Effects of the Food Web Casting on College Student's Viewing Happiness and Attitude Towards Obesity (인터넷 개인방송 먹방 시청이 한국 대학생들의 시청행복감과 비만 인식에 미치는 영향)

  • Due tothe popularity of personal web-casting 'Food Web Casting' program, the present study aims to examine its effects on real life. The study conducted a survey with Korean college students. Results from a survey of 256 participants showed that first, the most salient reason for watching 'Food Web Casting' was gratification for killing time and gratifications for food entertainment, information, vicarious, and para social interaction are followed. Second, vicarious gratification, killing time gratification, and vicarious gourmandism gratification had a positive effect on Food Wed Casting programs viewing time, while it is not found for effects of gratifications for information and pro-social interaction. Third, it is found that Food Wed Casting programs viewing had effects on viewing happiness and negative perception of fat people. However, it did not have an effect on frequency of food delivery service. Based on these findings,implication, limitations, and topics for future research are discussed.

Study on the Influencing Factors of Business Performance and Loyalty in O2O Industry: Focusing on the Food Delivery Apps (O2O 플랫폼 품질이 자영업자의 디지털 전환에 미치는 영향: 배달앱을 중심으로)

  • Purpose - With the increase of non-face-to-face activities due to the spread of COVID-19, O2O industry has grown rapidly which reduces contact points between suppliers and consumers. O2O platform is now recognized as an indispensable channel of distribution, but the voice is getting louder that it is necessary to check how it contributes to the performance of suppliers or how its fee system or contract terms affects the expansion of O2O industry as the leading companies tend to monopolize the market. Design/methodology/approach - In this study, the scope was limited to the restaurant industry in which transactions are the most active among the O2O industry and a regression analysis was done on 775 businesses that had used guarantor service from the Seoul Credit Guarantee Foundation. Findings - Analysis on the impact of O2O platform system, information, and service quality on the business performance of the sole proprietors revealed that the system quality represented by ease of use and the information quality determined by level of timely, accurate and reliable information provided to the consumers have a statistically significant effect on the improvement of business performance. In addition, the effect of business performance on the loyalty measured by the likelihood of users continuing to use the service as well as recommending it to others was moderated by the satisfaction with contract terms, not by the fee system. Research implications or Originality - Although the number of O2O platform providers has increased manyfold, the membership rate is no more than 20%, which means that the small business owners are still struggling with digital transformation. In order for the O2O industry, which is now commonplace, to form a healthy ecosystem that satisfies both suppliers and consumers, the standard contract guidelines that are acceptable to both parties must be established and the O2O providers must offer services that help suppliers to improve performance.

  • Beacon is a wireless communication device that can automatically recognize the smart device in the short distance and transmit the necessary data, Beacon is a representative Internet of Things (IoT) facility in the era of the 4th Industrial Revolution, which is utilized in various fields such as short-distance information delivery, mobile location service, shopping, and marketing, and is constantly evolving. In this paper, it is based on tourist site-based recommendation information service. A system is proposed that recommends customized information according to the user's interest, preference, etc. by incorporating beacon technology. In other words, it acts as an information agent that informs tourists of desired information. In order to meet the needs of tourists, it is necessary to build an intelligent tourism recommendation system. The personalized Korean food and tourism recommendation management system using the beacon technology proposed in this paper is expected to provide high-quality services not only to foreigners visiting Korea but also to Korean tourists.

The effects of benefit perception and risk perception on consumer evaluation during overseas direct purchase (해외직접구매의 혜택지각 및 위험지각 요인이 소비자 평가에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined factors, such as benefit perception, risk perception, product, and website, which affect consumer attitude toward overseas direct purchase. To achieve this, 298 Korean consumers who have experienced overseas direct purchasing were analyzed. The results show that delivery risk and product risk were the most influential determinants of the level of trust level in overseas direct purchase sites. In addition, the results of this study confirm that the level of trust in overseas direct purchase sites has a strong influence on both the intention to recommend and the intention to continue patronizing the site. Moreover, this study conducted a mean difference analysis according to the types of overseas direct purchases (overseas direct delivery, overseas purchasing agency, and overseas delivery agency) and product categories (clothes, food and beverage products, and household appliances). This study lists various practical implications that can be applied to each overseas direct purchase service by firm and consumer characteristics.

The Sanitary Management Procedures of Foodservice in Elementary Schools in Pusan (부산지역 학교급식의 위생관리 수행 평가)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the sanitary management procedures of foodservice in elementary schools in Pusan area. The questionnaire which were administered to 189 dietitians was used in this study as a survey method. The results were as follows. Mean total length of employment for dietitians at school foodservice was 3.7 year. The mean serving scale was 1,052 meals. Meals were served at classroom 63.5%, lunchroom 23.8%, and classroom+lunchroom 12.7% of the schools. The mean time span required of meal delivery was 31.5min at the classroom serving place. Regarding total mean score of sanitary management procedures, time temperature was 3.48/5.00, personal sanitation 4.20/5.00, equipments and facilities sanitation 3.92/5.00. The mean score of the pre preparation was 3.91/5.00 for time temperature management procedure, those of food purchasing and receiving, food storage, food production, meal. assembly.trasnportation service, and hot.cold holding were 3.83/5.00, 3.82/5.00, 3.71/5.00, 3.25/5.00, 2.30/5.00 respectively. Effects of Experiential Value on Continuous Use Intention for On-Demand Services (온디맨드(On-Demand) 서비스의 지속사용의도에 대한 경험가치 효과)

