The purpose of this study was to compare the ring lock type knee-ankle-foot orthosis (KAFO) with newly developed 4-bar linkage KAFO on the gait characteristics of persons with poliomyelitis clinically. This 4-bar linkage is the stance control type KAFO which provide the stability during stance phase and knee flexion during swing phase. Two subjects participated in this study voluntarily. We provided the customized 4-bar linkage KAFO then asked the subjects to walk in level surface and stairs under the two different KAFO conditions. The characteristics of gait in the persons with poliomyelitis were evaluated using a 3D motion analysis system and force plate. Additionally 6 minute walk test for physiological cost index were conducted using pulse oximeter to measure the energy consumption. In the results of this study, the differences of 4-bar linkage KAFO compared with ring lock type KAFO are as follows: (1) Walking speed, stride length, and step length on level increased in subjects, (2) The gait symmetry was improved by generated knee flexion and decreased pelvic external rotation on level and stairs walking, (3) Decreased vertical excursion of center of mass and pelvic elevation during swing phase was decreased on level, (4) Knee extension moment, hip flexion moment, hip and knee internal rotation moment of non-braced limb were decreased on level walking, (5) Walking speed in 6-minute walk test was increased and physiological cost index was decreased. These findings indicate that 4-bar linkage KAFO compared with ring lock type KAFO is effective in enhancing pattern, endurance, and energy consumption in level surface and stairs walking.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a comprehensive self-management program promoting self efficacy for Type 2 diabetic patients. Methods: The study was a methodological research design in which previous related research was reviewed to develop the comprehensive self-management program promoting self efficacy using self efficacy theory. Results: Comprehensive self-management programs promoting self efficacy included the whole range of eight self-management domains: diet, exercise, medication, self-testing of blood glucose, complication or foot, stress, time, and general health, and consisted of four sources of self efficacy: enactive mastery experience, vicarious experience, verbal persuasion, and physiological and affective states, as strategies to promote self efficacy. Developmental methods included, in addition to large and small group education, individual education or counseling, and telephone counseling. Conclusion: Further studies are needed in community health centers or hospitals to establish the effects on self-management compliance and glycemic control of the comprehensive self-management program promoting self efficacy.
We have analyzed the external morphology and the environment of the foraging site of Vespertilio sinensis. The external morphology was analyzed by twelve parameters and the environment characteristics of the foraging site was analyzed using GIS 10.1 program. The wing membrane was inserted into the ankle of the hind foot and the wing ratio was 1.42, the middle type between broad-short wing type and long-narrow wing type. The fur color was blackish brown but the guard hair color was whitish. The shape of the ear was a rounded triangle and tragus was a fan shape. This study showed that V. sinensis preferred the deciduous forest of the upper forest zone, where human interference was less. We believed that abundance of insects, depending on water system, was closely related to the use of the foraging site. This result showed that the environment characteristics was very similar to the nature preservation zone including Baekyang valley and Keumsun valley in Naejangsan National Park.
Type-1 phosphatase (PP-1) was assessed in foot muscle (FM) and hepatopancreas (HP) of estivating (EST) Otala lactea. Snail PP-1 displayed several conserved traits, including sensitivity to inhibitors, substrate affinity, and reduction in size to a 39 kDa catalytic subunit (PP-1c). During EST, PP-1 activity in FM and HP crude extracts was reduced, though kinetics and protein levels of purified PP-1c isoforms were not altered. PP-1c protein levels increased and decreased in nuclear and glycogen-associated fractions, respectively, during EST. Gel filtration determined that a 257 kDa low $K_m$ PP-1$\alpha$ complex decreased during estivation whereas a 76 kDa high $K_m$ complex increased in EST. Western blotting confirmed that the 76 kDa protein consisted of PP-1$\alpha$ and nuclear inhibitor of PP-1 (NIPP-1). A suppression of PP-1 activity factors in the overall metabolic rate depression in estivating snails and the mechanism is mediated through altered cellular localization and interaction with binding partners.

The objective of the study was to observe the difference of moving function of lower-limb in relation to the length 8t silouutte of tight skirt. Four types of tight skirts (2 lengths$\times$2 silhouettes) were made for the experiment. The surface E.M.S in four different locations of leg muscles (Rectos femoris, Semitendinosus, Tibalis anterior, Gastrocnemius) were recorded. The sensory test to decide how to be fatigued after longtime wearing of skirt were examined two times per a day. The fatigue sensory test was scored a Likert-type scale (1= no fatigue, 5=heavy fatigue). Data were analyzed by the repeated ANOVA ann Duncan's multiple range test with use of SAS Package. The main results of this study were as follows: 1. As a result of analysis of E.M.S., in case of walking on the floor there was significant difference in the moving function according to length of skirt and in case of stepping there was significant differnce in three ways (length silhouette, length, silhouette). 2. From the record of walking the step-length, stride-length, step-width were found affected by garments, but foot-angle was not affected. The moving function of slim type was lower than that of semi type and that of ankle-length skirt was lower than that of knee-length skirt. 3. The results of the sensory test agreed with that of E.M.G and Footprints.

