Wireless sensor networks are often organized in the form of clusters leading to the new framework of WSN called cluster or hierarchical WSN where each cluster head is responsible for its own cluster and its members. These hierarchical WSN are prone to various routing layer attacks such as Black hole, Gray hole, Sybil, Wormhole, Flooding etc. These routing layer attacks try to spoof, falsify or drop the packets during the packet routing process. They may even flood the network with unwanted data packets. If one cluster head is captured and made malicious, the entire cluster member nodes beneath the cluster get affected. On the other hand if the cluster member nodes are malicious, due to the broadcast wireless communication between all the source nodes it can disrupt the entire cluster functions. Thereby a scheme which can detect both the malicious cluster member and cluster head is the current need. Abnormal energy consumption of nodes is used to identify the malicious activity. To serve this purpose a learning based energy prediction algorithm is proposed. Thus a two level energy prediction based intrusion detection scheme to detect the malicious cluster head and cluster member is proposed and simulations were carried out using NS2-Mannasim framework. Simulation results achieved good detection ratio and less false positive.
The Korea Aerospace Research Institute is responsible for supplying and supporting the utilization of imagery data from the Arirang satellite series for organizations affiliated with the Government Satellite Information Application Consultation. Most of them primarily utilize optical imagery, and there is a relative lack of utilization of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery. In this paper, as part of supporting the use of SAR images, we investigated SAR intensity-based change detection algorithms and their use cases that have been researched to determine SAR intensity-based change detection algorithms to be developed in the future. As a result of the research, we found that various algorithms utilizing intensity difference, correlation coefficients, histograms, or polarimetric information have been researched by numerous researchers to detect and analyze change pixels and the applications of change detection algorithms have been studied in various fields such as a city, flood, forest fire, and vegetation. This study will serve as a reference for the development of SAR change detection algorithms, intended for utilization in the Government Satellite Information Application Consultation.

Today, Distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack present a very serious threat to the stability of the internet. The DDoS attack, which is consuming all of the computing or communication resources necessary for the service, is known very difficult to protect. The DDoS attack usually transmits heavy traffic data to networks or servers and they cannot handle the normal service requests because of running out of resources. It is very hard to prevent the DDoS attack. Therefore, an intrusion detection system on large network is need to efficient real-time detection. In this paper, we propose the detection mechanism using analysis of flow information against DDoS attacks in order to guarantee the transmission of normal traffic and prevent the flood of abnormal traffic. The OPNET simulation results show that our ideas can provide enough services in DDoS attack.
There is always a risk of water disasters due to sudden storms in mountainous regions in Korea, which is more than 70% of the country's land. In this study, a radar-based risk prediction technique for sudden downpour is applied in the mountainous region and is evaluated for its applicability using Mt. Biseul rain radar. Eight local heavy rain events in mountain regions are selected and the information was calculated such as early detection of cumulonimbus convective cells, automatic detection of convective cells, and risk index of detected convective cells using the three-dimensional radar reflectivity, rainfall intensity, and doppler wind speed. As a result, it was possible to confirm the initial detection timing and location of convective cells that may develop as a localized heavy rain, and the magnitude and location of the risk determined according to whether or not vortices were generated. In particular, it was confirmed that the ground rain gauge network has limitations in detecting heavy rains that develop locally in a narrow area. Besides, it is possible to secure a time of at least 10 minutes to a maximum of 65 minutes until the maximum rainfall intensity occurs at the time of obtaining the risk information. Therefore, it would be useful as information to prevent flash flooding disaster and marooned accidents caused by heavy rain in the mountainous area using this technique.
Amid the flood of data, social network analysis is beneficial in searching for its hidden context and verifying several pieces of information. This can be used for detecting the spread model of infectious diseases, methods of preventing infectious diseases, mining of small groups and so forth. In addition, community detection is the most studied topic in social network analysis using graph analysis methods. The objective of this study is to examine signed attributed social networks and identify the maximal balanced cliques that are both absolute and fair. In the same vein, the purpose is to ensure fairness in complex networks, overcome the "information cocoon" bottleneck, and reduce the occurrence of "group polarization" in social networks. Meanwhile, an empirical study is presented in the experimental section, which uses the personal information of 77 employees of a research company and the trust relationships at the professional level between employees to mine some small groups with the possibility of "group polarization." Finally, the study provides suggestions for managers of the company to align and group new work teams in an organization.

