3.5 kHz 지층단면도에 나타난 여수해만의 퇴적물 분포 (Sediment Distribution of the Yeosu Sound on the Southern Coast of Korea Based on the 3.5 kHz Profiles)

  • The 3.5 KHz seismic survey was carried out for studying the distribution pattern of the unconsolidated sediments of the Yeosu Sound on the southern coast of the Korean Peninsula. Field data originally recorded in analog are converted and processed digitally to recover the high-resolution acoustic profiles. Across the north-south trending channel with the depth of 20~30 m, different seismic facies types are observed in the top section of sediments. The western part is characterized by the continuous high-amplitude subparallel reflectors within which the acoustic turbidity as a token of the presence of gas is commonly observed, whereas the counterpart largely shows poor reflectors and has shallow acoustic basement toward the north. The dissimilarity of the seismic expression across the channel can be interpreted as the result of the change of depositional environment caused by relative sea-level fluctuations of the late-Quaternary. During the last glacial period, the Yeosu Sound was exposed and eroded by the paleo-Seomjin River. By the following rapid rise of sea level, it was covered by the transgressive sand sheet. When the sea level reached near the present position, the muddy sediment has accumulated only in the western part of the Yeosu Sound as its depositional front has moved toward the north. It is partly caused by the asymmetrical tidal current in the Yeosu Sound where the flood near the bottom has stronger current flow and contains more suspended sediments.

  • 컴퓨터를 이용한 가상훈련체계를 구현하는데 있어, 청각적인 요소는 시각적인 요소 다음으로 인간의 중요한 인지 능력을 담당한다. 특히 청각 능력의 향상은 훈련 시의 성과와 밀접한 관련을 가지고 있으며, 훈련 효과 향상에 기여하는 바가 높다. 본 논문에서는 이와 같은 가상훈련체계를 구축하는데 있어 반드시 필요한 음향시스템을 기존에 단순한 재생이 아닌 사용자 혹은 개발자가 필요로 하는 음원을 직접 저작할 수 있는가에 초점을 두었으며, 머리전달함수(HRTF: Head Related Transfer Function)를 이용한 음원을 수정 및 편집하고 사용할 수 있는 시험체계를 개발하였다. 체계 성능 평가를 위하여 기능 및 청감 테스트를 실시하였다.

상악 총의치 장착 환자 언어의 음향학적 특성 연구 (Acoustic Characteristics of Patients with Maxillary Complete Dentures)

  • Speech intelligibility in patients with complete dentures is an important clinical problem depending on the material used. The objective of this study was to investigate the speech of two edentulous subjects fitted with a complete maxillary prosthesis made of two different palatal materials: chrome-cobalt alloy and acrylic resin. Three patients with complete dentures in the experiment group and ten people in the controls groups participated in the experiment. CSL, Visi-Pitch were used to measure speech characteristics. The test words consisted of a simple vowel /e/, meaningless three syllabic words containing fricative, affricated and stops sounds, and sustained fricative sounds /s/ and /$\int$/. The analysis speech parameters were vowel and lateral formants, VOT, sound durations, sound pressure level and fricative frequency. Data analysis was conducted by a series of paired T-test. The findings like the following: (1) Vowel formant one of patients with complete denture is higher than that of the control group (p<0.05), while lateral formant three of patients with complete denture is lower than that of the control group (p<0.0l). (2) Patients with complete denture produced lower speech intelligibility with low fricative frequency (/$\int$/) than control group (p<0.0). The speech intelligibility of patients with metal prosthesis was higher than that of those with resin prosthesis (p<0.05). (3) Fricative, lateral and stop sound durations of patients with complete denture were longer than those of the control group (p<0.01 and p<0.05), respectively. Total sound durations of patients with metal prosthesis were similar to that of the control group (p<0.05), while those with resin prosthesis had a shorter duration (p<0.01). This implied that those with metal prosthesis had higher speech intelligibility than those with resin prosthesis. (4) Patients with complete denture had higher sound pressure levels /t/ and /c/ than the control group (p<0.01). However, sound pressure levels for /c/ of patients with metal prosthesis or resin prosthesis was similar to the control group (p<0.05). (5) Patients with complete denture had higher fundamental frequency than the control group (p<0.01).

