  • This study addresses the prevalent issue of meat species authentication and adulteration through a chemometrics-based approach, crucial for upholding public health and ensuring a fair marketplace. Volatile compounds were extracted and analyzed using headspace-solid-phase-microextraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Adulterated meat samples were effectively identified through principal component analysis (PCA) and partial least square-discriminant analysis (PLS-DA). Through variable importance in projection scores and a Random Forest test, 11 key compounds, including nonanal, octanal, hexadecanal, benzaldehyde, 1-octanol, hexanoic acid, heptanoic acid, octanoic acid, and 2-acetylpyrrole for beef, and hexanal and 1-octen-3-ol for pork, were robustly identified as biomarkers. These compounds exhibited a discernible trend in adulterated samples based on adulteration ratios, evident in a heatmap. Notably, lipid degradation compounds strongly influenced meat discrimination. PCA and PLS-DA yielded significant sample separation, with the first two components capturing 80% and 72.1% of total variance, respectively. This technique could be a reliable method for detecting meat adulteration in cooked meat.

  • The four-terminal transmission matrix method has been widely used to estimate the insertion-loss. However, the predictins using the equations in the four-terminal transmission matrix method do not reflect a practical phenomenon accurately, In this paper, the correction method to derive the insertion-loss for a constant sound pressure source is presented. The method of correction to the four-terminal transmission matrix method was proposed by rewriting the real and imaginary parts as they depend solely on the flow velocity. Then the result was compensated for by adding the component of the temperature gradient.

  • This paper describes the fault diagnosis method to order to construct CIM in complex system with hierarchical structure similar to human body structure. Complex system is divided into unit, item and component. For diagnosing this hierarchical complex system, it is necessary to implement a special neural network. Fault diagnosis system can forecast faults in a system and decide from the signal information of current machine state. Comparing with other diagnosis system for a single fault, the developed system deals with multiple fault diagnosis, comprising hierarchical neural network (HNN). HNN consists of four level neural network, i.e. first is fault symptom classification and second fault diagnosis for item, third is symptom classification and forth fault diagnosis for component. UNIX IPC is used for implementing HNN with multitasking and message transfer between processes in SUN workstation with X-Windows (Motif). We tested HNN at four units, seven items per unit, seven components per item in a complex system. Each one neural network represents a separate process in UNIX operating system, information exchanging and cooperating between each neural network was done by message queue.

  • In this study the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was applied to flow data in a water distribution pipe system to analyze the relevance between the flow observation dates, which have the outliers of observed night flows, and the maintenance records. The data was obtained from four small size water distribution blocks to which 13 maintenance records such as pipe leak and water meter leak belong. The flow data during four months were used for the analysis. The analysis was carried out to identify an appropriate analysis period for a PCA model for a water distribution block. To facilitate the analyses a computational algorithm was developed. MATLAB was utilized to realize the algorithm as a computer program. As a result, an appropriate PCA period for each of the case study small size water distribution blocks was identified.

  • We completed four color light curves of the near-contact binary CN And during three nights from September to December 2004 using the 61-cm reflector and BV RI filters at Sobaeksan Observatory. We determined four new times of minimum light (two timings for primary eclipse, two for secondary). Newly obtained BV RI light curves and the radial velocity curves from Rucinski et a1. (2000) were simultaneously analyzed to derive the system parameters of CN And. We used the semi-detached mode 4 of the 2003-version of the Wilson-Devinney binary model, and interpreted the asymmetry of the light curve by introducing two spots; a cool spot on the primary component and a hot spot on the secondary component. New photometric parameters are not much different from those of Cicek et a1. (2005), and it is considered that the system is in the era of broken contact. From the orbital period study with all available timings including our data, we found a continous period decrease with a rate of $P_{obs}=--1.82{\times}10^{-7}\;d\;yr^{-1}$ that can be explained with two possible mechanisms. We think the most likely cause of the period decrease is a thermal mass transfer from the primary to the secondary component, rather than angular momentum loss due to a magnetic stellar wind.

  • The present study concerns a feasibility study for applying principal component analysis to ship dynamics in maneuver. Using the four degrees of freedom standard modular model for ship dynamics maneuver simulations of large angle zigzag tests with rudder deflection angle variations are conducted. The datasets of ship motion, hydrodynamic force, and moment during the maneuver are acquired to identify the principal modes. The covariance matrix of obtained ship dynamics variables shows a strong linear correlation between the motion, hydrodynamic force, and moment, except the surge force. Four eigenvectors of the covariance matrix are selected as the principal modes of ship dynamics. Using the principal modes, ship motion in turning circle and zigzag tests is reconstructed, showing good agreement with the original data.

  • This Study aims to demonstrate how much flood vulnerability in urban area changed for the past 32 years by using the panel model. At the same time, this study strives to determine the primary factors and to construct an effective counter-plan by means of empirical research. After selecting research hypotheses based on considerations of issues concerning causes for urban flooding, their relevance is put to the test by conducting empirical research in individual case locations. This research verifies the four research hypotheses by using one-way error component regression model. In conclusion, this research has shown that urban land use and local characteristics act as significant flood determinants, with forests acting to reduce flood dangers. Moreover, constructing embankments can no longer represent a reliable flood control policy. The changes in future flood control policies need to incorporate local characteristics and to minimize natural destruction, so that humans and nature can coexist through environmentally friendly flood management policies.

  • A series of pyranopyrazoles, was efficiently synthesized via one-pot, four component reaction of ethyl acetoacetate, hydrazine hydrate, aldehydes and malononitrile in the presence of catalytic amount silicotungstic acid under solvent free condition. NOE experiments confirmed that the product exist exclusively in the 2H form. The present protocol offers the advantages of clean reaction, short reaction time, high yield, easy purification and economic availability of the catalyst.

  • The UBV observations of the Brightest RS CVn-type eclipsing binary star AR Lac were made at four observatories, two in Korean and two in the U.S. in the 1980-81 and 1981-82 seasons. As a result of the cooperation, two light curves in the yellow and in the blue were completed for each observing seasons. Ultraviolet observations were also made at three of the four observatories. The orbital period of AR Lac apparantly decreased around 1977. An analysis of our yellow light curves together with five other yellow curves available in the literature since 1975 shows that there seems no periodicity in the migration of the distortion waves. There is a gradual decrease of at least 0.m1 between 1976 and 1982 in the brightness of the cooler component if one assumes that the hotter component is constant.

  • The use of Smiles rearrangement in Ugi-type couplings with tropolone allows very straightforward multicomponent formation of 2-(N,N-dialkylamino)-2,4,6-cycloheptatrien-1-one derivatives. The Ugi four-component reaction of isocyanides with tropolone (2-hydroxy-2,4,6-cycloheptatrien-1-one), primary amines and aldehydes proceeds smoothly and cleanly under mild conditions to afford 2-(N,N-dialkylamino)-2,4,6-cycloheptatrien-1-one derivatives in fairly good yields.
