  • The patient had bruxism and epilepsy tendency. Inadequate or unstable posterior support was identified due to severe anterior attrition and decreased occlusal vertical dimension. Prematurities of posterior occlusal and wear facets increased the function of anterior teeth, resulting in severe wear. Wear facets displayed sharply defined peripheries, which are matched on articulated diagnostic casts. Also the patient showed C III malocclusion tendency, and lost some facial contour with drooping corners on the mouth. In this case, the alteration of OVD (Occlusal Vertical Dimention) may provide a biologically compatible adjunct to the treatment such as dentofacial esthetics, improved visual proportion in facial heightand mechanical solutions to the force-management of the masticatory system. The patient requires extensive restorative treatment to regain appropriate function, esthetics and comfort. According to the report by Farhad Fays, the average vertical distance from the maxillary to the mandibular mucolabial reflection in the region of the central incisors is approximately 34mm. However, the vertical distance of this patient was found to be 32mm, which was necessary to add gauge 20-sheets to apply vertical dimension. A removable occlusal overlay splint, which restores OVD to the estimated optimalposition, is the general first trial. The patient was observed periodically for 6 weeks, while appropriate adjustments were made vertical dimension to function. When patient felt comfortable with the splint, the teeth were prepared, and provisional restorations are placed for 3 months. The provisional restoration was fabricated by a diagnostic wax-up. When the patient felt comfortable with the provisional restoration, the final restoration mimics OVD, function, and esthetics that have been developed in the treatment restorations. Restoration of the extremely worn dentition presents a substantial challenge to thedentists. Therefore, careful evaluation of the etiology, history, and factors associated with occlusal vertical dimension should be preceded prior to the appropriate treatment planning.

  • Microstructure and surface roughness of the sensing materials should be improved to use them in advanced sensor applications because the uneven surface roughness degrades the light reflection, pattern resolution, and devices performance. Chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) processing was selected for improving the surface roughness of $CeO_2$ which is one of the well known materials for the oxygen gas sensors. Surface roughness and removal rate of spin coated $CeO_2$ thin films were examined with a change of CMP process parameters such as down force and table speed. The optimized process condition, reflected by the surface roughness with the hillock-free surface as well as the excellent removal rate with the good uniformity, was obtained. The effects of the improved surface roughness on the sensing property of $CeO_2$ thin films were also confirmed. The improved sensitivity of $CeO_2$ thin films for oxygen sensors were obtained after CMP process by the improved surface characteristics. Therefore, we conclude that sensing property of $CeO_2$ thin film is strongly dependent on the surface roughness of $CeO_2$ thin films by using CMP process.

  • The 1MW OTEC (Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion) platform was designed for application in equatorial seas. In this study, the OTEC platform was investigated using numerical and experimental methods. An octagon-shaped OTEC platform was investigated using the Ocean Engineering Basin of KRISO. These experiments included various tests of regular waves, irregular waves and irregular waves with current (wave+current). The responses of the platform in regular waves showed good agreement between the numerical and experimental results, including the motion RAO, wave run up, and mean drift force. The peak period of heave and pitch motions were observed around 0.5 rad/s, and the effect of the total reflection was found under short wave conditions. The standard deviation (STD) of the platform motion was checked in irregular waves of equatorial and Hawaiian seas. The STD of the pitch was less than $4^{\circ}$ different from the operability requirement under equatorial conditions and the surge STD of the wave frequency showed good agreement between the numerical and experimental results. The STD values of the surge and pitch were increased 66.6% and 92.8% by the current effects in irregular waves, but the pitch STD was less than $4^{\circ}$ under equatorial conditions. This study showed that the STD of the surge was affected by spring effects. Thus, the watch circle of the platform and tension of the mooring lines must be evaluated for a specific design in the future.

  • The main factor for the amplification of ground motions near the crest or the toe of a slope is the reflection of the incident waves. The effects of the slope topography on the surrounding lands over the crest or at the toe can amplify the seismic responses of buildings. This study investigates the seismic performance of the slope topography and three mid-rise buildings (five, ten, and fifteen-storey) located near the crest and toe of the slope by 3D numerical analysis. The nonlinear model was used to represent the real behavior of building and ground elements. The average results of seven records were used in the investigations. Based on the analysis, the amplification factor of acceleration near the crest and toe of the slope was the most effective at distances of 2.5 and 1.3 times the slope height, respectively. Accordingly, the seismic performance of buildings was studied at a distance equal to the height of the slope from the crest and toe. The seismic response results of buildings showed that the slope topography to have little impact on up to five-storey buildings located near the crest. Taking into account a topography-soil-structure interaction system increases the storey displacement and base shear in the building. Accordingly, in topography-soil-structure interaction analyses, the maximum lateral displacement was increased by 71% and 29% in ten and fifteen-storey buildings, respectively, compare to the soil-structure interaction system. Further, the base shear force was increased by 109% and 78% in these buildings relative to soil-structure interaction analyses.

