  • Recently, main nozzle and inner nozzle for EHV class gas circuit breakers were made by PTFE(Poly Tetra Fluoro Ethylen) for the basic material composite. But, nowadays strengthened PTFE was demanded because the supply of electric power increased. This paper shows the research results for nozzles according to the filler materials.

  • Since the discovery of the fact that compounds bearing a vinylic fluoride moiety often exhibit remarkable biological activities such as enzyme inhibitors, many synthetic methods for fluorine-substituted vinylic compounds have been developed. The synthesis of selectively fluorinated building blocks, such as arylsubstituted fluoro-alkenes, also has become an area of interest in recent years. Herein we describe a novel and practical method for the synthesis of 1,1-difluoro- and 1-fluoroalkenes starting from easily accessible trifluoroacetophenone derivatives. Various 1,1-difluoro- and 1-fluoroalkenes were prepared by the reaction of the corresponding tosyl hydrazones that were derived from trifluoroacetophenone derivatives by treating with alkyl or aryllithium reagents via addition-elimination and single electron transfer (SET) mechanism.

  • A series of 2',3'-dideoxy-3'-fluoro-D-apiosyl nucleosides 15, 16, 17 and 18 were synthesized enantiomerically with L-Gulonic- ${\gamma}$-lactone as the starting material. The reduction of butenolide 1 with DIBAL-H followed by the Luche procedure afforded the allylic alcohol 2. Ozonolysis and the reduction of compound 4 induced the cyclized lactol, which was acetylated to give the acetate 7. Condensation of the acetate 7 with silylated pyrimidine ($N^4$-benzoyl cytosine) and a purine base (6-chloropurine) under Vorbruggen conditions and deblocking afforded a series of fluorinated apiosyl nucleosides.

  • The in vitro and in vivo antibacterial activities of DWQ-217 (1-cyclopropyl-6-fluoro-8-chloro-7-(3-amino-4-methylthiomethylpyrrolidinyl )-1,4-dihydro-4-oxo-quinoline-3-carboxylic acid) were compared with those of ciprofloxacin (CPFX) and vancomycin(VCM). DWQ-217 was superior to those of CPFX and VCM against gram positive bacteria. DWQ-217 showed excellent activity against MRSA (MIC of methicillin; $\geq$12.5 $\mu\textrm{g}$/ml), MIC$_{90}$=0.013. DWQ-217 possessed strong bactericidal action against gram positive and gram negative strains by MIC/MBC test and killing curve. DWQ-217 and CPFX were administered orally and subcutaneously to mice infected systematically with S. aureus and S. pyogenes, DWQ-217 was $\geq$5-16 fold(p.o.) and $\geq$3-5 fold(s.c.) more active than CPFX.

  • Four kids of powder admixtures(A, B, C, D) based on anhydrite were manufactured by mixing at a fixed rate of II-anhydrite, fly ash and active silica as an industrial by-product. Fluidity properties of cement paste such as mini-slump, apparent viscosity with elapsed time, as well as setting time of cement pastes of these admixtures substituted up to 11wt% of cement were compared to those of cement paste(SS) substisuted by marketed high-strength powder admixture(S). Among these powder admixtures, the fluidity of cement pastes(PA, PC) substituted by A and C powder admixtures manufactured from II-anhydrite and fly ash had an excellent property than that of cement paste substituted by marketed powder admixture and also a good fluidity-retention effect with elapsed time by adding of superplasticizer. The setting time of cement paste substituted by powder admixtures based on anhydrite slightly retarded than that of cement paste substituted by marketed powder admixture.

  • Electrical properties of ZrF4-based heavy metla fluoride glasses were measured by the ac complex impedance method. The effects of alkali and chloride ions addition into fluoro zirconate glasses on the electrical conductivity were examined. The electrical conductivities of fluoride glasses show Arrhenian behavior in the temperature range of the experiment and were decreased by the addition of sodium fluoride up to 15mol%. Mixed alkali substitution resulted in conductivity minimum at intermediate composition which is commonly observed as mixed alkali effect' in alkali oxide glasses. Chloride ion substituted for fluoride ion was found to lower the conductivity.

Anti-Allergic Effect of Ulmus davidiana Cortex on Contact Dermatitis Induced by Dinitrofluoro-Benzene in Mice

  • Objective: The root bark of Ulmus davidiana var. Japonica (Ulmi Radicis cortex, URC) is a medicinal herb used for promoting diuresis and treating dampness. In Korea, URC has long been used as an efficacious therapy for inflammation, burns, frostbite and skin diseases such as eczema and psoriasis. Methods: In the present study, we used 1-fluoro-2,4-dinitrofluorobenzene (DNFB)-induced contact dermatitis (CD) mouse model to investigate the anti-allergic and the anti-inflammatory effects of URC on skin lesion, histopathological changes and specific antibody production. Results: URC treatment, 10 mg/mL, effectively inhibited skin lesions induced by repeated paintings with DNFB. In the histopathological observation, topical application of URC inhibited spongiosis. In addition, URC lowered the production levels of total immunoglobulin and IgG2a in serum. Conclusion: These data indicate that URC has an anti-inflammatory effect that produces an improvement of skin lesions in CD mice.

  • 고분자이면서 유전체인 Poly-Tetra-Fluoro-Ethylene (PTFE) 튜브에 AC형 고전압을 인가하여 유전체 장벽 방전 (dielectric barrier discharge, DBD)를 유도하고, 발생된 마이크로 플라즈마에 의한 PTFE 튜브 내벽의 표면 개질에 관한 연구이다. 가스인입과 진공배기가 가능한 장치에 PTFE 튜브를 연결하고, 튜브내부를 진공상태를 유지하면서 반응가스를 이용하여 튜브 내벽을 표면개질 하였다. 반응가스를 아르곤, 수소, 아세틸렌, 산소, 질소를 반응 단계에 맞게 혼입하여 마이크로 플라즈마를 발생시켜 플라즈마에 의한 표면변화를 관찰하였다. 표면은 반응성 가스 플라즈마에 의해 물리 화학적 반응이 일어나 고분자 표면의 반응성 활성화를 통한 표면개질의 방식으로 진행되었다. 표면 개질된 튜브 내벽 표면에 대해 XPS, FT-IR, SEM, 접촉각 측정과 분석 실시함으로써 표면변화를 관찰하였다.

  • New type of 5-fluorobenzimidazole derivatives was synthesized through the reaction of 4-fluoro-5-(2,6-dimethylmorpholinyl)-2-aminoaniline with 5-nitro-2-furoic acid and 5-methoxy-3-chlorobenzothiophene-2-carboxylic acid in presence of PPA and treatment of $OH^-$. the resulting substituted 5-fluorobenzimidazole derivatives(6), (7) was characterized by high solubility in common polar organic solvents. We considered 5-fluorobenzimidazole derivatives were useful especially for antifungal drugs. These results are discussed from the viewpoints of the chemical and physical structures of the 5-fluorobenzimidazole derivatives.