  • On-Demand services have emerged as one of the core business strategies for delivering new experiential values by providing customized services in different user-needs nowadays. Based on the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) framework, this paper focuses on the factors of environmental stimulation and emotional states of the demand-side that induce continuous intention of use from the On-Demand services. The study defines 'Informativeness', 'Fulfillment', 'Trust', and 'Convenience' as the properties of the On-Demand services and considers 'Playfulness', 'Customer Return on Investment (CROI)', and 'Service Excellence' as the aspects of the experiential values. The research shows that 'Fulfillment', 'Trust' and 'Convenience' affected the experiential value in 'Kakao Taxi (On-Demand transportation service)' while 'Informativeness', 'Fulfillment', 'Trust of platform', and 'Convenience' are represented as the related factors to the experiential value in 'Baedal Minjok (On-Demand food delivery service)'. The experiential value factors, 'CROI' and 'Service Excellence', are shown directly related to the continuous intention of use in both services. A partial mediation relationship is, furthermore, observed between the aspects of 'CROI' and 'Service Excellence' in Kakao Taxi and its 'Convenience' and 'Continuous intention of use.' In Baedal Minjok, a partial mediation relationship is found between the 'CROI' with its aspects of 'Trust of the platform', 'Convenience', and 'Continuous intention of use' as well. The results of this study may contribute a comprehensive understanding of the purpose of On-Demand services and its needs from the demand-side thus can be helpful for the supply-side.

Barriers to Employment Among Low-Income Mothers in Rural United States Communities

  • This article addresses potential barriers to sustained employment for rural low-income mothers. Drawing from a two panel longitudinal sample of 240 families from the Rural Families Speak project, it examines the extent to which human capital and family factors were related to these mothers' ability to be employed. Comparisons are made between mothers, who over a three-year period, were continuously unemployed, intermittently employed, or stably employed. Many of these rural low-income mothers faced multiple individual and family barriers that impacted their labor force participation. Notably food insecurity, mental health, caring for a young child, housing, and a family history of welfare were associated with less stable employment. The implications for public policy and service delivery are discussed.

  • This survey suggests current dairy information system in Kyong-ki province and personal computer education for dairy farmers in Korea. With the development of internet and dairy database system, more effective, quick delivery of dairy management and technology would be possible. Dairy expert's E-mail advice and using multimedia will be a great method to provide dairy technologies in Korea.

An Empirical Study on Job Embracing by Mobile Platform Workers

  • Despite the maturity of platforms, only some studies have explored the relationships between the working conditions of platform workers and their organization-like responses to these platforms. Thus, this research utilized the Job Demands-Resources Model (JD-R Model) to analyze the effects of job demands and resources on platform workers' job embracing. The data were collected from 182 food delivery riders in South Korea. This study utilized the PLS technique (partial least squares) to examine the research model. Regarding job demands, this study has found that work overload and physical effort significantly affect burnout. Regarding job resources, the results revealed that service technology support and training significantly affect work engagement. In alignment with the Job Demands-Resources literature, the findings offer tangible proof that burnout has a detrimental impact on job embracing, whereas work engagement has a beneficial effect on job embracing. Our findings indicate that work engagement exerts a more substantial beneficial effect on job embracing, and burnout reduces job embracing. Results also provide novel insights to scholars seeking a comprehensive research model on the impact of on-demand workplace conditions to help platforms attract and retain platform workers.

A Study on Visitors' Satisfaction of International Peony Festival in Heze, China through IPA (IPA를 통한 중국 허쩌 국제 모란축제관광객의 만족도에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose - This study is a study on China's national flower, the Peony Festival', with a focus on the Heze International Peony Festival, which is called the "City of Peonies, to investigate the difference in the importance and achievement of festival items". Design/methodology/approach - IPA is used to identify items that need to be improved for festival satisfaction attributes, and to suggest the direction of the annual peony festival in the future. Findings - The difference in importance and achievement for each of the 17 items of the Heze International Peony Festival, there was a statistically significant difference between importance and satisfaction, except for the peony admission ticket. It was found that satisfaction was relatively low in these items as it was higher than the average value. Second, the first quadrant showed information on traffic communication, food taste, convenient facilities (parking lot, restroom, shelter), service delivery speed, service provider attitude, natural scenery at the festival site, road signs, and information boards. Third, the diversity of cultural performances appeared in the fourth quadrant. Finally, the second quadrant is an area of high importance but low achievement. Two items were derived: the environment of the entertainment venue and the diversity of the entertainment venue. Research implications or Originality - These are the items that led to the dissatisfaction of visitors to the festival, and seem to be the items that need to be improved the most urgently.
