This study extends previous experimental research on the shear behaviour of macrosynthetic fibre-reinforced concrete beams and compares them to steel fibre-reinforced concrete beams with similar mechanical and geometrical properties. This work employed two fibre types: 60/0.9 (long/diameter) double hooked-end steel fibre and 60/85 monofilament polypropylene fibre. Beams were tested by shear loading covering parameters, such as two different cross-section widths, two shear-span-to-effective-depth ratios, two fibre types and using repetitions with and without transverse reinforcement. For quantitative comparison purposes, crack pattern evolution was studied along increasing loads levels. Effects were studied by photogrammetry, including influence of fibres on crack propagation in uncracked and dowel zones, influence of fibres on stirrup behaviour, and shear deformation or kinematics of critical shear cracks. The results evidenced similar effectiveness for both fibre types in controlling shear crack propagation and horizontal dowel cracking. Both fibres provided similar shear ductility and shear deflections. Consequently, the authors confirm that residual flexural tensile strengths are a convenient parameter for characterising the shear behaviour of fibre-reinforced concrete beams.

Recently, a concern to verify the displacement capacity of shear wall has been arised to produce suitable data for the performance based design. In this paper, a process is presented In evaluate the displacement capacity of shear wall. The displacement of shear wall is expressed as the superpositopn of shear and flexural deformation. Variable crack angle truss model with a modification and existing analysis program(XTRACT) are used in calculating shear and flexural displacement, respectively. The accuracy of proposed method is evaluated by the comparison calculation results with previous test results. From the comparison, it was shown that the displacement capacity of shear wall could be well predicted by using the process.
An innovated type of the flat steel plate-lightweight aggregate concrete hollow composite slab was presented in this paper. This kind of the slab is composed of flat steel plate and the lightweight aggregate concrete slab, which were interfaced with a set of perfobond shear connectors (PBL shear connectors) with circular hollow structural sections (CHSS) and the shear stud connectors. Five specimens were tested under static monotonic loading. In the test, the influence of shear span/height ratios and arrangements of CHSS on bending capacity and flexural rigidity of the composite slabs were investigated. Based on the test results, the crack patterns, failure modes, the bending moment-curvature curves as well as the strains of the flat steel plate and the concrete were focused and analyzed. The test results showed that the flat steel plate was fully connected to the lightweight aggregate concrete slab and no obvious slippage was observed between the steel plate and the concrete, and the composite slabs performed well in terms of bending capacity, flexural rigidity and ductility. It was further shown that all of the specimens failed in bending failure mode regardless of the shear span/height ratios and the arrangement of CHSS. Moreover, the plane-section assumption was proved to be valid, and the calculated formulas for predicting the bending capacity and the flexural rigidity of the composite slabs were proposed on the basis of the experimental results.

Two-way slabs reinforced with high-performance steels, which have several practical advantages of a reduction of congestion in heavily reinforced members, savings in the cost of labor and repair, the higher corrosion resistance, and a reduction of construction time, were constructed and tested. The influences of the flexural reinforcement ratio, concentrating the reinforcement in the immediate column region, and using steel fiber-reinforced concrete (SFRC) in the slab on the punching shear resistance and post-cracking stiffness were investigated, and compared with the punching shear test results of the slabs reinforced with conventional steels and GFRP bars. In addition, the strain distribution of flexural reinforcements and crack control were investigated, and the effective width calculating method for the average flexural reinforcement ratio was estimated. The use of high-performance steel reinforcement increased the punching shear strength of slabs, and decreased the amount of flexural reinforcements. The concentrating the top mat of flexural reinforcement increased the post-cracking stiffness, and showed better strain distribution and crack control. In addition, the use of SFRC showed beneficial effects on the punching shear strength and crack control. It was suggest that the effective width should be changed to larger than 2 times the slab thickness from the column faces.

Steel fiber and polymer are used widely for reinforcement material of RC structures because of its excellences of the durability, serviceability as well as mechanical properties. The purpose of this study is to investigate the shear behavior of polymer cement high strength concrete beams mixed with steel fiber. The compressive strength of concrete was based on the 100$\times$200 mm cylinder specimens. The compressive strength of concrete are 320$kgf/cm^2$, 436 $kgf/cm^2$ and 520 $kgf/cm^2$ in the 28 days. The static test was carried out to measure the ultimate load, the initial load of flexural and diagonal cracking, crack patterns and fracture modes. Also, load-strain and load-deflection examined. During the test cracks were sketched against the load values according to the growth of crack. result are as follows; (1) The failure modes of the specimens are increased in rigidity and durability with mixing steel fiber and polymer. (2) The load of initial crack was similar a theory of shear-crack strength. (3) The deflection and strain at failure load of Polymer-steel fiber high strength concrete beams were increased, improving the brittleness of the high strength concrete.

