파면거칠기 유도 균열닫힘에 의한 혼합모드 피로균열의 전파거동 및 파면에 대한 평가 (Assessment for Propagation Behavior and Fracture Surface of Mixed-mode Fatigue Crack by Fracture Surface-Roughness Induced Crack Closure)

  • In this study, we have investigated the closure behavior of fatigue cracks in SAPH440 steel plates under a mixed-mode I+II loading. A crack image capturing system as a direct measuring method was used to measure the closure levels at a crack tip. The crack closure levels in the fluctuation and stable sections were increased with the increase of the mode mixture ratio. The mode mixture ratio independent fatigue crack propagation rates equation was calculated by considering mixed-mode crack closure levels. The equation was examined according to the application method of crack opening ratio. The fracture surface analysis by C-scan method was also performed in order to investigate the closure mechanism and propagation mode of crack under the mixed-mode I+II loading. The crack closure under the mixed mode I+II is confirmed as a surface roughness closure by the quantitative analysis of fracture surface using the proposed surface roughness parameter.

간극의 기하학적 특성이 절리의 수직변형 및 투수성에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Influence of Void Geometry on Fracture Closure and Permeability)

  • 절리의 기하학적 특성이 절리의 수직변형 및 투수성에 미치는 영향에 대해 수치해석적 방법을 통해 연구하였다. 실험적 계측 결과에 의하면, 절리의 간극은 통계적 방법에 의해 묘사되며 이에 근거하여 수치해석에 사용할 수 있는 절리를 모사할 수 있었다. 이를 위해. 자동 상관관계 함수를 이용하여 다양한 공간 상관길이의 인공 절리를 발생하였으며, 이를 토대로 수직변천 모델 및 수리해석 모델을 개발하였다. 수직변형 모델은 수직응력에 의한 절리면의 압축과 변형을 고려하여 절리의 변형거동을 해석하려 시도하였으며, cubic law에 근거한 유한차분법을 이용하여 수리해석을 수행하였다. 여러 가지 공간 상관길이의 인공 절리에 대한 수직변형 거동 및 이에 따른 수리해석의 결과, 간극의 공간 상관길이가 증가함에 따라 절리의 수직변형 및 투수성 감소가 분명하였다. 절리의 수직강성 역시 간극의 상관길이에 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났으며, 이로 인해 절리의 투수성이 수직강성과 내재적 관계가 있음을 유추할 수 있겠다. 본 연구 결과는 공학적 프로젝트로 인한 절리 암반의 수리-역학적 거동을 이해하는데 공헌할 것으로 사료된다.

  • Crack tip behavior of single mode loading condition(mode I)depend on tensile loading component but one of mixed mode loading condition(mode I+II) have influenced on shear loading component like the practical structure. Because crack closure is caused by shear loading component under mixed-mode loading a research on the behavior in the stage of crack initiation and propagation require to be evaluate about crack closure effect by fatigue crack surface friction. For that reasion we examined the behavior at the crack tip by direct measuring method. Measured behavior at the crack tip was analyzed through vector crack tip displacement. As a result, crack propafation equation was corrected by considering with crack closure effect. In addition we compared fatigue fracture crack surface and crack closure level.

Numerical Calculation of Energy Release Rates by Virtual Crack Closure Technique

  • A seamless analysis of material behavior incorporating complex geometry and crack- tip modeling is one of greatly interesting topics in engineering and computational fracture mechanics fields. However, there are still large gaps between the industrial applications and fundamental academic studies due to a time consuming detailed modeling. In order to resolve this problem, a numerical method to calculate an energy release rate by virtual crack closure technique was proposed in this paper. Both free mesh method and finite element method have been utilized and, thereafter, robust local and global elements for various geometries and boundary conditions were generated. A validity of the proposed method has been demonstrated through a series of fracture mechanics analyses without tedious crack-tip meshing.

  • Pelvic bone fracture with hemodynamic instability is fatal and the mortality rate can range up to 40%. Despite the big advances in the treatment of massive bleeding and hemorrhagic shock, the mortality associated with hemodynamically unstable pelvic bone fractures remains high. The gold standard of treatment for pelvic bone fracture with hemodynamic instability has not yet been determined and is an issue of main discussion among many doctors. Retroperitoneal packing is not yet wide spread in Korea, but is a good modality for managing of massive bleeding from pelvic bone fractures when an angiography suite or an expert surgeon is not available. A vacuum-assisted closure (VAC) system can also be applied with retroperitoneal packing in the manner of damage control surgery and open abdomen surgery. We present the case of a 51-year-old male who had a pelvic bone fracture with massive bleeding. We performed retroperitoneal gauze packing with a VAC system for the first time. The postoperative vital signs of patient were immediately stable, the massive bleeding was easily and quickly controlled, and the amount of transfusion of blood components was reduced.

