3년간 추적연구에 의한 지역사회 치면열구전색사업의 누적치아우식발생률에 관한 연구 (Study of the cumulative dental caries rate of pit and fissure sealant in community public health program: 3 years follow-up)

  • Objectives: The purpose of the study was to investigate the cumulative dental caries rate of pit and fissure sealant in community public health program from 2005 to 2008 follow-up. Methods: The subjects were 4,768 students of 34 elementary schools in Gimcheon. The survey included direct oral examination and cumulative retention rate of pit and fissure sealant from 2005 to 2008. Data were analyzed using PASW statistical package version 18.0 and the level of significance was set at p<0.05. Results: The cumulative retention rate of sealant was 18%, 25%, and 33% after 1 year, 2 years, and 3 years, respectively. In addition, the cumulative retention rate of lower teeth was higher than that of upper teeth. Cumulative dental caries rate increased in sealed group and no sealed group. The cumulative dental caries rate decreased owing to tooth brushing frequency in sealed group and no sealed group. Conclusions: Regular and timely tooth brushing can maintain good oral health condition after tooth sealing. The school based oral health education can prevent loss of sealant and secondary caries.

  • Identification of gravitational wave (GW) sources in electromagnetic (EM) wave observations is important because it enables us to understand the property of the GW-emitting sources/mechanisms much better than the GW detection. For that reason, a large number of astronomers are working on observations to identify the position and the nature of GW sources. We give a short overview of the expected EM signals from GW sources and the current EM follow-up observations that have been undertaken in Korea and the world.

통합적 접근에 의한 소비자교육 프로그램이 유아의 소비자 행동에 미치는 영향 (Effects of a Consumer Education Program Based on an Integrated Approach for Teaching Consumer Behavior)

  • The subjects of this study of the effects of a consumer education program were 22 experimental and 21 control group children aged five in 2 classes of D day care center in J City. The 14 week consumer education program, based on Lee Ki Soak et al.(1998), was composed of sixteen activities covering five areas relating to curriculum themes, and three activities designed to be employed continuously regardless of the curriculum themes. Pre-, post-, and follow-up surveys were conducted using the consumer behavior questionnaire for mothers. Results showed immediate overall positive effects, including improvement in resource management behavior among sub-areas of consumer behavior. Continued effects of the program were validated by the follow-up survey conducted 4 month after the training program ended.

  • 국제 학업 성취도인 PISA2007, TIMSS 2011에 의하면 우리나라 학생들의 수학, 과학 학업성취도는 최상위에 해당하지만, 관련 태도가 낮다는 결과가 나왔다. 또, 사회에 만연한 이공계 기피현상, 초중고에서 점점 사라지고 있는 정보과학 교육의 현실을 반영하는 학습 경험을 제공해야 할 필요성이 제기되었다. 이러한 필요성에 의해 본 연구자는 2012년에 Physical Computing 기반의 STEAM 프로그램을 개발하고 그 효과를 연구하였다. 그 결과 과학적 문제해결력, 과학적 태도, 인성 등에서 향상되는 결과를 얻었다. 본 연구에서는 2012년 연구의 후속연구이다. STEAM 프로그램을 적용하여 향상을 가져 온 4학년 학생들이 1년 후에 STEAM 교육을 받지 않았을 때 학생들에게 어떤 변화가 생겼는가를 연구하였다. 분석 방법은 4학년 초, STEAM 교육을 받은 4학년말, STEAM 교육을 받지 않은 5학년말의 검사 결과를 비교하였다. 그 결과 과학적 탐구에 대한 태도를 제외한 모든 영역에서 STEAM 교육을 받지 않은 5학년말은 4학년 초에 비해 향상이 없는 결과를 얻었다. 이것은 STEAM 교육의 필요성에 대한 역설적인 증거라고 할 수 있다.

스마트폰을 이용한 식이섭취 모니터링이 비만여성의 체중변화에 미치는 효과 분석 (Effect of Food Consumption Monitoring Using a Smartphone on Weight Changes in Obese Women)

  • This study investigated the effect of food consumption monitoring and real-time communication-based weight control program using a smartphone on weight reduction and maintenance in obese women. This study consisted of two phases: an 8-week weight control program with food consumption monitoring and real-time communication using a smartphone and an 8-week follow-up. Sixteen obese female college students (>30% body fat) participated in this program, and we measured changes in body composition and dietary intake volume. Follow-up analysis focused on weight maintenance after 8 weeks of no contact. Total energy intake (P<0.01), body weight (P<0.001), percent body fat (P<0.001), body fat (P<0.05), and body mass index (P <0.001) decreased significantly after the 8-week weight control program. However, we could not observe total energy intake or body composition regain after the follow-up period. These results suggest that food consumption monitoring and real-time communication using a smartphone can be effective for weight control and maintenance.

예비부부를 위한 "결혼준비교육프로그램"의 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Development of "Premarital Education Programs" for Marriage Expectant Couple)

  • This study proposes to implement premarital education programs designed to enhance potential capacity in marital life, targeted at marriage expectant couple and verify the effectiveness of the programs. For this study, 8 marriage expectant couples residing in Seoul participated. For this study, advance and follow-up surveys were conducted. To be specific, the advanced surveys questions were posed regarding general features, the level of communication, conflict-resolution skills and the attitude toward the role of the gender and so forth of those persons polled. In follow-up surveys, questions were asked regarding the extent to which the participant was satisfied with the contents of the education and teaching process in each session of the programs, the attitude toward the role of the gender, the level of communication and conflict-resolution skills. The effectiveness of the program was verified based on the subjective level of satisfaction of the instructor and the program manager and the statistical analyses of advance and follow-up surveys. Our findings show: First, the changes in 'the attitude toward the role of the gender' of the participants after 'the education of the role of the gender' were not significantly related. Second, after 'the education of communication' was implemented, the capability of the participants to communicate proved to have improved. Third, the extent to which the participants were satisfied with the contents of the education scored higher than the average, the level of educational satisfaction with 'the skills of communication between the husband and wife' scoring the highest. Fourth, with respect to the level of overall satisfaction with the educational effects of the program, the level of satisfaction with improved relationship between each party of the couple turned out relatively high, and the level of the overall education program also proved to be high.

