A global ultrasonic sensor system for self-localization of an indoor mobile robot is proposed in this paper. By the global ultrasonic sensor system, it is meant several ultrasonic transmitters fixed at some positions in the world coordinate and the receiver in the moving coordinate of a mobile robot. In order to achieve the synchronization between an ultrasonic transmitter and receiver and to avoid the crosstalk among the ultrasonic transmitters, simple radio frequency transmitters and receivers are adopted. Experiments are carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed ultrasonic sensor system.
This paper presents the results of research on hardware and software of the landmark tracking system to the positions of moving robot in real time. The landmark tracking system is composed of CCD camera, landmark, strobo system and image processing board. The algorithm calculates the position and direction by using the coordinate transformation fomula after calculating the centroid and rotation angle of landmark at fixed position using the image data. The experiment is performed with landmark tracking system is loaded on xyz-table. XYZ-table is used for identifying the true position in our experiment. The results shows that this system has high performance with maxima error of .+-.1 pixels.
Regarding previously-developed drone simulators, it was easy to check their flight stability or controlling functions based on the condition that their weight was fixed from the design. However, the drone is largely classified into two types that is the one with the fixed weight whose purpose is recording video with camera and racing and another is whole weight-variable during flight with loading the articles for delivery and spraying pesticide though the weight of airframe is fixed. The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the structure of drone and its flight principle, suggest dynamics-model-based simulator that is capable of simulating weight-variable drone and develop the simulator that can be used for designing main control board, motor and transmission along the application of weight-variable drone. Weight-variable simulator was developed by using various calculation to apply flying method of drone to the simulator. First, ground coordinate system and airframe-fixing coordinate system were established and switching matrix of those two coordinates were made. Then, dynamics model of drone was established using the law of Newton and moment balance principle. Dynamics model was established in Simulink platform and simulation experiment was carried out by changing the weight of drone. In order to evaluate the validity of developed weight-variable simulator, it was compared to the results of clean flight public simulator against existing weight-fixed drone. Lastly, simulation test was performed with the developed weight-variable simulation by changing the weight of drone. It was found out that dynamics model controlled various flying positions of drone well from simulation and the possibility of securing the optimum condition of weight-variable drone that has flying stability and easiness of controlling.

This paper presents some of the efforts by the authors towards numerical prediction of springing of ships. A time-domain Higher Order Boundary Element Method (HOBEM) based on cubic shape function is first presented to solve a complete second-order problem in terms of wave steepness and ship motions in a consistent manner. In order to avoid high order derivatives on the body surfaces, e.g. mj-terms, a new formulation of the Boundary Value Problem in a body-fixed coordinate system has been proposed instead of traditional formulation in inertial coordinate system. The local steady flow effects on the unsteady waves are taken into account. Double-body flow is used as the basis flow which is an appropriate approximation for ships with moderate forward speed. This numerical model was used to estimate the complete second order wave excitation of springing of a displacement ship at constant forward speeds.
This paper describes a static gait generation process and a mechanical design process of leg mechanisms for quadruped robots. Actually robot walking is realized with the joint motion of leg mechanisms. In order to calculate the time-angle trajectories for each joint of leg mechanisms, we generate end-tip trajectories with time for each leg in the global inertial coordinate system intuitively, followed by coordinate transformations of the trajectories into the local coordinates system fixed in each leg, finally the angle-time trajectories of each joint of leg mechanisms are obtained with inverse kinematics. The stability of the gait generated in this paper was verified by a multi-body dynamic analysis using the commercial software $ADAMS^{(R)}$. Additionally the mechanical specifications such as gear reduction ratio, electrical specifications of motor and electrical power consumption during walking have been confirmed by the multi-body dynamic analysis. Finally we constructed a small quadruped robot and confirmed the gait.
The purpose of this study was to determine the kinematic characteristics of the ankle joint and RPM(repetition per minutes) during the supra maximal training in cycling. For this study, 8 national representative cyclists, distance cyclists in track and road, were selected. During the super-maximum pedalling, kinematic data were collected using a six-camera(240Hz) Qualisys system. the room coordinate system was right-handed and fixed in the back of a roller for cycle, with right-handed orthogonal segment coordinate systems defined for the leg and foot. Lateral kinematic data were recorded at least for 3 minutes while the participants pedal on a roller. Two-dimensional Cartesian coordinates for each marker were determined at the time of recording using a nonlinear transformation technique. Coordinate data were low-pass filtered using a fourth-order Butterworth recursive filter with cutoff frequency of 15Hz. Variables analyzed in this study were compared using a one factor(time) ANOVA with repeated measures. The results of investigation suggest that the number of rotating pedal was decreased with time phase during the super-maximum pedaling. Maximum angle of the ankle joint showed little in change with time phase compared with minimum angle of that.
A numerical procedure is described for predicting the motion and structural responses of tension leg platforms(TLPs) in waves. The developed numerical approach is based on a combination of a three dimensional source distribution method and the dynamic response analysis method, in which the superstructure of TLPs is assumed to be flexible instead of rigid. Restoring forces by hydrostatic pressure on the submerged surface of a TLP have been accurately calculated by excluding the assumption of the slender body theory. The hydrodynamic interactions among TLP members, such as columns and pontoons, and the structural damping are included in the motion and structural analysis. The equations of motion of a whole structure are formulated using element-fixed coordinate systems which have the orgin at the nodes of the each hull element and move parallel to a space-fixed coordinate system. Numerical results are compared with the experimental and numerical ones, which are obtained in the literature, concerning the motion and structural responses of a TLP in waves. The results of comparison confirmed the validity of the proposed approach.
In this study, using the commercial software Bladed developed by DNV for integrated load calculation of wind turbines, the generation of seismic waves according to soil type based on Korea's domestic regulations, and load calculation considering earthquake conditions were performed according to the IEC standard, and load in the main coordinate system of the fixed offshore wind turbine was calculated. By comparing the calculated load with the design load of the fixed offshore wind turbine, the effect of earthquake loads according to soil type on the main components of fixed offshore wind turbines was evaluated. As a result of the evaluation, when an earthquake load on a wind turbine is considered, the effect of the earthquake load is related to the natural frequency of the major components and the magnitude of the adjacent acceleration in the earthquake response spectrum, and the earthquake load differs according to soil type and may exceed the design load.
Sensor localization has become an essential requirement for realistic applications over wireless sensor networks (WSN). In this paper we propose an ad hoc localization algorithm that is infrastructure-free, anchor-free, and computationally efficient with reduced communication. A novel combination of distance and direction estimation technique is introduced to detect and estimate ranges between neighbors. Using this information we construct unidirectional coordinate systems to avoid the reflection ambiguity. We then compute node positions using a transformation matrix [T], which reduces the computational complexity of the localization algorithm while computing positions relative to the fixed coordinate system. Simulation results have shown that at a node degree of 9 we get $90\%$ localization with $20\%$ average localization error without using any error refining schemes.
