generation with pursuit of violent color. The following conclusions were drawn from this study. First, the color of Henri Matisse's paintings has a strong contrast effect. It combines notable violent color with a simple yet decorative motif. Therefore color from Matisse's paintings suit for apparel of marked individuality with its free color arrangement. Second, free and active image in Henri Matisse's paintings is easy to express efficiency and popularity. It accords with the feature of casual wear. Third, through adding a flowing curved line in Henri Matisse's paintings to materials and applying various colors putting into a curved line image to a rib section, a decorative effect which goes with the whole shape is obtained. This study presents possibility of emergence of unique design using free color arrangement and motif from the image of paintings and aims development of modern fashion design in accordance with modern fashion giving importance to the difference and sensibility by integration of modern garments and artworks.

Evaluation of communication effectiveness of cruelty-free fashion brands - A comparative study of brand-led and consumer-perceived images - (크루얼티 프리 패션 브랜드의 커뮤니케이션 성과 분석 - 브랜드 주도적 이미지와 소비자 지각 이미지에 대한 비교 -)

  • This study assessed the effectiveness of brand image communication on consumer perceptions of cruelty-free fashion brands. Brand messaging data were gathered from postings on the official Instagram accounts of three cruelty-free fashion brands and consumer perception data were gathered from Tweets containing keywords related to each brand. Web crawling and natural language processing were performed using Python and sentiment analysis was conducted using the BERT model. By analyzing Instagram content from Stella McCartney, Patagonia, and Freitag from their inception until 2021, this study found these brands all emphasize environmental aspects but with differing focuses: Stella McCartney on ecological conservation, Patagonia on an active outdoor image, and Freitag on upcycled products. Keyword analysis further indicated consumers perceive these brands in line with their brand messaging: Stella McCartney as high-end and eco-friendly, Patagonia as active and environmentally conscious, and Freitag as centered on recycling. Results based on the assessment of the alignment between brand-driven images and consumer-perceived images and the sentiment evaluation of the brand confirmed the outcomes of brand communication performance. The study revealed a correlation between brand image and positive consumer evaluations, indicating that higher alignment of ethical values leads to more positive consumer assessments. Given that consumers tend to prioritize search keywords over brand concepts, it's important for brands to focus on using visual imagery and promotions to effectively convey brand communication information. These findings highlight the importance of brand communication by emphasizing the connection between ethical brand images and consumer perceptions.