It is recently reported that bond failure can be initiated in the region where maximum bending moment and shear force is acted by accompanying shear deformation after flexural crack in full-scale RC beams strengthened by CFRP. Such a shear deformation effect causing bond failure is relatively little in the case of small-scale specimens. So, additional reinforcing details to the critical beam section where maximum moment and shear were acted is required to prevent the bond failure caused by the shear deformations. The U-type wrapping methods by CFRP to the critical beam section is proposed and tested in this paper. Also, the applicability of design bond strength derived from the tests of small-scale beam was investigated by the full-scale RC beam strengthened by CFRP.

The new p-version crack model is proposed to estimate the bending stress intensity factors of the thick cracked plate under flexure. The proposed model is based on high order theory and $C^{\circ}$-plate element including shear deformation. The displacements fields are defined by integrals of Legerdre polynomials which can be classified into three groups such as basic mode, side mode and internal mode. The computer implementation allows arbitrary variations of p-level up to a maximum value of 10. The bending stress intensity factors are computed by virtual crack extention approach. The effects of ratios of thickness to crack length(h/a), crack length to width(a/W) and boundary conditions are investigated. Very good agreement with the existing solution in the literature are shown for the uncracked plate as well as the cracked plate.

An experimental investigation on the behavior of reinforced concrete coupling beams is presented. The test variables are the span-to-depth ratio, the ratio of flexural reinforcements and the ratio of shear rebars. The distribution of arch action and truss action which compose the mechanism of shear resistance is discussed. The increase of plastic deformation after yielding transforms the shear transfer by arch action into by truss action. This study proposes the deformation model for reinforced concrete coupling beams considering the bond slip of flexural reinforcement. The strain distribution model of shear reinforcements and flexural reinforcements based on test results is presented. The yielding of flexural reinforcements determines yielding states and the ultimate states of reinforced concrete coupling beam are defined as the ultimate compressive strain of struts and the degradation of compressive strength due to principal tensile strain of struts. The flexural-shear failure mechanism determines the ultimate state of RC coupling beams. It is expected that this model can be applied to displacement-based design methods.
Concrete cracking due to brittle tension strength significantly prevents fully utilization of the materials for "flexural-shear failure" type shear walls. Theoretical and experimental studies applying fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) have achieved fruitful results in improving the seismic performance of "flexural-shear failure" reinforced concrete shear walls. To come to an understanding of an optimal design strategy and find common performance prediction method for design methodology in terms to FRC shear walls, seismic performance on shear walls with PVA and steel FRC at edge columns and plastic region are compared in this study. The seismic behavior including damage mode, lateral bearing capacity, deformation capacity, and energy dissipation capacity are analyzed on different fiber reinforcing strategies. The experimental comparison realized that the lateral strength and deformation capacity are significantly improved for the shear walls with PVA and steel FRC in the plastic region and PVA FRC in the edge columns; PVA FRC improves both in tensile crack prevention and shear tolerance while steel FRC shows enhancement mainly in shear resistance. Moreover, the tensile strength of the FRC are suggested to be considered, and the steel bars in the tension edge reaches the ultimate strength for the confinement of the FRC in the yield and maximum lateral bearing capacity prediction comparing with the model specified in provisions.

Recently, a concern to verify the displacement capacity of shear wall has been arised to produce suitable data for the performance based design. In this paper, a process is presented to evaluate the displacement capacity of shear wall. The displacement of shear wall is expressed as the superposition of shear and flexural deformation. Variable crack angle truss model with a modification and sectional analysis method are used in calculating shear and flexural displacement, respectively. In addition, the effect of axial force and the contribution of vertical and horizontal reinforcements in wall are considered in the analysis. The accuracy of proposed method is evaluated by the comparison calculation results with previous test results. From the comparison, it was shown that the hysteretic behavior of shear wall could be well predicted by using the process. In the case with flange wall, however, the method overestimates the contribution of flange wall for strength and stiffness and underestimates for displacement capacity.
