  • The paper presents a simple method for calculating the sound exposure level (LAE) of helicopter noise. It is assumed that a helicopter is a nondirective point source and that A-weighted sound pressure level at an observation point can be expressed by an A-weighted power level and a simple function of the distance from the helicopter. We derived a formula for LAE by integrating the sound energy along a finite or an infinite flight segment. The values calculated form the formula agree well with the results of test flights in which three types of helicopters each were operated in three moving modes of approach, takeoff and level flyover.

  • In this era, intelligence is considered a major factor in the defense sector. As a result, securing technology for weapons systems for monitoring and reconnaissance of companies has become inevitable. As a result, UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) have been developed and are actively operating around the world if the flight operation of manned aircraft is restricted, such as in environments that are too dangerous, messy or boring for the military to perform directly. The system of unmanned aerial vehicles, which has been researched and developed in Korea, includes Air Vehicle Test Equipment(AVTE). AVTE is equipment that is connected to an UAV to check its status and allows the operator to check its flightability by issuing an operational command to the UAV and verifying that it follows the command values. This study conducts fault finding on the phenomenon where the AVTE has stopped operating due to engine noise during these operations and analyzes the cause in terms of software, hardware and external environment. Present improvement measures according to the cause are analyzed and the results of verifying that the proposed measures can prevent failure are addressed.

  • ASC(Avionics System Computer) was developed to control weapon delivery and navigation sensors, and to perform man-machine interface with pilots for XKO-1 aircraft. The data communications between ASC and UFC(Up Front Controller), DC(Data Concentrator) were implemented by RS422 serial data bus. Also, SCIL(Standard Computer Interface Library) was designed to facilitate control and management of the computer hardware resources and is embedded in the ASC. These structures have a merit of noise immunity and a reduction of wire harness for signal lines, and enable OFP(Operational Flight Program) programmers to use the SCIL easily without knowing hardware details. Manufactured system was on installed on XKO-1, and peformed for BIT(Built In Test) and interface test with UFC and DC. The test results show that it meets the system requirements.

  • KSR-III(Korea Sounding Rocket - III), which is being developed by Space Technology R&D Division of KARI(Korea Aerospace Research Institute) will be launched in late 2002. It is a three-stage, liquid propellant rocket which can reach 250 km altitude and will carry out observation of ozone layer and scientific experiments, such as microgravity experiment, and atmospheric measurement. KSR-III is believed to be an intermediate to the launch vehicle capable of carrying a satellite to its orbit. Space Test Department of KARI performed GVT(Ground Vibration Test) fer KSR-III EM at Rocket Test Building of KARI. GVT is very important for predicting the behavior of rocket in its operation, developing flight control program and performing aerodynamic analysis. This paper gives an introduction of rocket GVT configuration and information on test procedures, techniques and results of It. In this test. to simulate free-free condition, test object hung in the air laterally by 4 bungee cords specially devised. For the excitation of test object, pure random signal by two electromagnetic shakers was used and total 22 frequency response functions were achieved. Polyreference parameter estimation was performed to identify the modal parameters with MIMO(Multi-Input-Multi-Output) method. As the result of the test, low frequency mode shapes and modal parameters below 60Hz were identified

  • Recently, as the speed and performance of the launcher and the missile have been improved, it is necessary to consider the acoustic load of launching and flight in initial design step. In this paper, an experimental study on acoustic absorption and transmission characteristics of aluminium vs. sandwich composite structures were conducted. The overall noise reduction was evaluated by performing an acoustic test in the reverberation room, and the acoustic absorption and transmission loss of the structures were analyzed by conducting the sound absorption test inside the structure.

  • Rocket, held using the CCA for the mission, a plurality of recording devices, and navigation equipment. In case of a projectile which is entered the water after fired into the air, after performing stages and fairing separated in flight to enter the underwater. It is caused by the explosion of gunpowder mainly, vibration phenomenon of a large transition is induced structurally very, also on entering the water, have a significant shock structurally separated. If shock is transmitted directly to the CCA through the body, it can be caused malfunction of payloads, resulting in failure of the mission of the projectile. In order to ensure the stability against shock, in this paper, Calculating a target resonacne frequency of the CCA, and verified through modal test and analysis. Maximum acceleration position of CCA is checked by SRS analysis. In addition, effectiveness of shock isolation system through shock analysis.

  • The GPS(Global Positioning System) receiver for satellite launch vehicles which will be mounted on a launch vehicle can be applied to the flight safety system with its accurately calculated position and velocity data during vehicle's flight. This paper analyzes the performance of the GPS receiver such as SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio), fix mode, position and velocity error, number of visible and tracking satellites, and PDOP(Position Dilution of Precision) under temperature variation which is changed from -34$^{\circ}C$ to +71$^{\circ}C$.

  • Current ILS is difficult for the many aircraft to access to the system at the same time because of it's system. And the equipments should be installed at the direction of every runway. Also, There is limitation that landing procedures must be have of only ILS single course when the aircraft land on the ground. hereupon, The more air traffic exist, the longer delay time of flight be. GBAS using the GNSS has been developed to overcome those limitations. Before flight test in Teean airport, this paper compares the taean approach procedure and curved approach procedure by using the simulator. Comparison study shows that curved approach procedure takes less flight time, low fuel consumpsion and make it possible to avoid noise airspace more than original procedure.

  • This paper describes the design and development of a transmit receiver module(TRM) for mounting on X-band SAR of the NEXTSat-2. The TRM generates the chirp signal with required bandwidth through the DDS in X-band and performs frequency conversion, combination for the signal to transmit and be received and frequency synthesis. Tx path of the TRM produces signals of total 28 bandwidths up to 96.8 MHz and has output signal level of more than + 9.37 dBm. Rx path of the TRM has minimum noise figure of 15.7 dB. The measurement results show that required requirements are satisfied. The TRM is installed on the NEXTSat-2 flight model(FM), launched by KSLV-II(Nuri) on May 23, 2023 and currently operational.

  • MIRIS (Multipurpose Infra-Red Imaging System) is the first Korean Infrared Space Telescope developed by KASI (Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute), and is the main payload of STSAT-3 (Science and Technology Satellite-3). The FM (fight model) of MIRIS has been recently completed, and various performance tests have been made to measure system parameters such as readout noise, system gain, linearity, and dark current. Final thermal-vacumm test of the MIRIS and the vibration test of the electronics box have been performed. Band response tests showed good agreement with the initial design requirements. No significant dark difference was measured within the expected temperature variation range during observation in orbit. Using Pa-alpha band from a uniform source, the readout noise and system gain were measured by mean variance test. To obtain uniform flat image, flat fielding tests were made for each band, and the data will be compared to that obtained in orbit for calibration. The final version of MIRIS FM will be delivered in March, and it will be integrated into the satellite system for the AIT (Assembly Integration, Test) procedure. The launch of MIRIS is expected in November 2012.
