Conjugate heat transfer between liquid metal and solid is a common phenomenon in a liquid-metal-cooled fast reactor's fuel assembly and heat exchanger, dramatically affecting the reactor's safety and economy. Therefore, comprehensively studying the sophisticated conjugate heat transfer in a liquid-metal-cooled fast reactor is profound. However, it has been evidenced that the traditional Simple Gradient Diffusion Hypothesis (SGDH), assuming a constant turbulent Prandtl number (Prt,, usually 0.85 - 1.0), is inappropriate in the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations of liquid metal. In recent decades, numerous studies have been performed on the four-equation model, which is expected to improve the precision of liquid metal's CFD simulations but has not been introduced into the conjugate heat transfer calculation between liquid metal and solid. Consequently, a four-equation model, consisting of the Abe k - ε turbulence model and the Manservisi k𝜃 - ε𝜃 heat transfer model, is applied to study the conjugate heat transfer concerning liquid metal in the present work. To verify the numerical validity of the four-equation model used in the conjugate heat transfer simulations, we reproduce Johnson's experiments of the liquid lead-bismuth-cooled turbulent pipe flow using the four-equation model and the traditional SGDH model. The simulation results obtained with different models are compared with the available experimental data, revealing that the relative errors of the local Nusselt number and mean heat transfer coefficient obtained with the four-equation model are considerably reduced compared with the SGDH model. Then, the thermal-hydraulic characteristics of liquid metal turbulent pipe flow obtained with the four-equation model are analyzed. Moreover, the impact of the turbulence model used in the four-equation model on overall simulation performance is investigated. At last, the effectiveness of the four-equation model in the CFD simulations of liquid sodium conjugate heat transfer is assessed. This paper mainly proves that it is feasible to use the four-equation model in the study of liquid metal conjugate heat transfer and provides a reference for the research of conjugate heat transfer in a liquid-metal-cooled fast reactor.

Computational four-equation turbulence model is developed and is applied to predict twodimensional unsteady thermal surface discharge into a reservoir. Turbulent stresses and heat fluxes in the momentum and energy equations are determined from transport equations for the turbulent kinetic energy (R), isotropic rate of kinetic energy dissipation (.epsilon.), mean square temperature variance (theta. over bar $^{2}$), and rate of destruction of the temperature variance (.epsilon. $_{\theta}$). Computational results by four-equation model are favorably compared with those obtained by an extended two-equation model. Added advantage of the four-equation model is that it yields quantitative information about the ratio between the velocity time scale and the thermal time scale and more detailed information about turbulent structure. Predicted time scale ratio is within experimental observations by others. Although the mean velocity and temperature fields are similarly predicted by both models, it is found that the four-equation model is preferably candidate for prediction of highly buoyant turbulent flows.
Four models in current use for cereal grain drying, equilibrium model, Morey model, partial differential equation model and simplified partial differential equation model, were modified to be suitable for natural air drying of barley. The predicted by the four models and experimental results were compared. Three models except equilibrium model predicted moisture comtent and grain temperature very well. But equilibrium model overpredicted moisture content and grain temperature of bottom layer. The degree of prediction of the four models for relative humidities of exhaust air didn't differ much from one another and equally the four models predicted relative humidity statisfatorily. Morey model took much shorter computing time than any other models. Therefore, considering the degree of prediction and computing time Morey model was the most suitable for natural air drying of barley.
An experimental study was conducted to develop a thin-layer rewetting equation of short grain rough rice of Akihikari variety. Four thin-layer rewetting equations were experimentally determined from $25^{\circ}C$ to $45^{\circ}C$ and 70%RH to 85%RH conditions. Diffusion, Henderson, Page, and Thompson equations widely used as thin-layer drying equations were selected. Experimental data were fitted to these equations using linear regression analysis except diffusion equation. The diffusivity in the diffusion equation was determined by optimization method. Four equations were highly significant. In order to compare the goodness of fit of each equation, the error mean square of each equawas calculated. The diffusion model was not a very good model because the error mean square was very large. The other three models showed the same level or error mean square and could predict satisfactorily the rewetting rate or short grain rough rice.
This study develops a mid-term preceding observation model of radish to complement an existing short-term agricultural observation model. The first purpose of the study is to extend a three seasonal classification(spring, summer, fall) of fruit-vegetables to a four seasonal classification that involves the winter additionally. This allows us to verify the reason for demand and supply unbalance and unstable price of radish. The second purpose is to construct a mid-term preceding observation model that would be used to forecast planted areas, output, monthly shipment and price. To achieve these purposes, several multiple regression models are estimated. A system is consisted of a planted areas equation, a yield equation, monthly shipment distribution equation, and monthly price equation. To calculate output an auxiliary equation is involved in the system and the consumer price index etc are considered as exogenous variables.
The solubility of Cloxacillin sodium in ethanol, 1-propanol, isopropanol, and acetone solutions was measured at different temperatures. The melting property was also tested by using a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). Then, the solubility data were fitted using Apelblat equation and λh equation, respectively. The Wilson model and NRTL model were not utilized to correlate the test data, since Cloxacillin sodium will decompose directly after melting. For comparison purposes, the four empirical models, i.e., Apelblat equation, λh equation, Wilson model and NRTL Model, were evaluated by using 1155 solubility curves of 103 solutes tested under different monosolvents and temperatures. The comparison results indicate that the Apelblat equation is superior to the others. Furthermore, a new method (named the calculation method) for determining the Apelblat equation using only three data points was proposed to solve the problem that there may not be enough solute in the determination of solubility. The log-logistic distribution function was used to further capture the trend of the correlation and to make better quantitative comparison between predicted data and the experimental ones for the Apelblat equation determined by different methods (fitting method or calculation method). It is found that the proposed calculation method not only greatly reduces the number of test data points, but also has satisfactory prediction accuracy.
A creep-buckling analysis is studied for a simply-supported viscoelastic column. The fluid-type four-parameter model is employed because of its general applicability to creep materials. Using the imperfection-based incremental approach, a nonlinear load deflection equation is derived. Safe load and critical (or life) time which characterize the stability of the viscoelastic column are obtained mathematically and interpreted physically. A finite difference algorithm is applied to solve the second-order differential equation of the viscoelastic stress-strain relation. Numerical calculation has been made and discussed far a SUS316 stainless steel column.

