A Numerical Experiment of the effect of Coastline Geometry on the Upwelling along the East Coast of Korea (韓國東岸 沿岸線形態가 湧昇에 미치는 影響에 관한 數値實驗)

  • A numerical experiment was carried out on thee wind-induced coastal upwelling along the east coast of Korea. Only the variability in coastline geometry is considered and an attempt is made to correlate it with the observation previously performed. In order to approximate the coastline geometry as closely as possible, the finite element method with linear triangular grid is employed. Among several fixed locations of upwelling center found in the model, the one in the southeastern coastal area seems to be just what has been observed most frequently.

  • 공간 데이터베이스에서 효율적으로 공간 질의를 처리하기 위해서는 클러스터링을 통해서 이스크 접근 비용을 줄이는 것이 필요하다. 이 논문은 공간 지역성에 기반을 둔 여러 가지 클러스터링 알고리즘을 제안하고 실험을 통해 제안한 클러스터링 알고리즘의 성능을 평가하였다. 이 논문에서 제안하는 클러스터링 알고리즘은 객체 클러스터링 알고리즘과 셀 클러스터링 알고리즘으로 나뉜다. 객체 클러스터링 알고리즘은 정규 준할 공간 색인 구조에서 영역 분할 선과 겹치는 객체들의 저장 위치를 결정하는데 사용된다. 셀 클러스터링 알고리즘은 클러스터를 만들기 위해 정규 분할된 영역들을 그룹화하는데 사용된다. 실험결과 객체 클러스터링 알고리즘에서는 객체간의 거리를 이용한 경우에 대체로 좋은 성능을 보였지만, 버퍼 크기가 커지거나 데이터가 희박한 영역의 질의에 있어서는 알고리즘 별로 성능의 차이는 거의 없었다. 셀 클러스터링 알고리즘에 대한 실험에서는 이 논문에서 제안한 클러스터링 알고리즘은 N-순서화 기법에 의한 클러스터링 알고리즘에 비해 우수한 성능을 보였다. 특히 중복 참조도를 이용한 경우와 셀의 무게 중심간 거리를 이용한 방법이 가장 우수하였다.

Comparison of Operating Characteristics for DFIG and FSIG wind Turbine Systems with Respect to Variable Interconnecting Line Conditions (연계선로의 조건 변화에 따른 DFIG와 FSIG 풍력발전시스템의 운전특성 비교)

  • This paper analyzes the steady-state output characteristics of variable-speed wind turbine systems using doubly-fed induction generators(DFIG) compared with fixed-speed induction generator(FSIG) wind turbine systems. It also presents simulations of a grid-connected wind turbine generation system for dynamics analysis on MATLAB/Simulink and compares the responses between DFIG and FSIG wind turbine systems with respect to wind speed variation, impedance changes and X/R ratio changes of interconnecting circuits. Simulation results show the variation of generator's active output, terminal voltage and fault currents at the interconnecting point. Case studies demonstrate that DFIG wind turbine systems illustrate better performance to 3-phase fault than FSIG's.

  • 최근 들어 이동 통신 서비스에서 이동하는 고객의 위치 정보와 관련된 서비스가 중요한 서비스로 부각되고 있다. 이동객체의 경우 갱신 연산이 많고, 부하가 특정 지역에 집중되는 특징이 있다. 이러한 위치 기반 서비스에서 범위질의는 중요한 질의 중 하나이다. 범위 질의는 윈도우나 원 형태로 수행되는데 윈도우의 경우에는 질의 범위 밖에 해당하는 객체를 쉽게 필터링 할 수 있는 반면 원 형태일 경우에는 대부분의 경우 거리 계산을 해야 하는 불편함이 있다. 본 논문에서는 객체의 위치 갱신 연산에 따른 인덱스 구조의 변화를 최소화하기 위해 고정 그리드 방식을 사용하고 VP 필터링 기법을 적용하여 원 범위 질의에서 범위 밖의 객체를 필터링하기 위한 방법을 제시한다.

  • In adaptive fuzzy control, fuzzy systems are used to approximate the unknown plant nonlinearities. Until now, most of the papers in the field of controller design for nonlinear system using fuzzy systems considers the affine system with fixed grid-rule structure. This paper considers general nonlinear systems and dynamic fuzzy rule structure. Adaptive laws for fuzzy parameters and fuzzy rule structrue are established so that the whole system is stable in the sense of Lyapunov.

  • Effect of computational domain size in simulating of periodic obstacle flow has been investigated for the flow past tube banks. Reynolds number, defined by freestream velocity (U) and cylinder diameter (d), was fixed as 200, and center-to-center distance (P) as 1.5d. In-line square array was considered. Drag coefficient, lift coefficient and Strouhal number were calculated depending on domain size. Circular cylinders were implemented on a Cartesian grid system by using an immersed boundary method. Boundary condition is periodic in both streamwise and lateral directions. Previous studies in literature often use a square domain with a side length of P, which contains only one cylinder. However, this study reveals that size is improper. Especially, RMS values of flow-induced forces are most sensitive to the domain size.

  • In this paper, the rigid lid boundary condition is applied to simulate the influence of floating structures such as ships or pontoons, and the pressure term in both the momentum equations and continuity equation are modified. The pressure of a floating structure under the free surface is dependent on the draft of the structure, generally called a ship. If the free surface is covered by a floating structure, the free surface cannot move freely. The water level should be fixed, using a rigid lid boundary condition. This boundary condition is implemented by reducing the storage area of the grid cell with a factor between zero and one. The numerical model developed by Hong (2009) is verified through a comparison with experimental results, and the influence of the reduction factor is investigated using the verified numerical model.

  • The generation of electric power using self excited induction generation (SEIG) is a viable option in remote and rural areas where grid electricity is not available. The generated voltage and frequency of these machines, however, varies with varying loads. This characteristic can be resolved either by adjusting the values of the excitation capacitance or by controlling the prime mover speed. Further, in a single-point constant power application, where the machines deliver a fixed amount of power, the electronic load controller (ELC) can be used to switch-in or switch-out a dump load whenever the consumer load decreases or increases respectively. This paper presents a detailed analysis and the design of a microcontroller based SEIG -ELC system intended for stand-alone pico hydro power generation. The simulated performance of the controller is supplemented by experimental results.

  • The wind force development system is applying variableness inside system recently. High-capacity system performs blade pitch check and main point check, but because pitch angle is fixed in case of capacity system, development efficiency drops. Must do to achieve variableness inside control about change of manners to be acted in maximum electric power point hereupon. Treatise that see hereupon proves this theoretically, and proved validity through 400 [W] experiments.

Performance Analysis of a Dolphin-tail Rudder

  • As a part of numerical and experimental research works for the prediction and improvement of ship's maneuvering performance, a study on the performance analysis of two different rudders has been carried out. While the planform shape and the aspect ratio of the rudders have been fixed, section shape has been changed. Conventional type of HMRI NP section and special type of dolphin-tail section have been employed. Performances of the rudders have been investigated by using CFD and compared with experimental data obtained in a wind tunnel. A commercial CFD program has been used to solve the RANS equations. Two-equation k-ro model has been applied to close the governing equations. Block-structured grids are used in the numerical calculation. Based upon the calculation results, the rudder with dolphin-tail section has shown a possibility of significantly improving rudder performance if utilized as the section of ship rudders.
