The fatigue test of the fillet weldments was executed with different beveling angles and porosities. The beveling angles of $0^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$ and $55^{\circ}$ were compared with fatigue lives. After the fillet weldment failure, the porosities which found at the fractured surface were observed to account the effect on fatigue life. Finite element analysis was performed to correlate the fatigue strength and the sizes and the locations of porosities. The stress-strain field was severely affected by the length of notch and the sizes and locations of porosities. Based on the quantitative analysis of porosity effect, the total volume of porosities was a key factor for fatigue strength of the fillet weldment.

The value of the mode I interlamina fracture toughness, GIC, is calculated by experimental compliance method, modified compliance method and beam theory. The value of the mode II interlamina fracture toughness, GIC, is evaluated by beam method, theory beam theory and compliance method. This paper describes the effect of load pint displacement rate and speicimen geometries for mode I and II interlaminar fracture toughness of glass fiber reinforced plastic composites by using double cantilever beam (DCB) and end notched flexure (ENF) specimen. For the load point displacement rate of increases whereas the value of 2,6 and 10 mm/min the value of GIC decrease as load point displacement rate increases whereas the value of GIC is found to be no significant effect. The value of GIC decreases as initial crack length increases. The fractured surface of the DCB and ENF samples are examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM).

For the conversion into hydrogen society, not only studying facilities of hydrogen production, storage, transportation and charging system but also developing technique of ensuring safety are essentially needed. Hence, for the first step of that, evaluated the hydrogen embrittlement of Inconel alloy 617, Ni-based super heat-resisting alloy, by small punch test. Prepared the various specimens through changing electrochemical charging time and measured the toughness degradation of the specimens by small-punch test. The analysis of hydrogen embrittlement behavior were carried out by investigating the fractured surface of specimens. This study has significance on revealing mechanism of hydrogen embrittlement behavior and the factor affecting hydrogen embrittlement in the future study.

The fatigue test of the fillet weldments were executed with different groove angles and porosity. The groove angles of $90^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$ and $55^{\circ}$ were compared with fatigue lives. After the fillet weldment failure, the porosity which found at the fractured surface were observed to account the effect on fatigue life. Finite element analysis were performed to correlate the fatigue strength and the size & the location of porosity. The stress-strain field were severely affected by the length of notch and the size & location of porosity. Based on the quantitative analysis of porosity effect, the total volume of porosity was key factor for fatigue strength of the fillet weldment.
The evaluation of elastic-plastic fracture characteristic was investigated in ferrite steel SA 516- Gr70 used for reactor coolant piping elbow and support skirt of pressure vessels. This paper describes the effect of temperature on J-R curve characteristic of this material. The elastic-plastic fracture mechanics parameter J is obtained with unloading compliance method. The test method were analyzed according to ASTM E 813-89 and E 1152-89. Unloading compliance $J_{IC}$ tests were performed on 1 CT specimens at varied temperatures from $25^{\circ}C$ to about $400^{\circ}C$ using a high temperature extensometer. At all temperature, valid $J_{IC}$ measurements could be made and $J_{IC}$ decreased with increasing temperature. SEM fractography schematically illustrates microvoid initiation, growth and coalescence at the tip of a preexisting crack.
Photoluminescent porous silicon (PSi) were prepared by an electrochemical etch of n-type silicon under the illumination with a 300 W tungsten filament bulb for the duration of etch. The red photoluminescence emitting at 620 nm with an excitation wavelength of 450 nm is due to the quantum confinement of silicon nanocrystal in porous silicon. As-prepared PSi was sonicated, fractured, and centrifuged in toluene to obtain photoluminescence silicon quantum dots. BET and BHJ methods were employed to study the specific surface area of as-prepared PSi. Optical characterization of red photoluminescent silicon nanocrystal was investigated by UV-vis and fluorescence spectrometer. Also SEM and TEM images of porous silicon and nanoparticles were investigated.

Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) was deposited as an adherent film on Cu-substrate by the cathodic electropolymerization. This work is an attempt to compare the molecular weight and the fractured surface of PAN prepared by CV and chronoamperometry. The molecular weight and increase weight of PAN measured the according to AN-concentration, scan rate, and cycle number (or time) using CV and chronoamperometry. The morphology of PAN was characterized by SEM image. Mechanism and optimal conditions for electropolymerization of acrylonitrile on Cu-substrate were investigated and discussed.
The tensile strength and water resistance of ADC12 alloy matrix composites reinforced with saffil/ceraklwool and saffil/Si particle prepared by squeeze casting have been investigated in room temperature and $250^{\circ}C$. Adhesive and scuffing wear phenomena was studied when load was changed to 10~40N and wear velocity was 2.0m/s at room temperature and $250^{\circ}C$. Generally, the morphology of tensile fractured surface revealed dimple pattern which implies ductile fracture of the composites. However, cleavage fracture was also observed in case of ADC12 alloy based saffil/Si particle composite. The maximum tensile strength of 320MPa was obtained in ADC12 alloy based composites reinforced by saffil/cerakwool(5:5) preformed fibers. In the results of dry wear test, it was observed that scuffing was occurred at 40N in room temperature and 30N for $250^{\circ}C$.
Statement of problem. Many surface processing methods of dental implant have been developed, the laser processing is one of them. Purpose. This study was to investigate in vitro the fatigue resistance of implants treated with laser method(CSM implant, CSM Company, Daegu, Korea). Material and methods. Fatigue tests of 23 laser treated CSM implant(CSM Company, Daegu, Korea) were conducted using Instron 8871 (Load cell, 5 kN, Instron Co., England), according to ISO 14801 (2003), Results. From 300 N, each specimens were not fractured and withstood until more than 5,000,000 cycle. Conclusion. Within the limits of this in vitro study, implants treated with laser method (CSM implant, CSM Company, Daegu, Korea) have had enough rigidity and fatigue resistance to use clinically with reliance.
X-ray diffraction analysis technique was used for the fatigue damage analysis and fatigue life prediction in Al 7075-T651 alloy. The tensile test, fatigue strength and fatigue crack propagation test with change of stress ratio were carried out. As a result, half-value breadth was increased with the plastic deformation in the specimen increasint at all test conditions. In particular, half-value breadth at the surface of the specimens fractured by fatigue was increased as stress intensity factor range and effective stress intensity factor range were increased. In addition, the good relationship between half-value breadty and diffraction pattern was shown.
