  • The purpose of this study is the development of the simple and precise determination method of ethyl isocyanate (EIC) and propyl isocyanate (PIC) through derivatization using secondary aliphatic amines by gas chromatography with flame ionization detector. The urea derivatives are quantitatively and simultaneously derived from EIC and PIC with secondary aliphatic amines such as dipropylamine, dibutylamine. and dipentylamine in methylene chloride, and confirmed by thin layer chromatography and gas chromatography with mass selective detector. For GC/FID, according to the increasing carbon atom of the amines, the retention time and peak area of the urea derivatives are increased. The instrumental detection limits for EIC and PIC were about 23.3∼34.8 $\mu\textrm{g}$ and 21.6∼28.9 $\mu\textrm{g}$, respectively.

  • Lipid composition of human milk samples (ten colostrum and 10 mature) was analyzed by quantitative thin-layer chromatography with flame ionization detector. Six kinds of lipid components existed in human milk. Among them, triglyceride which was most abundant lipid component showed significantly lower levels in colostrum than in mature milk. Other lipid components have no significant differences between colostrum and mature milk.

  • The Korean Euodia daniellii $H_{EMSLEY}$ seed oil of triglyceride composition were analysed by thinchrography. Responses of sterol, triglyceride, sterol ester and acetate on a thin layer chromatographic apparatus, which was equipped with a flame ionization detector were determined. It was found that thinchrography is very superior and convenient means for the estimation of seed oil triglyceride compositions. The triglyceride compositions were tripalmitin 7.3%, tristearin 1.8%, triolein 21.1%, trilinolein 32.9%, trilinolenin 33.4% and unknown 3.5% in the case of Euodia daniellii seed oil in Korea.

  • The content analysis of fatty acids in Perilla cultivars and commercial oils is conducted through gas chromatography with a flame ionization detector. Results show that Perilla cultivars, such as Deulsaem and Daesil, contain high amounts of ${\alpha}-linolenic$ acid (262.22 and 261.97 mg/g, respectively). Among commercial oils, Perilla oil contains a higher amount of ${\alpha}-linolenic$ acid (515.20 mg/g). Accordingly, ${\alpha}-linolenic$ acid is a major fatty acid of Perilla cultivars and oil. Therefore, Perilla cultivars could be used as a food supplement for nutritional and pharmaceutical purposes.

  • In this paper, the fuel transport characteristics during transient condition was studied by using a Fast Response Flame Ionization Detector(FRFID). The quantitative measurement method for the inducted fuel mass into cylinder is studied. The inducted fuel mass into the cylinder was estimated by using calculated air-fuel ratio by hydrocarbon concentration of cylinder and air flow model. In order to estimate the transportation of injected fuel from the intake port into cylinder, the wall wetting fuel model was used. The two coefficient $\alpha$,$\beta$) of the wall-wetting fuel model was determined from the measured fuel mass that was inducted into the cylinder at the first cycle after injection cut-off To reduce an air/fuel ratio fluctuation during rapid throttle opening, the appropriate fuel injection rate was obtain from the wall wetting model with empirical coefficients. Result of air/fuel ratio control, air/fuel excursion was reduced.

  • During the SI engine starting up, starting conditions directly contribute to the unburned hydrocarbon emissions in spark ignition engines. The effects of catalyst temperatures and fuel injection skip methods on HC emissions were investigated. The test was conducted on a 1.5 L, 4-cylinder, 16 valve, multipoint-port-fuel-injection gasoline engine. To understand the formation of HC emissions, HC concentration was measured in an exhaust port using a Fast Response Flame ionization Detector (FRFID). The result showed that HC emissions, which were emitted at the cold coolant and catalyst temperature, were generated much higher than those of hot coolant and catalyst temperatures. In additions, fuel injection skips reduced highly HC emissions. It is convinced that optimized fuel injection skip method according to coolant and catalyst temperatures could be applied to reduce HC emissions during the SI engine starts.

  • Objectives : To compare limonene, menthone and pulegone content from different part of Schizonepeta tenuifolia Briquet. Methods : The quantitative content of essential oil was determined according to the method of Chinese Pharmacopoeia. GC analysis of essential oil was carried out using a flame ionization detector. The results obtained were confirmed by GC/MS. Results : The content of essential was high on the leaf part. The content of menthone was higher than other ingredients. When compare the content observed by harvesting time, the highest pick was shown on middle of August. Conclusion : This research can be used to modify or feedbackthe article in the Korean Pharmacopoeia.

  • Engine-out HC emissions were investigated during engine start. The tests were conducted on a 1.5L, 4-cylinder, 16 valve, multipoint-port-fuel-injection gasoline engine at different coolant temperatures and fuel injection-skip methods; no skip, 1 cycle-skip and 3 cycle-skip. To understand the characteristics of engine-out HC emissions, HC concentration was measured at a exhaust port using a Fast Response Flame Ionization Detector (FRFID). The result show that HC emissions were emitted at the cold coolant temperature much higher than those of the hot coolant. In additions, the fuel injection skip highly reduced engine-out HC emissions. • The simple and accurate method was established for the simultaneous determination of (-)-menthone and (-)-menthol in Menthae herba obtained from Korea and China. A quantitative analysis was performed with a gas chromatography-flame ionization detector and reference compounds were separated on a capillary HP-Innowax column (30 m $\times$ 0.23 mm, 0.50 ${\mu}m$, Agilent, MA, USA). The correlation coefficients of the compounds showed good linearity ($r^2$ > 0.9997) over the linear range. The precision, repeatability and stability showed less than 1.7% of relative standard deviation (RSD) values for two compounds. Recovery rates were within the range of 95.72 - 103.76%. The method was applied successfully to analyze 15 samples of Menthae herba and achieved sufficient and specific separation of reference compounds. The principal component analysis (PCA) exhibited the classification of 15 samples according to their locations of origin.

  • The soild phase microextraction(SPME)fiber which contains 100${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ polydimethyl siloxane of a stationary phase was used for the analysis of volatile organic compounds contained in aqueous solution. volatile organic compounds, which were spiked in blank water and extracted by the headspace SPME techique, were analyzed by gas chromatography/flame ionization detector(GC/FID). The optimu condition of SPME fiber is determined that the analytes were extracted for 40min from extracts by using PDAfS100${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ fiber. This new method could have wide application for the analysis of VOCs in aqueous solution.