In this paper, we propose the NCP (Network Control Platform)-based defense mechanism against DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks in order to guarantee the transmission of normal traffic and prevent the flood of abnormal traffic. We also define defense modules, the threshold and packet drop-rate used for the response against DDoS attacks. NCP analyzes whether DDoS attacks are occurred or not based on the flow and queue information collected from SR (Source Router) and VR (Victim Router). Attack packets are dopped according to drop rate decided from NCP. The performance is simulated using OPNET and evaluated in terms of the queue size of both SR and VR, the transmitted volumes of legitimate and attack packets at SR.

The reservoir area is defined as the area surrounded by the planned flood level of the dam or the land under the planned flood level of the dam. In this study, supervised classification based on RF (Random Forest), which is a representative machine learning technique, was performed to detect cropland in the reservoir area. In order to classify the cropland in the reservoir area efficiently, the GLCM (Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix), which is a representative technique to quantify texture information, NDWI (Normalized Difference Water Index) and NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) were utilized as additional features during classification process. In particular, we analyzed the effect of texture information according to window size for generating GLCM, and suggested a methodology for detecting croplands in the reservoir area. In the experimental result, the classification result showed that cropland in the reservoir area could be detected by the multispectral, NDVI, NDWI and GLCM images of UAV, efficiently. Especially, the window size of GLCM was an important parameter to increase the classification accuracy.
Land cover changes are occurring for a variety of reasons such as urbanization, infrastructure construction, desertification, drought, flood, and so on. Many researchers have studied the cause and effect of land cover changes, and also the methods for change detection. However, most of the detection methods are based on the dichotomy of "change" and "not change" according a threshold value. In this paper, we present a change detection method with the integration of probability, spatial autocorrelation, and hotspot detection. We used the AMOEBA (A Multidirectional Ecotope-Based Algorithm) and developed the AMOEBA-CH (core hotspot) because the original algorithm tends to produce too many clusters. Our method considers the probability of land cover changes and the spatial interactions between each pixel and its neighboring pixels using a local spatial autocorrelation measure. The core hotspots of land cover changes can be delineated by a contiguity-dominance model of our AMOEBA-CH method. We tested our algorithm in a simulation for land cover changes using NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) data in South Korea between 2000 and 2008.

Change point analysis is a efficient tool to understand the fundamental information in hydro-meteorological data such as rainfall, discharge, temperature etc. Especially, this fundamental information to change points to future rainfall data identified by reasonable detection skills can affect the prediction of flood and drought occurrence because well detected change points provide a key to resolve the non-stationary or inhomogeneous problem by climate change. Therefore, in this study, the comparative study to assess the performance of the 3 change point detection skills, cumulative sum (CUSUM) method, Bayesian change point (BCP) method, and segmentation by dynamic programming (DP) was performed. After assessment of the performance of the proposed detection skills using the 3 types of the synthetic series, the 2 reasonable detection skills were applied to the observed and future rainfall data at the 5 rainfall gauges in South Korea. Finally, it was suggested that BCP (with 0.9 posterior probability) could be best detection skill and DP could be reasonably recommended through the comparative study. Also it was suggested that BCP (with 0.9 posterior probability) and DP detection skills to find some change points could be reasonable at the North-eastern part in South Korea. In future, the results in this study can be efficiently used to resolve the non-stationary problems in hydrological modeling considering inhomogeneity or nonstationarity.
The objective of this paper is to extract and analyze the sediment environment change information in the Sachencheon, Gangneung, Korea that was seriously damaged as a result of typhoon Rusa aftermath early in September, 2002 using multi-temporal remote sensing data. For the extraction of change information, an unsupervised approach based on the automatic determination of thresholding values was applied. As the change detection results, turbidity changes right after typhoon Rusa, the decrease of wetlands, the increase of dry sand and channel width and changes of relative level in the stream due to seasonal variation were observed. Sedimentation in the cultivated areas and restoration works also affected the change near the Sacheoncheon. In addition to the change detection analysis, several environmental thematic maps including microtopographic map, distributions of estimated amount of flood deposits and flood hazard landform classification map were generated by using remote sensing and field survey data. In conclusion, multi-temporal remote sensing data can be effectively used for natural hazard analysis and damage information extraction and specific data processing techniques for high-resolution remote sensing data should also be developed.