Free vibration analysis of radialiy multi-delaminated beams with through-the-width multi-delamination is performed in the present study. The multiple delaminations are considered to be in a radial manner through the thickness from the top surface of the beam. The natural frequencies of the radially multi-delaminated beams are calculated from a new algorithm that is based on the single compound delaminated beam model. That is, beams with radial multi-delaminations are regarded as the sum of a single compound delamlnated beam that is the single sub-delaminated beam from the top surface of global beam. Each result of frequency equation for the single delaminated beam with unknown boundary conditions obtained through continuity conditions Is updated to the next one, With these sequential operations, the final frequency equation of radially multi-delaminated beams is obtained for both ends boundary conditions of global beam. The numerical results carried out for the beams are compared with those of some references to give the reliance on the proposed algorithm and to investigate the effects of the shape, number, size of multi-delaminations on the natural frequency. Compared with the other previously presented model, the proposed algorithm is more flexible in modeling and formulating as the total array size of frequency equation is always four by four. Therefore, the proposed algorithm will reduce the effort of user in formulating the physical model to the numerical model.

A new eddy viscosity equation was formulated from assumption of turbulence length scale equation and specific dissipation ratio equation. Then, a set of turbulence model equations for the turbulent kinetic energy ${\kappa}$, the viscosity ${\nu}_t$, and the intermittency factor ${\gamma}$ is proposed by considering the entrainment effect. Closure coefficients are determined by experimental data and resorting to numerical optimization. Present model has been applied to compute four representative cases of free shear flows and successfully compared with experimental data. In particular, the spreading rate, the centreline mean velocity and the profiles of intermittency are calculated with improved accuracy. Also, the proposed ${\nu}_t-{\kappa}-{\gamma}$ model was applied to channel flow by considering the wall effect and the results show good agreements with the Direct Numerical Simulation data.

The purpose of this thesis is to derive a theoretical model of the hysteretic resistance of the visco-elastic damper based on test results of harmonic excitation and to investigate of the basis of theory and experiment the effect of vibration control and response characteristics of portal frames degree vibration systems provided with the damper. The behaviour of a visco-elastic degree under dynamic loading is idealized by a model of the theory of visco-elasticity, i.e. a four-parameter model formed as a parallel combination of Maxwell fluid and Kelvin-Voigh models and its constitutive equation is derived. The model parameters are determined for a tested damper from the datas of harmonic excitation tests. The theoretical model of the damper is incorporated in equation fo motion of single degree of freedom. A computer program for solving the equation is written using Runge-kuttas's numerical integration scheme. Using this analysis program test cases of the earthquake excitation are simulated and the results of the simulation are the results of the simulation are the results of the simulation are compared with the test results.
