  • After the second world war the vulgar functionalism, which was called as the international style, was developed in the interest of the post capitalistic society. The vulgar functionalism reflected only inhuman commercialism and brought to psycho-mental and social problems. By the result in the mid-sixties the criticism movement of the functionalism had began as a king of the 68-movement in the german architecture and design scene. And it went on in the seventies, and had a decisive influence on the forming of the extended functionalism. The extended functionalism is bases on the definition of functions in the using process of the mass production and consumption society. Those functions, viz. Practical Function, Theoretical Function, Ecological Function, (formal-) Aesthetical Function, Indicating Function, Symbolical Function, have been the core criteria in the analysis and developing phase of the todays' german design scene.

  • The purpose of this study is to define On-line Video Syllabus Template which is based on adaptive mode with interaction.A syllabus has the significance as a teaching and learning plan. However, it has not only been considered as a formal document, has also been limited into a simple query since it has been made into a fragmentary structure, lacking of link between other services and reuse. Additionally, this paper is aimed to design three-dimensional syllabus which makes it possible to provide students with practical information related to teaching and learning and share it with teachers and students. The following is the technique proposed in this paper. It is made to be served for the Syllabus centered on teaching and learning, which is including the definition of hierarchy structure, the media contents application according to the learner's preference and real-time variation function. On-line Video Syllabus provided through LMS has availability and credibility of teaching and learning, in that it enable increased utilization by strengthening convenience.

  • In this study, contents of 'the 2007 revised curriculum handbook' and 16 kinds of mathematics textbooks were analyzed first. The purpose of this study is to examine the understanding state of students at general high schools by making questionnaires to survey the understanding state on contents of chapter of complex number based on above analysis. Results of research can be summarized as follows. First, the content of chapter of complex number in textbook was not logically organized. In the introduction of imaginary number unit, two kinds of marks were presented without any reason and it has led to two kinds of notation of negative square root. There was no explanation of difference between delimiter symbol and operator symbol at all. The concepts were presented as definition without logical explanations. Second, students who learned with textbook in which problems were pointed out above did not have concept of complex number for granted, and recognized it as expansion of operation of set of real numbers. It meant that they were confused of operation of complex numbers and did not form the image about number system itself of complex number. Implications from this study can be obtained as follows. First, as we came over to the 7th curriculum, the contents of chapter of complex number were too abbreviated to have the logical configuration of chapter in order to remove the burden for learning. Therefore, the quantitative expansion and logical configuration fit to the level for high school students corresponding to the formal operating stage are required for correct configuration of contents of chapter. Second, teachers realize the importance of chapter of complex number and reconstruct the contents of chapter to let students think conceptually and logically.

  • In the object oriented methods, most of the objects are independent from the another. However to get their job done from the system's point of view, they must have some kind of connection established among them. This means that the cooperation among the objects through the interaction is just as important as the static side of the objects. Usually, checking for correctness, compatibility and reasoning of the objects is limited due to the fact that the interactions between the objects are expressed in the form of a line or a box. The reuse experts often claim that the design reuse is more important than code reuse, mostly because it can be applied in more contexts and so is more common. The composition of the objects is also considered as a very important definition in the area of framework which is generally known as a technique to support reuse at both the coding and the designing level. Therefore on this thesis, the composition of such objects has been studied to provide a formal means of evaluating the component's compatibility and better possibility for further improvement in the area of framework, by formalizing the component compositions using the LOTOS.

  • One of the most important aspects of the research on multi-agent systems is the definition of agent communication languages(ACLs) and the specification of a proper formal semantics of ACLs. In this paper, we propose an illocutionary effect-based FIPA-ACL semantics which overcomes the two traditional semantic approaches. The key idea of this new semantics is based on the semantic concepts of success and satisfaction conditions of illocutionary acts in speech act theory, and the common ground theory-based framework. As case studies using this new semantics, we define the primitive speech acts of FIPA-ACL such as inform and request. For the strengths of the proposed approach we illustrate our new semantics on an e-commerce agent purchase negotiation. Also, we compare this approach with two traditional semantic approaches for ACLs.

  • Geographic Information System(GIS) deal with data which can potentially be useful for a wida range of applications. However, the information needs of each application usually vary, specially in resolution, detail level, and representation style, as defined in the modeling phase of the geographic database design. To be able to deal with such diverse needs, the GIS must after features that allow multiple representations for each geographic entity of phenomenon. This paper addresses the problem of formal definition of the objects and their relationships on geographical information systems. The geographical data is divided in two main classes: geo-objects and geo-fields, which describe discrete and continuous representations of spatial reality. I will study the classes and the roles of relationships over geo-fields, geo-objects and nongeo-objects. Therefore, this paper will contribute the efficient design of geographical class hierarchy schema by means of formalizing attribute-domains of classes.

  • Analysis model focuses only on functional requirements and postpones nonfunctional requirements and implementation specific issues until subsequent design activities are undertaken. Based on the analysis models, the design activities are performed by refining and clarifying the analysis models. Thus, the quality of analysis models has a vast impact on the design models. Therefore, much effort should be taken to build correct analysis model. In this paper, we propose a set of structural constraints that analysis models of typical object-oriented development methods should satisfy. Three kinds of constraints are proposed: class related constraints, relation related constraints, and usage related constraints. For each constraint, formal definition and description with OCL are provided. In addition, through a case study with two medium-sired industrial systems, we demonstrated that the proposed approach can help to identify and correct serious deficiencies in object-oriented analysis models.

  • While applying the systems engineering (SE) in systems development, a series of technical reviews play a critical role and is intended to monitor the status of the progress and outcomes of the project for which appropriate technical plans prepared earlier should be executed. It is noted however that during the technical review executed as planned, a lot of problems usually come out. Included are the ambiguity in the reports of the progress status and outcomes, discrepancies among the opinions from different participants, and the delay in carrying out the tasks. To solve those problems in an early stage, informal reviews are usually adopted before the formal technical reviews are held. A type of the informal reviews is the peer review. This paper is concerned with the peer review process model to make the later technical reviews more effective. Specifically, we first review the necessity and meaning of the peer reviews. We then study a model for the peer review process. To model the process, the methods of an IDEF modeling and schema definition have been applied using a computer-aided SE tool, Cradle(R), in the environment of the national research and development project. As a result, the implemented process model can show hew the peer review process is designed and managed to be utilized in the technical review. The documents related with the peer review process can also be generated automatically from the developed model Database. Finally, a general misunderstanding about the peer review and its improvement plan have also been mentioned.

  • Massive Open Online Courses(MOOC), originally started from United States, have recently received a great deal of attention all over the world. MOOC means free online courses that anyone can attend anytime. In Korea, KERIS(Korea Education and Research Information Service) and some universities provide various MOOC services. The purpose of this paper is to present current status and improvement suggestions of MOOC. We first introduce the formal definition and history of MOOC, then discuss current status of MOOC services in Korea and other countries. We finally present improvement suggestions that include induction of active participation for universities, value creation for campus, development of revenue model, providing motivation to students for finishing courses, development of LMS(Learning Management System), securing well-trained lecturers, translation of lecture materials, ensuring quality of authentification system of MOOC services.