Study of Transients at BOAO

  • As a new way to explore the universe, astronomers are now performing time-domain astronomy by surveying the universe looking for new transient phenomena and taking movies of the universe with telescopes. Large-area, time-series survey of astronomical objects are uncovering many interesting, fast-changing objects that have now been poorly understood before, such as GRBs, tidal disruption phenomena, and new types of supernova. In order to characterize these new, exciting events, it is very critical to perform follow-up observations, and 1-2m telescopes can effectively contribute to such efforts. Since 2007, our group has been performing follow-up observations of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) and interesting transients using BOAO and other KASI facilities. Here, we present results from several key transient studies that were done by using BOAO: (1) tidal disruption event Swift J1644+57; (2) SN 2011fe that occurred in M101; and (3) several GRB events. These study demonstrates the usefulness of BOAO as a powerful transient follow-up facility. Finally, we will discuss how BOAO research activities can possibly be bolstered in this newly emerging field of astronomy.

집단정신치료극이 아동의 우울에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Group-Psychotherapy Oriented Psychodrama on Child's Depression)

  • This study was executed to examine the effect of group-psychotheray oriented psychodrama on child's depression. For this study self-reporting Kovacs's children's depression inventory(C.D.I) was administered for primary school children. and 8 children were selected in experimental and control group each. The experimental group acted the psychodrama for 15 session. The first follow-up test was executed at 8 weeks after pre-test and second follow-up test at 10 weeks after first follow- up. Every time children acted the psychodrama all behaviors had been recorded. Also in order to find out any changes in daily life after the psychodrama their parents class teachers and children themselves were interviewed. Basal depression level was 23.38 for experimental group and 23.63 for control group. Depression level of experimental group was reduced to 12.38(p<0.01) There was significant difference in depression level between experimental and control group (p<0.01) Reducing effect of experi ental group by the psychodrama was maintained as well. As a result group psychotherapy oriented psychodrama was effective to reduce depression level of childern. Group psychotherapy oriented psychodrama program for children need to be developed for more effectiveness.

숲 환경이 인터넷 중독 치료에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of the Forest Environment on Internet Addition Treatment)

  • 본 연구는 숲이라는 자연환경이 인터넷 중독 청소년의 인터넷 중독과 자존감에 어떤 영향을 미치는지를 알아본 것이다. 본 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 동일한 집단상담 프로그램을 숲과 교실이라는 환경에서 각각 실시하여 그 차이를 비교하였다. S시의 중학생 24명을 실험집단, 비교집단, 통제집단 등으로 각각 8명씩 무선 할당하여 총 6회기의 프로그램을 실시하고 사후 및 추후에 집단 간에 차이가 있는지를 알아보았다. 종속변수는 인터넷 중독 점수와 자존감 점수로 하였다. 연구결과, 숲에서 프로그램을 실시한 실험집단이 통제집단에 비하여 사후 및 추후 시기에서 인터넷 중독점수에서 유의한 차이가 있었다. 시기별로 보면, 실험집단은 사전에 비하여 사후 및 추후에 인터넷 중독 점수에서 유의한 차이가 있었다. 비교집단은 통제집단에 비하여 사후 및 추후시기에 집단 간에 유의한 차이가 없었다. 숲 환경에서 실시한 프로그램은 비교집단과 통제집단에 비하여 사후 및 추후시기에 자존감의 점수에서 집단 간 유의한 차이를 보였으며 실험집단은 비교집단 및 통제집단에 비하여 자존감의 점수가 유의하게 상승되었다, 비교집단 또한 통제집단에 비하여 자존감이 유의하게 상승된 것으로 나타났다. 또한 실험집단은 사전에 비하여 사후 및 추후에 자존감 점수가 유의하게 상승된 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 숲이라는 자연환경이 인터넷 중독 청소년의 중독 증상을 감소시키고 자존감을 향상하는 등의 치료적 기제를 가지고 있음을 시사한다. 앞으로의 연구에서는 다양한 중독자에 대한 치료적 방법의 하나로서 숲 환경이 어떤 영향을 미치는 지를 검증해볼 필요가 있다. 끝으로 본 연구의 제한점과 시사점을 기술하였다.

Effects of Gerontological Nursing Practicum on Attitudes toward Elders with Dementia and General Elders among Korean Nursing Students

  • Purpose. This study investigated changes in attitudes toward elders in general and elders with dementia after students finished a gerontological nursing practicum. Methods. Questionnaires developed for Asian cultures were administered pre practicum, immediately post practicum, and at 8-months follow up to 31 senior students in a baccalaureate nursing program. The 1-week practicum occurred at two adult day care centers: a center for elders with dementia and a center for elders with stroke. Repeated measures ANOVA and Bonferroni correction procedures were used to analyze data. Results. Students' evaluation of elder vitality and flexibility increased significantly at post practicum, however this increase was not sustained at follow up. Score of generosity of elders, the only positively evaluated dimension for elders in general, improved partly at post practicum. Students evaluated flexibility and generosity of elders with dementia more negatively than general elders. All of the decreased attitudes at follow up were not significantly different from those at pre practicum. Conclusions. Students had more negative attitudes toward elders with dementia. Attitudes of students in direct contact with elders with dementia were improved through the practicum regarding generosity and flexibility. However the sustainability of the immediate effect was not observed at follow up.
