A sensorless control for an IPM (Interior Permanent Magnet) synchronous motor in a single piston rotary compressor is presented in this study. The rotor position is estimated from the d-axis and q-axis current errors between the real system and a motor model of the position estimator. The torque pulsation of the single piston rotary compressor is compensated to reduce speed ripples, as well as, mechanical noise and vibration. The proposed sensorless drive enables the compressor to operate at a lower speed which increases energy savings and reduces mechanical noise. It also gives high speed operations by a flux weakening control for rapid air-cooling and heating of the heat pump air-conditioners.
In order to explain the operating characteristics of LTMFP in a wide range of driving frequency, an analytical equation that takes into account the detailed behavior of the normal spot is necessary. In this paper, based on the phenomenon of magnetic diffusion of the superconductor we modified the theoretical equations for pumping action in LTMFP. The modified equations explained well the pumping actions under the different load magnets. These results are important to explain the pumping tendency of the LTMFP according to driving frequency.
The efficient performance of absorber is of great importance for the absorption heat pump cycle. The experimental study of absorber with spiral tube of tangential feeding of liquid phase has been investigated using methanol-glycerine as a working fluid. The effect of change in absorber operating conditions was analyzed to improve the performance. The increase in solution flow rate and cooling flow rate positively affects the absorber performance while an increse in the solution concentration negatively affects the absorber performance. The results showed that mass absorption flux was in the range of $0.2{\sim}0.6kgm^{-2}sec^{-1}$, the solution heat transfer coefficient between 1.6 and $4.2kwm^{-2}K^{-1}$, the absorber thermal load from 0.9 to 1.5kw and the mass transfer coefficient from 0.9 to 1.7 m/sec.

The heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop during gas cooling process of carbon dioxide in a horizontal tube were investigated. The experiments were conducted without oil in the refrigerant loop. The main components of the refrigerant loop are a receiver, a variable-speed pump, a mass flowmeter, an evaporator, and a gas cooler(test section). The main components of the water loop consist of a variable-speed pump, an isothermal tank, and a flowmeter. The gas cooler is a counterflow heat exchanger with refrigerant flowing in the inner tube and water flowing in the annulus. The test section consists of smooth, horizontal stainless steel tube of the outer diameter of 9.53mm and of the inner diameter of 7.75mm. The length of the test section is 6m. The refrigerant mass fluxes were 200∼300kg/(m2$.$s) and the inlet pressure of the gas cooler varied from 7.5㎫ to 8.5㎫. The main results were summarized as follows : Pressure drop of CO2 increases with increasing gas cooler pressure. The friction factors of CO2 in a horizontal tube show a relatively good agreement with the correlation by Blasius. The heat transfer coefficient of CO2 in transcritical region increases with decreasing gas cooler pressure and decreasing mass flux of CO2. Most of correlations proposed in a transcritical region showed significant deviations with experimental data except for those predicted by Gnielinski.

The cooling heat transfer coefficient and pressure drop of $CO_2$(R-744) in helical coil copper tubes were investigated experimentally The main components of the refrigerant loop are a receiver, a variable-speed pump, a mass flow meter. a pre-heater and a inclined helical coil type gas cooler (test section). The test section consists of a smooth copper tube of 2.45 and 4.55mm inner diameter The refrigerant mass fluxes were varied from 200 to $600 [kg/m^2s]$ and the inlet pressures of 9as cooler were 7.5 to 10.0 [MPa]. The heat transfer coefficients of $CO_2$ in helical coil tubes increase with the increase of mass flux and gas cooling pressure of $CO_2$. The pressure drop of $CO_2$ in the gas cooler shows a relatively food agreement with those Predicted by Ito's correlation developed for single-phase in helical coil tubes. Though a few correlation available with the data. the local heat transfer coefficient of $CO_2$ agrees well with those presented by Pitla et al. among the predictions. However at the region near pseudo-critical temperature. the experiment data indicate higher values than the Pitla et al. correlation.

