  • An Parallax-Barrier type autostereoscopic display system is implemented to overcome the handicap of current glass-typed stereo imaging system which gives operators unnatural feeling and reluctance. This system is composed of image mixing part of two input images, A/D transformation part, scan conversion part to eliminate the rainbow interference phenomenon, and pin-hole type barrier lens. For the fine display the accurate slit width of barrier is calculated in consideration of retina size, and the samsung 10.4" TFT-LCO was used as flat display monitor.itor.

  • The Japanese National Project "Carbon Nanotube FED" is developing a high image-quality and low power-consumption field emission display (FED) by applying carbon nanotube (CNT) to the electron source. A uniform electron source with a flat-film CNTs and fine structure triodes Fir suppressing the deviation of emission is required. For realizing an FED panel, it is also necessary to develop the glass-bulb technologies for vacuum sealing, and display technologies for driving the panel by circuit electronic and for evaluating the picture quality by measuring. By achieving these technologies, an FED compatible with conventional Cathode Ray Tubes (CRTs) will be realized.

  • We have developed a new COG technique using flip chip solder joining technology for excellent resolution and high quality LCD panels. Using the eutectic Bi-Sn and the eutectic In-Ag solder bumps of 50-80 ${\mu}m$ pitch sizes, a ultrafine interconnection between IC and glass substrate was successfully made at or below $160^{\circ}C$. The contact resistance and reliability of Bi-Sn solder joint showed the superiority over the conventional ACF bonding.

  • To know the seawater infiltration into tidal flat sediment in coastal area is very important, because it is significantly correlated with the infiltration and transportation of pollutants in soil, the supply of dissolved oxygen, nutrients and organic matter to benthic organisms for survival of benthic organisms and the seawater purification. So, we set up purpose to clarify the infiltration behavior of seawater by wave action in tidal flat, to clear the effects of slope of tidal flat and breaking wave height on seawater infiltration and to quantify the infiltration volume of seawater. For purpose, the seawater infiltration was studied with visualization method by using coloring tracer and transparent glass beads replaced as natural sediment in model tidal flat. Specific conclusions derived from this study are as follows. The semi-circular type infiltration of seawater by wave action into saturated sediment was a new infiltration behavior that was not considered in previous studies. The infiltration rate of seawater was increased with increasing of breaking wave height and slope of tidal flat. However, the effects of the slope was bigger than that of breaking wave height on seawater infiltration into tidal flat sediments. It was possible to calculate the infiltration volume of seawater by wave action in natural tidal flat sediment and in fields. Therefore, we can point out that wave action play an important role in the supply of dissolved oxygen, nutrients and organic matter to benthic organisms, transportation or diffusion of pollutants and seawater purification. So, we hope to be studied the supply of food to benthic organism, pollutant transport and seawater purification on the base of these results.

  • Tin oxide thin-films have been widely applied in various fields of high-technology industries due to their excellent physical and electric properties. Those applications are found in various sensors, heating elements of windshield windows, solar cells, flat panel displays as tranparent electrodes. In this study, we conducted an experiment for the deposition of $SnO_2$ on glass of 2nd Gen. size for the effective development of large-scale backplanes. As deposition temperatures or flow rates of the $SnCl_4$ as a precursor changed, the thickness of tin oxide thin-films, their sheet resistances, transmittances, and hazes varied considerably.

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to evaluate fluoride release and the micro-shear bond strength of resin-modified glass ionomer cement (RMGIC) in casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP-ACP)-remineralized caries-affected dentin (CAD). Materials and Methods: Exposed dentin surfaces of 30 human third molar teeth were divided into 2 equal groups for evaluating fluoride release and the micro-shear bond strength of RMGIC to CAD. Each group was subdivided into 3 equal subgroups: 1) control (sound dentin); 2) artificially demineralized dentin (CAD); 3) CPP-ACP remineralized dentin (remineralized CAD). To measure fluoride release, 15 disc-shaped specimens of RMGIC (4 mm in diameter and 2 mm in thickness) were bonded on one flat surface of the dentin discs of each group. Fluoride release was tested using ion chromatography at different intervals; 24 hours, 3, 5, 7 days. RMGIC micro-cylinders were built on the flat dentin surface of the 15 discs, which were prepared according to the assigned group. Micro-shear bond strength was measured after 24 hours water storage. Data were analyzed using 1- and 2-way analysis of variance and the post hoc least significant difference test (${\alpha}=0.05$). Results: Fluoride detected in solutions (at all intervals) and the micro-shear bond strength of RMGIC bonded to CPP-ACP-remineralized dentin were significantly higher than those bonded to artificial CAD (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Demineralized CAD consumes more fluoride released from RMGIC into the solution for remineralization than CPP-ACP mineralized dentin does. CPP-ACP increases the micro-shear bond strength of RMGIC to CAD.

  • In this paper, warpages of heterogeneous LTCC substrates comprised of high K/low K hi-layered structure were investigated. The effect of glass content in high K LTCC layer on the warpage of substrate during co-firing process was examined. Shrinkage and dielectric properties of high K and low K green sheets were measured. In-situ camber observation by hot stage microscopy showed different camber development of heterogeneous LTCC substrates according to glass content in high K green sheet. High K green sheet containing $50\%$ glass was matched to low K green sheet in the shrinkage. Therefore, LTCC substrate of Low K/High K+$50\%$ glass structure showed flat surface after sintering.

  • Plasma Display Panel(PDP) is a type of flat panel display utilizing the light emission produced by gas discharge. Barrier Ribs of PDP separating each sub-pixel prevents optical and electrical crosstalks from adjacent sub-pixels. The mold for forming the barrier ribs has been newly researched to overcome the disadvantages of conventional manufacturing processes such as screen printing, sand-blasting and photosensitive glass methods. The mold for PDP barrier ribs have stripes of micro grooves transferring glass-material wall. In this paper , Stripes of grooves of which width 48$\mu$m, depth 124$\mu$m , pitch 274$\mu$m was acquired by machining of single crystal silicon with dicing saw blade. Maximum roughness of the bottom of the grooves was 59.6 nm Ra in grooving Si. Barrier ribs were farmed with silicone rubber mold, which is transferred from grooved Si forming hard mold. Silicone rubber mold has the elasticity, which enable to accommodate the waviness of lower glass plate of PDP. The methods assisted by the microwave and UV was adopted for reducing the forming time of glass paste.

  • For vacuum seated panel, stresses and displacements in the glass plate were calculated. The geometric variables for our experiment were the thickness of glass plate, the size of panel and the width of sealing line. The fracture behaviors and displacements of its under the vacuum were measured. From the measurement of strains and fracture, it was considered that the maximum stress acted at the middle of the sides of the panel. The stresses and displacement distribution of manufactured panels were greatly dependent on the width of the sealing line in the panel. The measured values are more similar to the values which were calculated from the condition of built-in edge as the width of the sealing line is larger. The measured displacement of the panel, made of 3mm thick glass plate, with size of $80\Times120\textrm{mm}^2$ and 20mm sealing line was $57\mu\textrm{m}$. This value is similar to calculated value, $54\mu\textrm{m}$, from built- in edge condition in the finite element method.