Two wheel type electric vehicles driving with the electric motors for guard are used increasingly at the airport and harbor place to move between narrow indoors. This type two wheel electric vehicles are powerd by batteries and using the steering control apparatus including multi sensors and handle operating device for forward and backward, rotating moving. At this research, we design sensor interfacing electronic control system use only the center of foot balance without the handle type steering apparatus. This design is for safety of drivers at one's cornering.

The X-ray device used for medical treatment is classified into fixed type that is used by installing at the location with the stable power supply and mobile type that can be taken by moving the X-ray device to the location where a patient is. Mobile X-ray device which is typically used in the mobile type of X-ray can be used very usefully beyond the space restriction. However, due to its difficulty to generate high-voltage, it is mainly applied to take hand and foot shootings which only need low output power. In this study, by designing and producing the large volume of mobile X-ray device which doesn't have the limitations on diagnostic areas of the body, the operating characteristics of device according to the loading change was identified.

With the advances of digital scanning technology in dentistry, the interests in facial scanning in orthodontics have increased. There are many different manufacturers of facial scanners marketing to the dental practice. How do you know which one will work best for you? What questions should you be asking? We suggest a clinical guideline which may help you make an informed decision when choosing facial scanners. The characteristics of 7 facial scanners were discussed in this article. Here are some considerations for choosing a facial scanner. *Accuracy: For facial scanners to be of real value, having an appropriate camera resolution is necessary to achieve more accurate facial image representation. For orthodontic application, the scanner must create an accurate representation of an entire face. *Ease of Use: Scanner-related issues that impact their ease of use include type of light; scan type; scan time; file type generated by the scanner; unit size and foot print; and acceptance of scans by third-party providers. *Cost: Most of the expenses associated with facial scanning involve the fixed cost of purchase and maintenance. Other expenses include technical support, warranty costs, transmission fees, and supply costs. This article suggests a clinical guideline to make the right choice for facial scanner in orthodontics.
Objectives: A women's body type or body temperature is often thought to be associated with gynecologic disorders or dysmenorrhea. The purpose of this study is to analyse the characteristics of body type and body temperature in relation to gynecologic disorders and dysmenorrhea. Methods: We studied 40 patients visiting Kangnam Kyung-hee Medical Center from Jan. 1st, 2010 to March 31st, 2012. Body type and body temperature were compared between Gynecologic disorder group and non-Gynecologic disorder group. Body type and body temperature were compared again between Dysmenorrhea group and non-Dysmenorrhea group. SPSS 18.0 for Windows was used to analyse the data. Results: There was no statistically significance difference in body type and body temperature between Gynecologic disorder group and non-Gynecologic disorder group. Dysmenorrhea group had more developed lower body and greater temperature difference between lower abdomen and foot compared to non-Dysmenorrhea group. Conclusions: The results suggest that women with developed lower body and greater temperature difference between abdomen and lower extremity are more prone to dysmenorrhea.
To find the differences between the real somatotype and the ideal somatotype, WHR(Waist to Hip Ratio), WCR(Waist to Chest Ratio), and body cathexis were analysed by using ANOVA test, Duncan's multiple range test, and $x^2$ test. Fashion image sought by female collegians was surveyed, too. The results were as follows. WHRs in slim, usual, fat body type were 0.75, 0.76, and 0.83 and WCRs were 0.77, 0.81, 0.80. The respondents who considered themselves to be overweight recognized themselves to be fatter than their real weight. They were not satisfied with their bust girth in slim body type, thighs and calves in usual body type, and all parts except for foot length, hand length and arm length in fat body type. 60% of the thin people considered their body hourglass shape, 30.4% of regular people recognized their body triangle type, 43.8% of fat people thought their body was round form. They thought current ideal body size was bigger in height and bust girth and smaller in waist girth and hip girth, and weight than real body size. Also they responded ideal body shape was an hourglass type independent of somatotype. The pursuit of clothing image was that 45.5% of female collegians were fashionable and raffine and 10.4% of female collegians was elegant and graceful. Among the body area, body parts that may have an effect on body image were body length in 13.1% of the respondents, waist girth in 10.7% of the respondents, and hip girth in 10.0% of the respondents.
