In continuation of the previous work (The New Medical Journal, Vol. 12, No. 3, 111, 1969), the effects on the bactericidal activity against coli form group, on vitamin C content and ascorbate oxidase activity of the purple laver due to the $^{80}Co$ gamma-irradiation were studied. The results obtained are ; 1) After the 0.1m rad./hr. doses treatment of gamma-irradiation for 1 hours to the laver, the coli form group was being remarkably destoryed and after the application for 10 hours the coli form group was completely destroyed. 2) The content of vitamin C was gradually decreased during the gamma-irradiation to the laver. According to the sensory test, no changes in flavor nad color were indicated for 9-10 hours treatment. But, the loss of ascorbic was much than that of dehydroascorbic acid after 10-hour treatment. 3) And also, the ascorbate oxidase activity due to the irradiation waas conspicuously decreased.

From now on, the network is being developed into PSTN(public switched telephone network) and PDN(public data network), that is depend on the form of data. The former one pursues sending voice, and the latter one pursues sending data. But it causes big loss of the economy and efficiency. So, ISDN, processing voice and data at same time, gives a big profit to user. To enlarge the ISDN at the narrow area, it is necessary that study to send the mixture form of voice and data in LAN environment. So, this paper proposes the algorithm about the mixture form of voice and data in ethernet and token-ring. that is widely used in these days.
CA mortar layer disengagement will give rise to the overall structural changes of the track and variation in the vibration form of the ballastless track. By establishing a vehicle-track-viaduct coupling analysis and calculation model, it is possible to analyze the CRTS-I type track structure vibration response while the track slab is disengaging with the power flow evaluation method, to compare the two disengaging types, namely partial contact loss at one edge beneath track slab and partial contact loss at midpoint beneath track slab. It can also study how the length of disengaging influences the track structures vibration power. It is showed that when the partial contact loss beneath track slab, and the relative vibration energy level between the rail and the track slab increases significantly within [10, 200]Hz with the same disengaging length, the partial contact loss at one edge beneath track slab has more prominent influence on the vibration power than the partial contact loss at midpoint beneath track slab. With the increase of disengaging length, the relative vibration energy level of the track slab grows sharply, but it will change significantly when it reaches 1.56 m. Little effect will be caused by the relative vibration energy level of the viaduct. The partial contact loss beneath the track slab will cause more power distribution and transmission between the trail and track slab, and will then affect the service life of the rail and track slab.

Quality requirements of manufactured products or parts are given in the form of specification limits on the quality characteristics of individual units. If a product is to meet the customer's fitness for use criteria, it should be produced by a process which is stable or repeatable. In other words, it must be capable of operating with little variability around the target value or nominal value of the product's quality characteristic. In order to maintain and improve product quality, we need to apply statistical process control techniques such as histogram, check sheet, Pareto chart, cause and effect diagram, or control charts. Among those techniques, the most important one is control charting. The cumulative sum (CUSUM) control charts have been used in statistical process control (SPC) in industries for monitoring process shifts and supporting online measurement. The objective of this research is to apply Taguchi's quality loss function concept to cost based CUSUM control chart design. In this study, a modified quality loss function was developed to reflect quality loss situation where general quadratic loss curve is not appropriate. This research also provided a methodology for the design of CUSUM charts using Taguchi quality loss function concept based on the minimum cost per hour criterion. The new model differs from previous models in that the model assumes that quality loss is incurred even in the incontrol period. This model was compared with other cost based CUSUM models by Wu and Goel, According to numerical sensitivity analysis, the proposed model results in longer average run length in in-control period compared to the other two models.
In response to increased security concerns, biometrics is becoming more focused on overcoming or complementing conventional knowledge and possession-based authentication. However, biometric authentication requires special care since the loss of biometric data is irrecoverable. In this paper, we present a biometric authentication framework, where several novel techniques are applied to provide security and privacy. First, a biometric template is saved in a transformed form. This makes it possible for a template to be canceled upon its loss while the original biometric information is not revealed. Second, when a user is registered with a server, a biometric template is stored in a special form, named a 'soft vault'. This technique prevents impersonation attacks even if data in a server is disclosed to an attacker. Finally, a one-time template technique is applied in order to prevent replay attacks against templates transmitted over networks. In addition, the whole scheme keeps decision equivalence with conventional face authentication, and thus it does not decrease biometric recognition performance. As a result, the proposed techniques construct a secure face authentication framework in open networks.
Costume heritages of an excavated silk fabrics should be preserved without damage. In order to artificially restore the excavated silk fabrics, alkaline aqueous solution, as a simulated corpse, and two kinds of silk fabrics were used. Two kinds of silk fabrics were treated by aqueous alkaline solution according to strength retention value(100, 80, 60, 40, 20$\%$). The fine structure and physical properties of alkaline treated silk fabrics were investigated with various techniques such as wide-angle X-ray diffraction, tensile test, weight loss, shrinkage, SEM. and yellowness. As the alkaline treatment time increased tensile strength of silk fabrics decreased. However, weight loss and shrinkage slightly increased. The diffraction intensity of $\beta-form$ crystal declined and $\alpha-form$ crystal diffraction intensity disappeared with the treatment.

In common globular proteins, the native form is in its most stable state. However, the native form of inhibitory serpins (serine protease inhibitors) and some viral membrane fusion proteins is in a metastable state. Metastability in these proteins is critical to their biological functions. Our previous studies revealed that unusual interactions, such as side-chain overpacking, buried polar groups, surface hydrophobic pockets, and internal cavities are the structural basis of the native metastability. To understand the mechanism by which these structural defects regulate protein functions, cavity-filling mutations of a 1-antitrypsin, a prototype serpin, were characterized. Increasing conformational stability is correlated with decreasing inhibitory activity. Moreover, the activity loss appears to correlate with the decrease in the rate of the conformational switch during complex formation with a target protease. We also increased the stability of a 1-antitrypsin greatly via combining various stabilizing single amino acid substitutions that were distributed throughout the molecule. The results showed that a substantial increase of stability, over 13 kcal/mol, affected the inhibitory activity with a correlation of 11% activity loss per kcal/mol. The results strongly suggest that the native metastability of proteins is indeed a structural design that regulates protein functions and that the native strain of a 1-antitrypsin distributed throughout the molecule regulates the inhibitory function in a concerted manner.

In this paper, considering that perfect channel state information (CSI) is hard to achieve in practice, the downlink capacity of distributed antenna systems (DAS) with imperfect CSI and multiple receive antennas is investigated over composite Rayleigh fading channel. According to the performance analysis, using the numerical calculation, the probability density function (PDF) of the effective output SNR is derived. With this PDF, accurate closed-form expressions of ergodic capacity and outage probability of DAS with imperfect CSI are, respectively, obtained, and they include the ones under perfect CSI as special cases. Besides, the outage capacity of DAS in the presence of imperfect CSI is also derived, and a Newton's method based practical iterative algorithm is proposed to find the accurate outage capacity. By utilizing the Gaussian distribution approximation, another approximate closed-form expression of outage capacity is also derived, and it may simplify the calculation of accurate outage capacity. These theoretical expressions can provide good performance evaluation for downlink DAS for both perfect and imperfect CSI. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the theoretical analysis, and the system capacity can be improved by increasing the receive antennas, and decreasing the estimation error or path loss. Moreover, the system can tolerate the estimation error variance up to about 0.01 with a slight degradation in the capacity.