The present study investigated the effects of the experimental parameters on the cooling characteristics of the multichip module cooled by the indirect liquid cooling method using water and paraffin slurry. The experimental parameters are mass fraction of 2.5 ~ 7.5% for paraffin slurry, heat flux of 10 ~ 40 W/cm$^{2}$ for the simulated VLSI chips and Reynolds numbers of 5,300 ~ 15,900. The apparatus consisted of test section, paraffin slurry maker, pump, constant temperature baths, flowmeter, etc. The test section made of in-line, four-row array of 12 heat sources for simulating 4 * 3 multichip module which was flush mounted on the top wall of a horizontal rectangular channel with the aspect ratio of 0.2. The inlet temperature was 20 deg. C for all experiments. The size of paraffin slurry was constant as 10 ~ 40 .mu.m befor and after the experiment. The chip surface temperatures for paraffin slurry with the mass fraction of 7.5% showed lower by 16 deg. C than those for water when the heat flux is 40 W/cm$^{2}$. The local heat transfer coefficients for the paraffin slurry with the mass fraction of 7.5% were larger by 17 ~ 25% than those for water at the first and the fourth row. The local heat transfer coefficients reached to a row-number-independent, thermally fully developed value approximately after the third row. The local Nusselt numbers at the fourth row for paraffin slurry with the mass fraction of 7.5% were larger by 23 ~ 29% than those for water.
The plate heat exchanger(PHE) in heat pump has two flow streams of the refrigerant and water. The flow direction of the refrigerant, unlike that of water, can be changed by a 4-way valve depending on operating condition. Therefore the flow arrangement is a parallel flow for heating and a counter flow for cooling, respectively. In this study, the effects of the flow direction of the water on the heat transfer rate are investigated experimentally. The experiments are carried out for brazed plate heat exchangers under a parallel and counter flow conditions in evaporation and condensation. The experimental parameters in this study include the mass flux of the refrigerant 410A from 3 to $14\;kg/m^2s$ and the flow patterns for the pressure of PHE fixed at 0.97 and 2.46 MPa. The results show that both the heat transfer rate and frictional pressure drop across the PHE increase with the mass flux. The heat transfer rate of the refrigerant 410A for evaporation show great sensitivity to flow direction of the water. The heat transfer rate for evaporation with a counter flow are 5-30% higher than that with a parallel flow.
The condensation heat transfer coefficients of R-22 and R-410A in a small diameter tube were investigated. The main components of the refrigerant loop consist of a receiver, a variable-speed pump, a mass flowmeter, an evaporator (preheater), and a condenser (test section). The test section consists of smooth, horizontal copper tube of 3.38 mm outer diameter and 1.77 mm inner diameter. The refrigerant mass fluxes varied from 450 to $1050\;kg/(m^2s)$ and the average inlet and outlet qualities were 0.05 and 0.95. The main results were summarized as follows : the condensation heat transfer coefficient also increases with increasing mass flux and quality. The condensation heat transfer coefficient of R-410A was slightly higher than that of R-22. Most of correlations proposed in the large diameter tube showed significant deviations with experimental data except for the ranges of low quality and low mass flux.
The heat transfer and pressure drop of supercritical $CO_2$ cooled in a helically coiled tube was investigated experimentally. The experiments were conducted without oil in the refrigerant loop. The experimental apparatus of the refrigerant loop consist of receiver, a variable speed pump, a mass flowmeter, a pre-heater, a gas cooler(test section) and an isothermal tank. The test section is a helically coiled tube in tube counter flow heat exchanger with $CO_2$ flowed inside the inner tube and coolant( water) flowed along the outside annular passage, It was made of it copper tube with the inner diameter of 4.55[mm]. the outer diameter of 6.35 [mm] and length of 10000 [mm]. The refrigerant mass fluxes were $200^{\sim}600$ [kg/m2s] and the inlet pressure of gas cooler varied from 7.5 [MPa] to 10.0 [MPa]. The main results are summarized as follows : The heat transfer coefficient of supercritical $CO_2$ increases, as the cooling pressure of gas cooler decreases. And the heat transfer coefficient increases with the increase of the refrigerant mass flux. The pressure drop decreases in increase of the gas cooler pressure and increases with increase the refrigerant mass flux.
A 3% NaCl solution of 1 $dm^3$ circulated with 1.5 $dm^3/min$ by a pump for 24 h in the presence of magnetic field. An iron plate immersed in a $100cm^3$ of test solution for 24 h. The rest potential and pH on surface fixed after 3 h. Containing 0~120 ppm of Fe(II) ion, the dissolution in the magnetically treated solution rose comparing with that in the non-magnetically treated solution. The dissolution amount reached to maximum at 50 ppm, then fixed in the non-magnetically treated solution. When Fe(II) ion existed in the magnetically treated solution, dissolution accelerated a little. In the non-magnetic treated solution containing 10~125 ppm of Fe(III) ion existed, the dissolution accelerated. The dissolution amounts reached to maximum at 50 ppm, then decreased from maximum value. In the magnetically treated solution, the dissolution amounts reached to minimum until 50 ppm, then increased from minimum value. The dissolution amounts affected larger with increasing of magnetic flux density. Fe(II), Fe(III) ions and magnetic treatment affected to formation of $Fe(OH)_2$ and/or $Fe_3O_4$ films. The magnetically treated effects memorized about one month.
