층류 대향류장에 형성된 분무화염의 2차원 비정상 모델링 -당량비 및 연료종에 관한 영향- (2-Dimensional Unsteady Modeling of Spray Flame Formed in a Laminar Counterflow Field - Effects of Equivalence Ratio and Fuel -)

  • 본 연구에서는 분무화염의 기초적인 물리현상을 해명하기 위하여 층류 대향류장에 형성된 분무 화염에 2차원 직접 수치계산(Direct numerical simulation, DNS)을 적용하여, 당량비 및 연료종이 분무화염 구조에 미치는 영향에 대하여 관찰하였다. 기상에 대해서는 질량 보존식, 운동량 보존식, 에너지 보존식을 오일리안(Eulerian) 법으로 계산하였으며, 액적에 대해서는 화염중의 모든 개개의 유적을 라그란지안(Lagrangian) 법으로 추적하였다. 액체 연료로는 n-데칸 ($C_{10}H_{22}$)과 n-헵탄($C_7H_{16}$)을 이용하였으며, 연소반응 모델에는 총괄반응식을 이용하였다. 당량비가 증가함에 따라 착화가 빠르며, 고온영역도 넓게 분포하고 있다. 그러나, 최대 온도치는 당량비가 증가함에 따라 한번 증가한 후 감소하는 경향을 나타내고 있다. 당량비가 클수록 최대 온도가 감소하는 것은 분무화염 내부의 군연소 거동에 의한 냉각효과 때문이라고 생각된다. 또한, n-헵탄은 n-데칸과 비교하여 증발속도가 빠르기 때문에 넓은 고온 영역을 형성하지만 최대 온도는 거의 같은 값을 나타내었다.

목재 및 목질재료용 난연성 폴리우레탄수지 도막의 난연성능 (Performance on Flame-Retardant Polyurethane Coatings for Wood and Wood-based Materials)

  • 본 연구에서는 MDF와 잣나무 판재에 대한 난연처리 및 난연도장 처리 시험편에 대한 난연 효과에 대해 고찰하였다. 무처리 MDF와 잣나무판재에 대한 td𝜃은 각각 279.5, 182.5로 나타났으나 난연침지 처리된 무늬단판을 오버레이한 MDF를 난연도장 처리 한 경우 높은 난연성능을 나타냈다. 난연처리한 잣나무판재에 난연도장 처리를 할 경우 th𝜃가 90으로 나타났고, 난연침지 처리 된 무늬단판이 오버레이 된 MDF에 난연도장처리한 경우에는 th𝜃가 0으로 나타난 가장 뛰어난 난연성능을 나타냈다. 전체적으로 난연처리 및 난연도장처리를 한 경우 th𝜃가 감소하는 것으로 나타나 난연성능이 개선되는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 연소도 시험결과 시험편의 중량감소율은 난연처리와 난연도장처리에 의해 감소함으로써 난연성능이 개선되는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 착화시간과 잔염시간의 측정결과도 유사하게 나타났으며 난연침지 처리 된 무늬단판이 오버레이 된 MDF 및 난연처리된 잣나무판재에 난연도장 처리한 경우 무처리된 경우에 비해 착화시간은 증가되고, 잔염시간은 감소하는 것으로 나타났다.

  • The spray behavior of direct-injection spark-ignition(DISI) engines is crucial for obtaining the required mixture distribution for optimal engine combustion. The spray characteristics of DISI engines are affected by many factors such as piston bowl shape, air flow, ambient temperature, injection pressure and fuel temperature. In this study, the effect of fuel temperature on the spray and combustion characteristics was partially investigated for the wall-guided system. The effect of fuel temperature on the fan spray characteristics was investigated in a steady flow rig embodied in a wind tunnel. The shadowgraphy and direct imaging methods were employed to visualize the spray development at different fuel temperatures. The microscopic characteristics of spray were investigated by the particle size measurements using a phase Doppler anemometry(PDA). The effect of injector temperature on the engine combustion characteristics during cold start and warming-up operating conditions was also investigated. Optical single cylinder DISI engine was used for the test, and the successive flame images captured by high speed camera, engine-out emissions and performance data have been analyzed. This could give the way of forming the stable mixture near the spark plug to achieve the stable combustion of DISI engine.

50 N급 아산화질소/에탄올 추력기의 점화 과도 유동장 가시화 (Visualization of Transient Ignition Flow-field in a 50 N Scale N2O/C2H5OH Thruster)

  • 아산화질소/에탄올 추진제 조합을 사용하는 50 N급 추력기 분사기 인접부에서 shadowgraph 기법을 사용하여 연소 유동장을 가시화하였다. 설계 작동조건에서 폭발성 점화가 일어났으며, 급격히 팽창하는 연소가스에 의해 순간적으로 소염되는 현상이 관찰되었다. 최초 점화로부터 약 83 ms 뒤 추진제 분무는 재점화 되었으며, 그로부터 약 23 ms 후 화염이 안정화되는 것이 관찰되었다. 동일한 시퀀스에서 설계 조건보다 산화제 유량을 증가시킨 경우, 소염 현상 없이 완만한 연소 압력 과도 특성을 보였으며 최초 점화로부터 약 17 ms이내에 화염 안정화가 이루어졌다. 이는 점화 직전의 연소기 내부 미연 추진제 혼합 향상에 의한 것으로 생각되었다.

