An Experimental Study on Frictional Characteristics of the Piston Ring (피스톤 링 마찰 특성의 실험적 연구)

  • A friction tester to measure friction force generated at the interface between the piston ring and the cylinder liner was developed. Modified piston ring is bar-shaped and 100mm long. Surface of the modified piston ring is machined by the profile grinding machine to be formed as a shape of an arc of a circle. Measured data are treated as mean effective friction force and power loss. From this test it can be confirmed that friction force is deeply affected by surface shape of the piston ring and viscosity of supplied oil. Friction force is deeply affected by surface shape of the piston ring and viscosity of supplied oil. Friction force is decreased and power loss is increased with increasing velocity. And it is known that region of mixed lubrication is broader than estimated with theoretical analysis. it is expected that this tester can be used as the optimization tool of the surface shape of the piston ring at the first stage of development of the piston rings.

  • The meaning of the space planning which has from modern interior space has played important role, space composition planning itself is the concept creation tool as well as the unique expression sphere in field of interior space far away from fixed idea relevant to the existing space which was only simple division or secondary element in design. Thus, this current work expresses that the space-Function is related with space-division as well as basic designed-conceptual work process including the space is formed. Furthermore, through the side-composition with form, it activates the various space aspect perceptually, which created the visual environment in using lightning, reflection of glass and penetrated nature etc. The keyword on elevation design concept is as like various aspects, third dimension, non-materiality and symbolical meaning. In addition, it provides the color space equipped with functionality and artistry capable to arouse the diverse sensual capacity to space users on default of image language.

Limit state assessment of nodal zone capacity in strut-and-tie models

  • A method based on the lower-bound theorem of limit analysis is presented for the capacity assessment of nodal zones in strut-and-tie models. The idealized geometry of the nodal zones is formed by the intersection of effective widths of the framing struts and ties. The stress distribution is estimated by dividing the nodal zones into constant stress triangles separated by lines of stress discontinuity. The strength adequacy is verified by comparing the biaxial stress field in each triangle with the corresponding failure criteria. The approach has been implemented in a computer-based strut-and-tie tool called CAST (Computer-Aided Strut-and-Tie). An application example is also presented to illustrate the approach.

  • The concept of a "switching language " between different indexing languages and information retrieval systems has been discussed since the mid-1960s. Some preliminary investigates into the feasibility of switching between mediating tool yielded positive results. The Broad system of ordering(BSO) , a general classification scheme for information exchange and switching, has been under development as a joint FID/UNESCO project since 1973. The purpose of this study is to find out the origin, development, definition, and principle of BSO. The results of the study can be summarized as follows: (1) BSO is a switching language for the purpose of interconnection of information system which is located different regions, or using different indexing languages. (2) BSO is in effect, fully faceted and broad classification system. (3) BSO is not only a subject code but also an ordering system. (4) BSO can be used information retrieval system because the notation of composite subjects is formed by combining notation. (5) BSO has to some extent sacrificed brevity by leaving large unused notational gap for future use. (6) The structure of the scheme is in no way dependent upon the notation. notation.

  • This study aims to Improve the productivity in forming of flanged thrust engine bearings from two kinds of laminated sheet materials by integrating the forming processes or by reducing the number of the subsequent sizing and machining processes or by modifying the forming tools used. For steel-Al rolled blank, a design scheme for the one-step forming operation and the geometry of the tool set required is suggested and is verified its usefulness by the finite element simulation. And for steel-Cu sintered blank, the results of experiment and finite element analysis show that it is possible to improve the dimensional accuracy of formed products and to reduce the number of sizing processes just by modifying the shape and dimensions of initial blanks and flange forming dies, and by controlling the spring force.

  • The Holographic Particle Velocimetry system can be a promising optical tool for the measurements of three dimensional particle velocities. In this study, the holographic panicle velocimetry system was used to measure the sizes and velocities of droplets formed by a commercial full cone spray nozzle. Uncertainty analysis was performed to identify the sources of all relevant errors and to evaluate their magnitude. The droplet velocities ranged from 10.3 to 13.3 m/s with average uncertainty of ${\pm}1.6m/s$, which is ${\pm}14%$ of the mean droplet velocity. Compared with relatively small uncertainties of velocity components in the normal direction to the optical axis, the uncertainty of the optical axis component is ${\pm}3.6m/s$. This is due to the long depth of field of droplet images in the optical axis, which is inherent feature of holographic system using forward-scattering object wave of particles.

  • During the last decade, electrospray (ES) techniques have been used as potential methods for preparing of core-shell materials. Depending on the architecture of nozzle and design of devices, the ES techniques includes monoaxial, coaxial, multiple coaxial nozzle ES and microfluidic ES devices. ES operates based on a basic principle, in which a spray of monodisperse droplets is formed by dispensing an electrically conductive liquid through a capillary charged to a sufficiently high potential. In review of many recent research papers, we take a closer look at ES techniques and their applications for fabrication of core-shell materials. Several advantages of ES technique compared with other methods were emphasized and it may be regarded as a potential tool for fabrication of core-shell materials current and near future.

  • Internet has become an important part of teenagers' life and has changed the life style of teenagers. Internet can be an useful tool for educating teenagers and also can be misused as a cyberspace for social problems. Recognizing that teenagers spend most of their free time enjoying internet and they form their own new life culture, it is needed to develop practical strategies for maximizing the positive effect of internet on the teenagers' culture. The purpose of this research is to suggest a desirable way for forming teenagers' healthy internet-based culture. The research was conducted by the survey of teenagers in the city of Pyongtaek on their use of internet and their problems The survey shows that most of teenagers are using internet in order to release the stress and most of them are hooked on it. It also indicates that cyber police and volunteer groups should be formed to help the desirable teenagers' internet-based culture.

  • This study focused on the validity of Imago couple therapy's contents and the effects of application of the Imago couple therapy model. The participated subjects were 38 graduate students and their spouses. The major findings of this study were as follows. First, the types of couple relations that formed and sustained marital relations after growth could be predicted by the early childhood relationships between the subjects when they were children and their parents. Second, the marital conflicts and frustrations could be healed by the 'parent-child dialogue' and 'guided imagery'. Third, Imago couple therapy was effective for couple counseling to improve the areas of marital relationships, especially marital intimacy, marital communication, communication skills for marital conflicts, mutual respect, gender role, sexual satisfaction, time together, and decision-making. Fourth, Couple's Dialogue was a powerful tool for couple and parent-child relationships as well as general counseling practices.

A Study of Cup forming by double Stretch-Drawing Process (원통의 2단 인장드로잉 성형에 관한 연구)

  • It is clearly demonstrated that deeper cups could be formed by single and double stretch-drawings from smaller circular blanks due to such wall-thinning action than in the usual deep-drawing of larger blanks. From this fact, it is emphasized that the deep-drawability of a sheet metal Is not evaluated simply by the conventional L.D.R (limiting drawing ratio), but the depth of the drawn cup should also be taken into account. Many experimental data about various metals and thicknesses given in this paper offer a valuable information in this process for more general use which recommends to replace the conventional deep-drawing process by the stretch-drawing process both for single and double operations. In the single stretch-drawing, it is also confirmed that a deeper cup can be produced by raising the blank-holding force at later stage of operation.
