  • We have introduced fourth generation PDPs last year. The performance of these PDPs is the highest level among TV displays. At the same time the power consumption of them has reached to the lowest level among FPDs (Flat Panel Displays). High panel luminous efficacy and low address power are necessary for the reduction of total power consumption. Following technologies have been developed and applied to the fourth generation PDPs. High panel luminous efficacy: T-shape electrode, waffle rib structure, high Xe content gas Low address power; CLEAR driving method, etc.

  • There has been a new trend to integrate various kinds of circuits by low temperature polycrystalline silicon thin film transistor (LTPS TFT) on insulator substrates to achieve System on Panel (SOP) for flat panel displays. In this paper, we will review the trend of the SOP and discuss the utility and future possibility of the SOP.

  • 현재 정보통신의 강국으로 손꼽히고 있는 국내에서도 FPD(Flat Panel Display) 장치를 첨단산업 핵심 기술로 보고 기업 간에 치열한 기술경쟁을 벌이고 있는 실정이다. 현재 양산단계까지 접어든 TFT-LCD(Tin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display)와 PDP(Plasma Display Panel)는 경량화, 박형화 등의 장점으로 전자업계에서 최고의 캐시카우(Cash Cow)로 부각되고 있으며, 특히 소비자들의 대화면 선호도의 증가 추세에 힘입어 LCD보다는 콘트라스트 비(Contrast Ratio)와 시야각(View Angle) 측면에 있어 FPD 장치의 대면적화 관점에서 유리한 PDP가 다소 우위를 보이고 있는 추세이다.(중략)

  • A new touch-sensitive hydrogenated amorphous silicon(a-Si:H) display with embedded optical sensor arrays is presented. The touch-sensitive panel operation was successfully demonstrated on a prototype of 16-in. active-matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD). The proposed system provides the finger touched point without the real-time image processing of information of the captured images. Due to the simple architecture of the system, we expect the introduction of large-area touch-sensitive display panels.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose the building design guideline considering photovoltaic panel installation through the analysis of relevant guidelines from home and abroad in terms of building design and solar panel installation. Conclusions can be summarized as followings; Considerations in building design : selection of the site with high solar accessibility, avoidance of the shade from the adjacent building & trees, south facing orientation of solar panel in building design, removal of shade on the solar panel from the part of building itself, load consideration of solar panel & fixing materials, safe passage securement for solar system maintenance, and planning of piping and mechanical room for solar system. Considerations in solar panel installation : harmonizing of solar panel with surrounding environment, unity of solar panel orientation & slope, regular maintenance of solar system, (in case of flat roof installation) solar panel installation afloat over the roof, installation area within the roof floor, and lower than parapet height, (in case of sloped roof installation) solar panel installation parallel with the roof slope, ventilation space securement below the panel, installation area within the roof surface, and similar material installation in empty space.

  • The popularity of flat-panel display(FPD), including plasma display panel(PDP) and liquid-crystal display(LCD), has given rise to the need to streamline their production. In these days, PDP is one of the most popular display devices because of its expansion of manufacturing process and simplicity. Bus electrodes, sustain electrodes, barrier ribs and RGB phosphors are patterned on PDP panel to display an image. Since a minute damage on the pattern can cause a serious defect to display, it is important to inspect the pattern precisely. In this paper, an automatic inspection system of repeated pattern in PDP panel has been introduced to find the defect, such as open, short, dirt, island, and so on. And the inspection system has been operated in the mass production line of PDP.

고속철도차량용 알루미늄 압출재의 차음성능에 대한 폼 충전효과 (Sound-Insulation Performance of Aluminum Extruded Panel by Charging Foam in a High-speed Train)

  • The aluminum extruded panel used for a high speed train shows the largest contribution to sound insulation performance of the train body. However, comparing with the flat panel having the same weight, the transmission loss falls sharply in the local resonance frequency band. Such fall of transmission loss can be improved by increasing the damping of local resonance. This study examines the charging effect of an urethane foam on the aluminum extruded panel of a high speed train. We charged the urethane foam with different mass density and in different way in the core part of the extruded panel. We measure the transmission loss and compare the sound insulation performance according to the density and charging method. Finally, Improvement effect of the transmission loss is compared and analysed in aspect of weight increment.

  • The study on discharge of the flat lamp lighting source has been requested increasingly. To improve the brightness, life time and efficiency of flat lamp, the plasma diagnosis of flat lamp lighting source is very important. When a distance of discharge electrode is 5.5mm and width is 16.5mm, we measured electron temperature and electron density with single Langmuir probe in flat lamp. Pressure conditions to test the plasma discharge from 100 Torr to 300 Torr. The power supply was PDS-4000 with frequency 20kHz and duty ratio $20\%.$ Form these experimental results, electron temperature was decreased according to increase the gas pressure and the voltage while electron density was increased.

  • Wind tunnel experiments were performed to study the wind loads on an inclined flat plate with and without a guide plate. Highly turbulent flow, which corresponded to free-stream turbulence intensity on the flat roof of low-rise buildings, was produced by a turbulence generation grid at the inlet of the test section. The test model could represent a typical solar collector panel of a solar water heater. There are up-stream movements of the separation bubble and side-edge vortices, more intense fluctuating pressure and a higher bending moment in the turbulent flow. A guide plate would result in higher lift coefficient, particularly with an increased projected area ratio of a guide plate to an inclined flat plate. The value of lift coefficient is considerably lower with increased free-stream turbulent intensity.
