FCAW 수평 필릿용접용 용접선추적을 위한 아크센싱 알고리즘 개발 (Development of an Effective Arc Sensing Algorithm for Seam-Tracking in Flux-Cored Arc Welding Process for Horizontal Fillet Joints)

  • This paper describes a newly developed arc-sensing algorithm of seam-tracking for FCA W (flux-cored arc welding) horizontal fillet welding. In this algorithm, arc current and the Weighted-Are-Current (WAC) are used to adjust the position of a weld torch in directions of bead throat and weaving, respectively. The WAC, which is newly devised in this study, means that arc current in the vicinity of weaving end is more emphasized than that in the center of weaving. The reason of this is because there usually exists much noise in the center of weaving due to abrupt change of arc length in case some empty gaps exist in a fillet joint Variance analysis was performed in order to check the effect of weld parameters on arc current and the WAC. As a result, the relationships between tip-to-workpiece distance and arc current, and between weaving offset and the WAC were established.To check "the validity of the algorithm, seam-tracking experiments were performed ;mder various welding condition. The result of experiments showed a satisfactory tracking performance in the presence of empty gaps in a horizontal fillet joint.et joint.

Variability of Fatigue Crack Initiation Life in Flux Cored Arc Welded API 2W Gr.50 Steel Joints

  • Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) is a common practice to join thick plates such as the structural members of large scale offshore structures and very large container ships. The objective of this study was to investigate the mechanical properties and variability of the fatigue crack initiation life in the flux cored arc welded API 2W Gr.50 steel joints typically applied to offshore structures with a focus on the effect of the materials in fatigue crack growth life from the notch root of a compact tension specimen. Offshore structural steel (API 2W Gr.50) plates (60-mm thick) were used to fabricate multi-path flux core arc welded butt welded joints to clearly consider fatigue fractures at the weld zone from the notch. Fatigue tests were performed under a constant amplitude cyclic loading of R = 0.4. The mean fatigue crack initiation life of the HAZ specimen was the highest among the base metal (BM), weld metal (WM), and heat affected zone (HAZ). In addition, the coefficient of variation was the highest in the WMl specimen. The variability of the short fatigue crack growth rates from the notch tips in the WM and HAZ specimens was higher than in BM.

  • Inconel 625 is useful in variety of industrial applications because of the resistance to attack on various corrosive media at temperature from $200^{\circ}C$ to over $1090^{\circ}C$, in combination with good low and high temperature mechanical strength. Recently, this material is also used widely in offshore processing piping in order to extend the maintenance term and improvement the quality of anti-corrosion. In general, high quality weldments for this material are readily produced by commonly used processes. Not all processes are applicable to this material group, Ni-alloys. Metallurgical characteristics or the unavailability of matching, position or suitable welding process. Nowadays, the flux cored wire is developed and applied for the better productivity in several welding position including the vertical position. In this study, the weldability and weldment characteristics(mechanical properties) of inconel 625 are considered in FCAW(Flux Cored Arc Welding) associated with the severial shielding gases($80%Ar+20%CO_2,\;50%Ar+50%CO_2,\;100%CO_2$) in viewpoint of welding productivity.

FCAW 이종접합에서 용접자세에 따른 기계적 시험 특성 평가 (Evaluation of Mechanical Test Characteristics according to Welding Position in FCAW Heterojunction)

  • 조선소, 교량 구조물, 건설기계, 플랜트 산업 등 다양한 분야에서 폭 넓게 활용되고 있는 이산화탄소 아크용접(FCAW: Flux Cored Arc Welding)은 피복 아크 용접(SMAW: Shielded Metal Arc Welding)의 단점을 보완하기 위한 대안으로 1950년대 초 개발되었다. FCAW는 모든 자세에서 용접이 가능하고 작업여건 변수가 많은 현장에서 우수한 품질을 얻을 수 있는 장점이 있어 탄소강과 합금강의 중판, 후판 용접에 많이 사용되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 FCAW를 이용하여 SS400(일반구조용 압연강재)와 SM490A(용접구조용 압연강재)를 이종용접한 후 용접부의 기계적 특성(인장시험, 굽힘시험, 경도시험, 충격시험, 매크로시험)을 분석하고 다음과 같은 결론을 도출하였다. 인장시험 결과, 모든 용접자세에서 KS 규격 인장강도 범위($400{\sim}510N/mm^2$)를 만족하였다. 굽힘시험 결과, 대부분의 시편에서 굽힘시 표면의 터짐 현상이나 기타 결점이 나타나지 않았고, 소성변형 후에도 충분한 인성을 발휘하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 경도시험 결과, 모든 결과 값이 KS B 0893의 규격치 350Hv보다 낮게 나타나 양호한 것으로 판단된다. 충격시험 결과, 모든 결과가 KS 기준 수치인 27J 보다 큰 것으로 나타났다. 매크로시험 결과 용접부의 형상별로 균일한 조직 상태를 나타냈으며, 용접부 전단면에 걸쳐 내부 결함, 기포 또는 불순물 등이 발견되지 않아 라미네이션의 우려가 없는 것으로 나타났다.