오리피스 내부유동에 따른 like-doublet 인젝터의 분열 특성 (The Effects of Orifice Internal Flow on the Breakup Characteristics of Liquid Sheets Formed by Like-Doublet Injectors)

  • The breakup characteristics of liquid sheets formed by like-doublet injector were investigated in the cold-flow and atmospheric ambient pressure condition. The sheet breakup wavelength, which induces the sheet to be broken into ligaments, as well as the sheet breakup length, which is important for the flame location, was measured using a stroboscopic light. The liquid ligaments are formed intermittently after the breakup of sheet, and the wavelength of ligaments has been believed to have a relation to the combustion instability of liquid rocket engine. Therefore, the wavelength of ligaments and the breakup length of ligaments into fine drops were also measured. Since these spray characteristics are affected by the flow characteristics of two liquid jets before they impinge on each other, we focused on the effects of orifice internal flow such as the cavitation phenomenon that occurs inside the sharp-edged orifice. From the experimental results, we found that the liquid jet turbulence delays the sheet breakup and makes shorter wavelengths for both sheets and ligaments. Since the turbulent strength of sharp-edged orifice is stronger than that of round-edged orifice, the shape of orifice entrance results in large differences in the spray characteristics. Using these results, we proposed empirical models on the spray characteristics of the like-doublet injector, and these models are believed to provide some useful and actual data for designing liquid rocket combustors.

유화연료의 분사압력이 연소특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Injection Pressure of Water-in-Oil Emulsified Fuel on the Combustion Characteristics)

  • This study was carried on the combustion characteristics of a pure light oil and emulsified fuels at high-pressure injection in a spray combustion installation, The volume fractions of water in an emulsion were varied up to 30% and the injection pressures were 7.5, 100, 200, and $300kg_f/cm^2$. The concentrations of NOx and the average temperatures of flame were measured. And Images of OH radical using ICCD camera and instantaneous schlieren photography of flames were photographed. It was found that the temperature distribution of axial distance in the emulsified fuels was increased in the upstream and decreased in the down stream. The temperature distribution of radial distance was high at the peripheral regions of the spray in the upstream and at the central regions of spray in the downstream, The intensity of OH radical was denser at the water content 10% than at the pure light oil over the injection pressure $200kg_f/cm^2$.

Effect of the Raw Material and Coating Process Conditions on the Densification of 8 wt% Y2O3-ZrO2 Thermal Barrier Coating by Atmospheric Plasma Spray

  • The 8 wt% yttria($Y_2O_3$) stabilized zirconia ($ZrO_2$), 8YSZ, a typical thermal barrier coating (TBC) for turbine systems, was fabricated under different starting powder conditions and coating parameters by atmospheric plasma spray (APS) coating process. Four different starting powders were prepared by conventional spray dry method with different additive and process parameter conditions. As a result, large- and small-size spherical-type particles and Donut-type particles were obtained. Dense structure of 8YSZ coating was produced when small size spherical-type or Donut-type particles were used. On the other hand, 8YSZ coating with a porous structure was formed from large-size spherical-type particles. Furthermore, a segmented coating structure with vertical cracks was observed after post heat treatment on the surface of dense structured coating by argon plasma flame at an appropriate gun distance and power condition.

보올형상과 선회비에 따른 디젤기관 실린더내의 유동장 해석 (Calculation of the flow field in the cylinder of the diesel engine for different bowl shapes and swirl ratios)

  • There are many factors which influence on the performance of a diesel engine. The piston bowl shape and swirl ratio are important factors to enhance the fuel-air mixing and flame propagation. In this study, calculations of the flow field in the cylinder of the diesel engine were carried out using the CONCHAS-SPRAY code for different bowl shapes and swirl ratios. In the case of constant swirl ratio, vortices which affect fuel-air mixing, evaporation and flame propagation are generated more strongly and consistently in the bowl-piston type combustion chamber than in the flat piston type. With this strong squish effect, injected fuel droplets are widely diffused and rapidly evaporated in the bowl-piston type combustion chamber. Especially a strong squish is developed and large and strong vortices are generated in the edge cutted bowl piston chamber. As the swirl ratio increases, it is found that a large and strong squish and vortices are generated in the combustion chamber and also fuel droplets are diffused into the entire combustion chamber.

가솔린 연료의 기화율 변화에 따른 연소 특성에 관한 기초 연구 (A study on the combustion characteristics according to evaporation rate of gasoline)

  • The present study systematically investigates the effect of evaporation rate on the combustion characteristics and the flame stabilization in a gasoline engine. A constant volume combustion chamber was used to elucidate a basic combustion characteristics and the premixer was installed to control temperature and equivalence ratio. And the maximum pressure, combustion duration and flame propagation according to the evaporation rate were measured to determine the optimal temperature range for evaparating a gasoline fuel. These experimental results indicate that the combustion characteristics such as combustion chamber pressure and combustion duration were deteriorated by decreasing surrounding temperature of fuel injected. It was also found that the overall gasification process for gasoline fuel was strongly influenced by a combustion chamber temperature rather than a premixer temperature.

  • An optical single cylinder diesel engine equipped with a common-rail injection system has been built to investigate diesel combustion and emission characteristics. Three optical widows (piston crown quartz for bottom view of the cylinder, upper piston quartz for allowing laser sheet and liner quartz for side view) have been placed in the optical engine to visualize spray characteristics and combustion process inside the cylinder. Before doing further research using various optical diagnostics with the optical engine, fundamental combustion experiments and flame visualization incorporating a high speed motion analyser have been carried out with a wide range of engine operating conditions.