Sound-Field Speech Evoked Auditory Brainstem Response in Cochlear-Implant Recipients

  • Background and Objectives: Currently limited information is available on speech stimuli processing at the subcortical level in the recipients of cochlear implant (CI). Speech processing in the brainstem level is measured using speech-auditory brainstem response (S-ABR). The purpose of the present study was to measure the S-ABR components in the sound-field presentation in CI recipients, and compare with normal hearing (NH) children. Subjects and Methods: In this descriptive-analytical study, participants were divided in two groups: patients with CIs; and NH group. The CI group consisted of 20 prelingual hearing impairment children (mean age=8.90±0.79 years), with ipsilateral CIs (right side). The control group consisted of 20 healthy NH children, with comparable age and sex distribution. The S-ABR was evoked by the 40-ms synthesized /da/ syllable stimulus that was indicated in the sound-field presentation. Results: Sound-field S-ABR measured in the CI recipients indicated statistically significant delayed latencies, than in the NH group. In addition, these results demonstrated that the frequency following response peak amplitude was significantly higher in CI recipients, than in the NH counterparts (p<0.05). Finally, the neural phase locking were significantly lower in CI recipients (p<0.05). Conclusions: The findings of sound-field S-ABR demonstrated that CI recipients have neural encoding deficits in temporal and spectral domains at the brainstem level; therefore, the sound-field S-ABR can be considered an efficient clinical procedure to assess the speech process in CI recipients.

웹툰의 사운드 표현에 관한 연구 (A Study of Sound Expression in Webtoon)

  • 웹툰은 출판만화에서 사운드를 시각적으로 표현했던 방법을 발전시켜왔으며, 웹 기술의 발전을 토대로 직접 소리를 들려주기까지 한다. 직접 들리는 소리는 당연히 사운드 분석의 대상이 된다. 그러나 들리지 않는 사운드도 분석 대상이 될 수 있다. 본 연구는 들리지 않는 소리를 분석할 수 있다는 것의 이론적 토대를 인지심리학의 이중부호 개념에 둔다. 작가는 자신의 청각적 기억을 시각적으로 기호화할 수 있고, 독자는 기억과 인출의 과정을 통해 시각화된 기호를 보고 사운드를 떠올릴 수 있다. 이와 같은 웹툰의 들리지는 않지만 떠올릴 수 있는 사운드와 직접 들리는 사운드 두 경우를 본 연구는 함께 분석대상으로 한다. 구체적 분석을 위해서는 이론적 성과물이 있는 영화 사운드 분석 방법을 활용할 수 있다. 소리를 구성하는 세 요소인 음량, 음조, 음색은 음향학에서는 주파수 등으로 설명되고 직접 들을 때는 느낌으로 알지만, 시각적으로는 사운드를 표현한 글자나 이미지의 선의 굵기와 위치, 음원의 이미지 등으로 알 수 있다. 내화면 사운드와 외화면 사운드의 시각적 표현은 만화의 칸과 관련이 있다. 일반적으로는 칸 외부로 외화면 사운드를 표현하지만 웹툰에서는 듣는 자를 강조하는 방법으로 칸 내부에 외화면 소리를 표현하기도 한다. 그리고 영화의 호러 장르가 장르 효과를 높이기 위해 사운드를 많이 사용하는데 웹툰에서도 호러 장르가 같은 효과를 위해 사운드를 많이 사용한다. 이러한 영화 사운드 분석 방법을 활용해 사운드를 이미지로 표현한 작품들을 분석해볼 때, 초창기 출판만화에서부터 시작한 사운드의 청각적 표현들이 계속 발전해서 웹툰에서 창의적으로 표현되고 있음을 알 수 있다. 특히 세로 이동을 활용한 칸의 배치 및 소리표현의 방식들은 웹툰이 보여준 새로운 방법들이며, 칸 모양도 훨씬 다양해졌다. 직접 들려주는 소리로는 BGM이 가장 먼저 사용되었는데 최근에는 한 회의 분위기에 맞춰 음향효과까지 섞어 맞춤 작곡된 곡들이 사용된다. 그리고 스크롤 이동에 맞춰 소리를 들려주는 프로그램이 개발되면서 특정 순간의 음향효과나 특정 장면에 어울리는 음악들을 들을 수 있게 되었다. 특히 호러 장르에서는 특정한 이미지와 공포를 불러일으키는 사운드를 같이 사용하여 장르적 효과를 배가시킨다. 이렇게 웹툰에서는 다양한 사운드 시각화 방법이 계속 창조되고 있으며 기술과 접목된 새로운 시도들이 이루어지고 있다. 이러한 발전은 웹툰이 하나의 문화콘텐츠로서의 융합의 장이 될 수 있음을 보여준다.