소아 원위지골 기저부에서 발생한 Seymour씨 골절의 치험례 (Seymour's Fracture of the Base of the Distal Phalanx in a Child)

  • Purpose: Prior to closure of the epiphysis of the distal phalanx, fracture usually occurs through the growth plate, Salter-Harris type I or II, or through the juxtaepiphyseal region 1 to 2 mm distal to the growth plate. The terminal tendon of extensor inserts into the epiphysis only, while insertion site of the flexor digitorum profundus spans both the epiphysis and metaphysis. Because of the difference between these tendon insertions, this injury mimics a mallet deformity. But, this type of injury does not involve a tear or avulsion of the extensor, unlike mallet finger of adults. Seymour was the first to describe this type of injury in children and called after his name, Seymour's fracture. This fracture is prone to infection or remain the residual deformity unless adequate treatment. Methods: We report a case of Seymour's fracture. A 9-year-old boy presented a laceration of the nail matrix, with the nail lies degloved from the nail fold on the right middle finger gotten from an impact against a door. An X-ray examination showed the fracture line lying 1 mm distal to the growth plate. The injury was treated with debridement and the fracture was reduced by applying hyperextension force. Under the C-arm, a single 0.7 mm K-wire was used to immobilize the distal interphalangeal joint. Intravenous antibiotics were applied for 5 days after surgery. Results: The K-wire was removed in the 3rd week. No infection or significant deformity was found until follow-up of 12 months. Conclusions: Seymour's fracture may be at first classically mallet deformity by its appearance. But it is anatomically different and more problematic injury. If it isn't corrected at the time of injury, derangement of the extensor mechanism, and growth deformity of the distal phalanx may occur. The fracture site should be debrided, removed of any interposed soft tissue, and the patient should be given appropriate antibiotics. Reduction should be maintained by K-wire fixation. We experienced no infection or premature epiphyseal closure.

광섬유 케이블 접속함체의 사출성형 특성 분석 (Characteristics of Injection Molding in Optical Fiber Splice Closure)

  • Optical fiber splice closure serves to protect connection parts from external environment. Moreover, it functions as a connection, junction, and distribution in diverse surroundings such as aerial, underground, duct, and pole. In this research, first, the optical fiber splice closure, its configuration, and the design problem were briefly investigated. Second, the design and application for in-line cable closure were studied to satisfy its construction and technical features. The injection molding conditions and optimal design were conducted to save time and cost during the manufacturing process. Third, methods to minimize loss via of optical fiber cable while strongly fixing optical fiber cable with optical cable holder to prevent fracture were researched, and tests such as perfect air tightness and mechanical and environmental performance were conducted.

  • 본 논문에서는 강의 피로균열진전거동과 미시조직과의 관계를 밝히기 위한 연 구의 일환으로 제이상 마르텐사이트 중에 모상 페라이트가 존재하는 복합조직강을 준 비하여 이들 강의 제이상 경도변화에 따른 피로균열진전저항을 균열휨과 균열닫힘을 통하여 검토하였다.

  • This study examined how the fracture toughness is affected according to the variation of the initial crack length and the fiber arranged angle using FEA method and experimental method. Therefore, the energy release rates were calculated and compared by J-integral method and VCCT(Virtual Crack Closure Technique). The results of fracture toughness test verified these results. At this time, the locus method was used in order to determine the energy release rate. When the results of FEA were compared with those of experiment, all of those decreased with the increase of angle between load and the fiber arranged direction. The decrease was due to reducing maximum load and stiffness, and the reason of reduction has been judged that the inplane shear stress.

  • Paris가 피로균열전파에 파괴역학의 개념을 도입한 이후, Paris 법칙에 의하여 피로균열성장문제를 다루어 왔으나, Elber가 제안한 유효응력강도계수가 균열 전파 실험과 잘 일치하는 것이 밝혀진 이후 많은 연구자들이 유효응력비인 개구비를 정확히 추정하기 위한 연구를 계속하여 왔다. 본 연구는 변동하중 하의 피로균열전파 거동을 해석함에 있어서 균열의 개폐구 거동을 고려한 해석적 수치 모델을 개발하여, 선체구조 설계나 선박검사 시에 활용 가능한 정밀한 균열전파 추정방법을 제안하고자 한다.