  • In weapon assignment studies to defend against threats such as ballistic missiles and long range artillery, threat assessment was partially lacking in analysis of various threat attributes, and considering the threat characteristics of warheads, which are difficult to judge in the early flight stages, it is very important to apply more reliable optimal solutions than approximate solution using LP model, Meta heuristics Genetic Algorithm, Tabu search and Particle swarm optimization etc. Our studies suggest Generic Rule based threat evaluation and weapon assignment algorithm in the basis of various attributes of threats. First job of studies analyzes information on Various attributes such as the type of target, Flight trajectory and flight time, range and intercept altitude of the intercept system, etc. Second job of studies propose Rule based threat evaluation and weapon assignment algorithm were applied to obtain a more reliable solution by reflection the importance of the interception system. It analyzes ballistic missiles and long-range artillery was assigned to multiple intercept system by real time threat assessment reflecting various threat information. The results of this study are provided reliable solution for Weapon Assignment problem as well as considered to be applicable to establishing a missile and long range artillery defense system.

  • In this paper, we propose a physics simulation for augmented reality (AR) billiards content. The characteristics of the physics simulation for the proposed AR billiards content are as follows. First, physical equations are derived by calculating the force and moment of inertia applied to the billiards ball to realize the motion of the billiards ball similar to the real one in the AR environment. Then, we determine the velocity and angular velocity of the virtual billiards ball associated with the rotation of the virtual billiards ball with respect to the impact point. Second, using some vectors such as incidnet vector, normal vector, reflection vector, the trajectory of the virtual billiards ball would be implement. these equations are applied to AR environment so that AR billiards content could be implement. This physics simulation allows users to feel like the real world using a virtual pool table and induce them to interact with the real environment. As a result of the experiment, the accuracy range between the path of the real billiards ball and the path of the virtual billiards ball was calculated to be 97.75% to 99.11%. Therefore, it was determined that the performance of the physics simulation for the AR billiards content proposed in this paper performs similarly to the path of the real billiards ball.

  • Heteroepitaxial $Y_2O_3$ films were grown on a Si(111) substrate by ionized cluster beam deposition(ICBD) in ultra high vacuum, and its qualities such as crystllitnity, film stress, and morphological characteristics were investigated using the various measurement methods. The crystallinity was investigated by x-ray diffraction (XRD) and reflection high energy electron diffraction (RHEED). Interface crystallinity was also examined by Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy(RBS) channeling, transmission electron microscopy(TEM). The stress of the films was measured by RBS channeling and XRD. Surface and interface morphological characteristics were investigated by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and x-ray scattering method. Comparing the interface with the surface characteristics, we can conclude that many defects at the interface region were generated by interface reaction between the yttrium metal and SiO2 layer and by ion beam characteristic such as shallow implantation, so that they influenced the film qualities. The film quality was dominantly depended on the characteristic temperature range. In the temperature range from $500^{\circ}C$ to $600^{\circ}C$, the crystallinity was mainly improved and the surface roughness was drastically decreased. On the other hand, in the temperature range from $600^{\circ}C$ to $700^{\circ}C$, the compressive stress and film density were dominantly increased, and the island size was more decreased. Also the surface morphological shape was transformed from elliptical shape to triangular. The film stress existed dominantly at the interface region due to the defects generation.

  • In this study, 3D-NIT(3-Dimensional Numerical Irregular wave Tank) model in which regular wave as well as stable irregular wave can be generated in 3-dimensional numerical irregular wave tank was proposed. To verify validity, the following steps need to be conducted: 1) comparative analysis between calculated waveforms and targeted waveforms at the wave generating point, 2) comparative analysis with the existing experimental values of overtopping volume estimated, targeting shore protection structures installed on a slope bed, 3) comparison with the existing numerical and hydraulic experimental results through application in the analysis on the wave deformation by structures and wave force acting on the vertical cylindrical structures. Based on the results, characteristics of the breaking wave forces according to incident waves and interval distance of structures were identified through application of 3D-NIT model in the analysis on the breaking wave forces acting on the cylindrical structures installed on a slope bed, and reflection and overtopping was reviewed through application in the special breakwaters on the domestic fields. The numerical results obtained the 3D-NIT model are in good agreement with experimental results, and its applicaion to the complex-shpaed coastal structures is verified.

  • We performed a non-destructive geophysical survey such as an elastic wave survey, electric specific resistance survey, plate loading test, etc. in order to grasp the structure and status of the ground around the pillar gate and to provide the directions and design data for preservation and maintenance during reconstruction. The result of electric specific resistance survey shows 50-1300 ohm-m range of general electric specific resistance distribution. Besides, the positions around 1m south of stone pillars, between stone pillar No.3 and 4, and 1m north of stone pillar No.2 and 3 show abnormality of relatively lower electric specific resistance than their surroundings. The abnormality of low electric specific resistance appearing between stone pillar No.3 and 4 shows consistency with the abnormal section appearing from the result of elastic wave reflection survey. The result of a plate loading test shows that allowable bearing force is over $10.70tf/m^2$, and the settlement amount at this time was calculated as 19.635mm. The design load during reconstruction of pillar gates was calculated as $16.37t/m^2$ by applying assumption values, which is far more than the allowable bearing force, so it is judged that a measure to strengthen the foundation ground is necessary.