사운드에너지 기반 화강편마암의 비파괴 압축강도 산정 (Assessment of Compressive Strength of Granitic Gneiss Using Nondestructive Testing based on Sound Energy)

  • 본 연구는 암석표면 타격 시 발생하는 사운드압력에 대한 응답신호를 모두 측정하고 이를 누적한 전체 사운드 신호에너지를 이용하여 화강편마암의 압축강도를 비파괴적으로 산정하는 방법과 그 결과를 제시하는 것이다. 이를 위해서 다수의 화강편마암 암석시편을 준비하였고 각 시편에 대하여 고안된 타격장치(회전 자유낙하에 의한 초기타격 및 반발작용에 의한 연속적인 반복타격 가능 장치)를 이용하여 타격하고 타격 시 발생한 모든 사운드압력을 시간에 따른 신호로서 측정하였다. 암석시편별 측정된 사운드 신호를 모두 누적하고 그 값(전체 사운드 신호에너지라 명명함)을 암석시편별 직접 측정된 압축강도와 상호 비교하였다. 비교결과, 화강편마암의 각 시편에 대해서 타격을 통해 얻어진 전체 사운드 신호에너지는 해당 시편의 직접압축강도와 직접적인 비례관계가 있다는 것을 확인하였으며, 또한 전체 사운드 신호에너지를 이용한 강도예측식을 이용하여 화강편마암의 압축강도를 90% 이상 신뢰성 있게 예측할 수 있음을 파악하였다. 더 나아가 본 연구결과를 통해 향후 다양한 암석 및 콘크리트 등의 압축강도는 전체 사운드 신호에너지를 이용하여 비파괴적으로 예측할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

구개상의 두께에 따른 한국어 자음의 발음 변화에 관한 컴퓨터 분석 - 치조음, 경구개음- (A COMPUTER ANALYSIS ON THE KOREAN CONSONANT SOUND DISTORTION IN RELATION TO THE PALATAL PLATE THICKNESS -Dentoalveolar and hard palatal consonant-)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the sound distortion following the alternation of the palatal plate thickness. For this study, 2 healthy male subjects (24-year-old) were selected. Born in Seoul, they both spoke Seoul dialect. First, their sounds of /na(나)/, /da(다)/, /1a(라)/, /ja(자)/, /cha(차)/, /ta(타)/, without inserting plates were recorded, and then the sounds with palatal plates of different thickness were recorded, successively. The plate was fabricated in 3 types, each palatal thickness being 1.0mm, 2.5mm, dentoalveolar portion 2.5mm, other residual portion was 1.0mm, successively. Each type plates named B, C, D-type, in succession. Series of analysis were administered through Computer(16 bit) to analyze the sound distortions. These experiments were analyzed by the LPC (without weighting, pre-weighting, post-weighting) of the consonants, vowels portion, formant frequency of the vowels and word duration of the consonants. The findings led to the following conclusions: 1. There was no correlation of the distortion rate on the 2 informants. 2. Generally, vowels were not affected by the palatal plate thickness in the formant analysis, however, more distortion was detected in the LPC analysis, especially C, D-type plates. 3. Consonants distortion was more evident in the C, D-type plate. 4. The second formant was most disturbed and reduced in the all consonants with insertion of the palatal plate, especially C, D-type plate. 5. Word duration was shortened in the plate inserted(except /ja/, /cha/), especially C, D-type. 6. It was found that dentoalveolar, hard palatal sounds were severely distorted in plate inserted, and they were mainly affected by the dentoalveolar portion thickness. 7. There was correlation between palatal thickness and consonants quality.