오버레이용접된 Wrapping Roll의 비드마크제거를 위한 열영향부의 미세조직에 관한 연구 (The Study on Microstructure of the Heat Affected Zone for Removing of Beadmark in the Overlayered Wrapping Roll)

  • In case of overalyered wrapping roll, beadmark shape appear at wrapping roll surface due to irregular wear between weld bead. Irregular wear of this is caused by difference of hardness between weld bead. This study aims at investigating which matrix is good for removing of beadmark at wrapping roll surface. So, we make specimen with martensitic matrix and austenitic matrix. The overlayered alloys were deposited 4 times on a SS41 steel plate using self-shielding flux cored arc welding method. Difference of hardness between weld bead of specimen with matrix of martensite was higher than specimen with matrix of austenite both as-welded and after heat treatment. Therefore, austenitic matrix is between than martensitic matrix for removing of beadmark of wrapping roll surface.

V-groove 박판의 FCAW와 EGW 공정에 따른 변형에 미치는 공정인자 영향 (Process Parameter Effect on Deformation of a V-groove Thin Plate for FCAW and EGW)

  • Finite element analysis and welding experiments were performed to evaluate deformation aspect for Flux Cored Arc Welding(FCAW) and Electro Gas Welding(EGW). Numerical researches of FCAW and EGW were performed considering the difference of number of welding pass and welding direction to arc flow. To perform the numerical study of FCAW and EGW, number of welding pass and welding direction to arc flow were considered in the finite element model. FCAW process requires multi pass and its welding direction is vertical to welding torch. On the other hand, EGW process requires single pass and its welding direction is parallel to welding torch. The difference of welding direction and heat input was considered in the finite element analysis. In FCAW process, Goldak's double ellipsoidal heat input model was adopted. In the EGW process, Hemi-spherical power density distribution was adopted. In the results of experiment and finite element analysis, angular deformation of FCAW process is larger than that of EGW process.

교량용 강재 박스의 현장 제조시 셀프실드 플럭스코어드 아크용접의 적용 타당성에 대한 연구 (A Feasibility Study on the Application of Self-Shielded Flux Cored Arc Welding Process for the On-Site Steel Bridge Box Fabrication)

  • 본 연구에서는 구조용강 SM520을 사용하여 교량용 박스 제작시 플럭스 코어드 아크용접법에서 가스실드방식과 셀프실드방식의 두 공정으로 제작된 용접부를 건전성, 기계적 성질 및 미세조직에서 비교하였다. 그 결과 두 용접 프로세스에 의해 제작된 용접부들은 매크로 조직 및 비파괴 검사 결과 건전성이 입증되었고, 항복 및 인장강도가 각각 $462{\sim}549\;MPa$$548{\sim}640\;MPa$였고, CVN 충격치는 $-20^{\circ}C$에서 요구값인 40J을 충족하였다. 결과적으로, 고속철도나 고속도로 건설시 사용되는 교량용 SM520강 박스 제조시 고소 및 강풍 조건하에서 용접할 때 셀프실드 아크용접법은 기존의 가스실드 아크 용접법과 비교하여 대등한 용접 특성들을 보였기 때문에 현장 시공시 적용 타당성이 있다고 사료된다.

  • Performance demonstration with real flawed specimens has been strongly required for nondestructive evaluation of safety class components in nuclear power plant. Specimen has been designed to produce mechanical fatigue flaw with tension stress and fatigue flaw has been produced to control stress and cycle, for suitable roughness. Notch condition is considered for control of fracture mode. After seal welding for fracture surface, final welding was performed to complete flaw specimen with GTAW(Gas Tungsten Arc welding) and FCAW(Flux Cored Arc Welding). It was demonstrated flaw size of flawed specimen by radiographic. testing and ultrasonic testing.
