  • In this paper, we consider with a market pioneering game among symmetric firms in highly competitive situation. To describe the puzzling situation of timing competition, we construct a dynamic game model and explore the equilibrium solution. As a result, we find a subgame perfect mixed strategy Nash equilibrium conceptually defined by 't$_{0}$ + .elsilon. equilibrium'. Our major finding s include : i) market entry will be occurred in sequential manner even though the condition of each firm is symmetric ii) the optimal timing of market pioneering will be advanced until almost all of the monopolist's profit is dissipated, iii) as the market position of the pioneer is stronger, the timings of the pioneer and the follower are separated, iv) and as the slope of the profit flow is steeper, the entry timing of the two players will be pooled together.

  • In the annular Modified Chemical Vapor Deposition process using two concentric tubes, the inner tube is heated to maintain high temperature gradients to have high thermophoretic force which can increase particle deposition efficiency. However, higher axial velocity in a narrow gap between inner and outer tubes can result in a longer tapered entry length. In the present paper, a new concept using an annular jet from the inner tube is presented and shown to significantly reduce the tapered entry length with maintaining high efficiency. Effects of a jet injection on heat transfer, fluid flow and particle deposition have been studied. Of particular interests are the effects of jet velocity, jet location and temperature on the deposition efficiency and tapered length . Torch heating effects from both the previous and present passes are included and the effect of surface radiation between inner and outer tubes is also considered.

  • Spiral tube heat exchangers can find numerous applications in many engineering fields. Flow in spiral tubes is interest to engineers due to occurrence of secondary flow which enhances the cross-sectional mixing and the heat transfer rate. In the present study, an incompressible viscous 3-D flow in spiral tubes with rectangular cross-section of various torsion rate and Reynolds number is studied by using a finite volume method. It is shown that the axial velocity profile is affected by the secondary flow motion. Because there is some difference from correlation proposed by Hur et al., a lot of analysis and arrangement of experimental results are needed. This study showed the results of variation of hydrodynamic entry length for torsion and Re numbers.

  • Various bearings such as deep-groove ball bearings, angular-contact ball bearings, and roller bearings are used to support the load and to lubricate between the shaft and the housing. The bearings of potential rolling systems in a turbo pump are the deep-groove ball bearings as comparing with the bearings with rolling elements such as cylindrical rollers, tapered cylindrical rollers, and needle rollers. The deep-groove ball bearings consist of rolling elements, an inner raceway, an outer raceway and a retainer that maintain separation and help to lubricate the rolling element that is rotating in the raceways. In the case of water-lubricated ball bearings, however, fluid friction between the ball and raceways is affected by the entry direction of flow, rotation speed, and flow rate. In addition, this friction is the key factor affecting the bearing life cycles and reliability. In this paper, the characteristics of flow conditions corresponding to a deep-groove ball bearing are investigated numerically, with particular focus on the friction distribution on the rolling element, in order to extend the analysis to the area that experiences solid friction. A simple analysis model of fluid flow inside the water-lubricated ball bearing is analyzed with CFD, and the flow characteristics at high rotation speeds are presented.

  • The jet pump can be used in a test device of a nuclear reactor for high flow amplification as it reduces inlet flow requirement and thereby size of the process components. In the present work, a miniature jet pump was designed to meet high flow amplification greater than 3. Subsequently, experiments were carried out using a test setup for design validation and performance evaluation of the jet pump for different parameters. It was observed that a minimum pressure of 0.6 bar (g) was required for the secondary fluid inside the jet pump to ensure cavitation free performance at high amplification. Spacing between the nozzle tip and the mixing chamber entry point had significant effect on the performance of the jet pump. Variation in primary flow, temperature and area ratio also affected the performance. It was observed that at high flow amplification, the analytical solution differed significantly from experimental results due to very large velocities encountered in the miniature size jet pump.

  • The high pressure cryogenic ball valve is used to transfer the liquefied natural gas which temperature is $-196^{\circ}C$, supplied pressure is $168kgf/cm^2$. In the present work, the temperature distribution and thermal deformation is calculated numerically. The CAR and CFD methods are useful to predict the thermal matter and the inner flow field of high pressure cryogenic ball valve. For this reason, to optimum design of the cryogenic ball valve, the theological behavior of the supplied LNG in a cryogenic valve has been studied. The governing equations are discredited and solved numerically by the finite-volume method and finite-element method. In this study, we designed the high pressure cryogenic ball valve that accomplishes zero leakage by elastic seal at normal temperature and metal seal at high temperature.

  • Finishing mill (FM) is set up with rolling conditions (rolling speed, rolling force, roll gap, etc.) calculated by a FSU (Finisher Setup) model considering the temperature, qualities and size of a transfer bar and a strip at the entry and exit of FM before the transfer bar is rolled through FM. If the accuracy of setup is low mass flow unbalance occurs, so that the accuracies of the strip thickness and width become lower or rolling operation fault occurs. Therefore, to enhance the performance of the FSU model and to improve mass flow and the thickness accuracy of a strip in the 7-stand finishing mill using a hot strip speed measurement system. This study is being performed. In this paper, the speed measurement system, a developed neural network for predicting ...