  • This study was done to analyze the sound distortion, before and after insertion of the palatal palates. For this study, 4 healthy subjects (3 males and 1 female, each 24-year-old), who were born in Seoul were recruited from K university, and 3 type palatal plates were fabricated, each palatal thickness being 1.0mm, 2.5mm, dentoalveolar portion 2.5mm and elsewhere 1.0mm, named B,C,D-type repectively, and informants's sounds of /사(sa), 서(se), 소(so), 수(su), 스($s\.{+}$), 시(si)/ were recorded, without plate, and with palatal plates of different types, in succession. A series of analysis were adminstered through a 16 Bit IBM PC/AT using linear combination methods. These experiments were analyzed by the Cepstrum (Weighted and Euclidian), Log Area Ratio, Linear prediction correlation methods The findings led to the following conclusions : 1. It was confirmed that the same consonant, /ㅅ(s)/, variously distorted by the following vowel. 2. By and large, 시($s\.{+}$) was the most distorted in all conditions, and (sa), 소(so) were the least distorted in each condition. 3. There were no persistant correlation of the palatal plate types, and sound distortions of each informant were diverse with no regularities. 4. There were persistent correaltion to the Cepstrum (Weighted, Euclidian), Log Area Ratio. However, Linear prediction correlation has a different alteration pattern.

철도교통소음의 특성에 관한연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Railroad Traffic Noise)

  • This study has been conducted to achieve the following objectives: First, in order to understand the horizontal propagation and attenuation characteristics for the railroad traffic noise, we selected areas within 100 meters away from the railroad and then selected Saemaul-ho and Mugoongwha-ho as the subjects for our experiment. In this way, we analyzed the horizontal propagation and attenuation characteristics for the traffic noise occurring in diversified areas. Second, in order to understand the vertical propagation and attenuation characteristics for the railroad traffic noise, we measured and analyzed the distributional characteristics of vertical sound pressure levels on each floor of multi-storied apartment buildings according to changes of traffic load and types, and the existence or nonexistence of soundproof walls. For the case of the railroad traffic noise, we also selected Samaul-ho and Mugoongwha-ho as the subjects for our experiment, and we measured and analyzed the different noise levels on each floor of multi-storied apartment buildings from the soundproof wall. The results of Horizontal propagation and attenuation characteristics for the railroad traffic noise are as follows: In cases of the flat land, cutting land, and bridge area, as distance increases, the sound pressure level steadily decreases. The sound pressure level for the bridge area is higher than that of the flat land with a measurement of $5.5{\sim}10.2\;dB(A)$. Vertical propagation and attenuation characteristics for the railroad traffic noise are as follows: The amount of sound pressure level decrease is $14.2{\sim}14.8\;dB(A)$ for Samaul-ho and $13.5{\sim}14.3\;dB(A)$ for Mugoongwha-ho when measuring the vertical sound pressure levels at heights lower than 4.5 m, which indicates a fairly large decrease. At 6 m, the amount of decrease is 8.6 dB(A) for Samaul-ho and 8.2 dB(A) for Mugoongwha-ho, which indicates a small decrease.
