  • In order to reduce the time and costs of improving the performance of vehicle suspensions, the techniques for optimizing damping and air spring characteristic were proposed. A full vehicle model for a bus is constructed with a car body, front and rear suspension linkages, air springs, dampers, tires, and a steering system. An air spring and a damper are modeled with nonlinear characteristics using experimental data and a curve fitting technique. The objective function for ride quality is WRMS (Weighted RMS) of the power spectral density of the vertical acceleration at the driver's seat, middle seat and rear seat. The objective function for handling performance is the RMS (Root Mean Squares) of the roll angle, roll rate, yaw rate, and lateral acceleration at the center of gravity of a body during a lane change. The design variables are determined by damping coefficients, damping exponents and curve fitting parameters of air spring characteristic curves. The Taguchi method is used in order to investigate sensitivity of design variables. Since ride and handling performances are mutually conflicting characteristics, the validity of the developed optimum design procedure is demonstrated by comparing the trends of ride and handling performance indices with respect to the ratio of weighting factors. The global criterion method is proposed to obtain the solution of multi-objective optimization problem.

  • In this paper, we will discuss the characteristics of the magnitude and the phase of the piano sound in frequency domain by using the FFT(Fast Fourier Transform). The method deciding the parameters representing those sounds through the mathematical model is described. We used the curve fitting method for the modeling of the harmonic part of the sound including the fundamental frequency in order to minimize the errors between original sounds and modeled sounds. furthermore, we used the line segment approximation method for the modeling of the noise part around fundamental frequency. We also applied the same method for the phase model and could get the modeled sound to be similar to the original sound using the parameters. Therefore the high compression ratio comparing the modeled sound to the original sound is achieved.

  • An aircraft fuel hose is a kind of high pressure hose, and generally consists of a nipple, a socket, an inner tube, and a reinforcement layer to increase the tensile strength. Especially the nipple supports the other components in manufacturing stages such as the swaging or crimping processes however, the nipple also serves to prevent leakage in cases of hose engagement with a hydraulic system. To ensure the seal of the hose assembly, a beam seal fitting with metal-to-metal contact is usually adopted at the end of a nipple. Therefore, the geometry of the beam is an important parameter to be determined to make sure there is sufficient contact force. This study aims to investigate the effects of beam seal geometry on the contact force by changing the inclined angle and the thickness of the beam. The results reveal that the proper thickness and inclined angle of the beam seal are 0.45 mm and $8.5^{\circ}$, respectively.

  • Three-dimensional virtual fitting has become a trending practice in the fashion industry because of its productivity benefits, allowing garments to be virtually worn by avatar models without physical production. This study analyzed the variables influencing clothing pressure in both real and virtual fittings to expand the potential utility of pressure data derived from the latter. For this purpose, six sets of compression garments were created by combining two types of tricot fabrics and three types of reduced-pattern tops, with the clothing for real and virtual fittings having identical dimensions. Focus was directed to analyzing the correlation among clothing pressure, surface area deformation, and the mechanical properties of the fabrics. In real fittings, clothing pressure was influenced by multiple factors, including garment design, pattern reduction ratio, body shape, and fabric properties, consistent with existing knowledge. In virtual fittings, however, only the digital mechanical characteristics of the fabrics significantly influenced clothing pressure. The findings suggest that a more reliable implementation of clothing pressure in virtual fitting programs necessitates an approach that considers the complex structural information of garments.

  • As device dimensions are lastly scaled down, impact ionization(I.I.) events are very important to analyze hot carrier transport in high energy region, and the exact model of impact ionization is demanded on device simulation. We calculate full band model by empirical pseudopotential method and the impact ionization rate is derived from modified Keldysh formula. We calculate impact ionization coefficients by full band Monte Carlo simulator to investigate temperature dependent characteristics of impact ionization for GaAs as a function of field. Resultly impact ionization coefficients are in good agreement with experimental values at look. We how energy is increasing along increasing the field, while energy is decreasing along increasing the temperature since the phonon scattering rates for emission mode are very high at high temperature. The logarithmic fitting function of impact ionization coefficients is described as a second orders function of temperature and field. The residuals of the logarithmic fitting function are mostly within 5%. We Dow, therefore, the logarithm of impact ionization coefficients has quadratic dependence on temperature, and we can save time of calculating the temperature dependent impact ionization coefncients as a function of field.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop bodice basic patterns fitted on different body types of adult women. To meet this purpose, first, human bodies were measured using tight fitting technique and classified based on the shapes of upper trunk. The subjects were 214 women $20{\sim}39$ years of age. For the measurement of female upper trunk, tight fitting technique was utilized. The development of figures of upper trunks were obtained from women. These development of figures were then digitized and analysed using the PAD system. A total of 155 measurements were taken from each of the development of figures. then, 32 measurements were selected for the further analysis. As complimentary data, 22 direct body measurements using an anthropometric method and 23 body measurements using a photographic method from the side view pictures of the participants were also obtained. The results and discussions of this study are as follows: Using the body measurements from the development of figures, a factor analysis and a cluster analysis were conducted. As a result, the body types were classified into 5 different types, which differ in terms of bust volumes, shoulder slopes, shoulder tilts, back silhouettes, body axises. The prominent characteristics of each type are as follows: The first type has a large bust volume. The second type has a right figure. The third type has a rounded back silhouette. The fourth type has a back silhouette of scapular coming backward. Finally the fifth type has a shoulder tilted forward.

  • Geotechnical design routinely requires that in-situ strength, stiffness of the ground be determined. In the working stress conditions, the strain level in a ground experienced by existing structures and during construction is less than about 0.1%~1%. In order to analyze the deformational behavior accurately, the in-situ testing technique which provides the reliable deformational characteristics at small strains, needs to be developed. Cone pressuremeter tests were performed on the western off-shore region of korea, and analyzed using cavity expansion theory and curve fitting technique to obtain the shear modulus at small strain level of $10^{-1}%$. The value of $E_u/S_u$ ratio for the marine clay shows about 589 at the small strain. However the value of $E_u/S_u$ estimated by lab tests are much smaller values ranged from 81 to 91. It is indicated that the curve fitting technique from CPM tests results can be used to obtain the shear modulus at small strain.

  • An additive noise reduction algorithm for a mass spectrum analyzer is proposed. From the measured ion signal, we first used an estimated threshold from the mode of the measured signal to eliminate background noises with the white Gaussian characteristics. Also, a signal block corresponding to each mass index is constructed to perform a second order curve fitting and a linear approximation to signal block. In this process, the effective signal block composed of only the ion signal can be reconstructed by removing the impulsive noises and the sample signals which are insufficient to be viewed as normal ion signals. By performing curve fitting on the effective signal block, the noise-free mass spectrum can be obtained. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, a simulation was performed using the signals acquired from the development equipment. Simulation results show the validity of the threshold setting from the mode and the superiority of the proposed curve fitting and linear approximation based noise canceling algorithm.

  • The creep characteristics of rock is of great significance for the study of long-term stability of engineering, so it is necessary to carry out indoor creep test and creep model of rock. First of all, in different water-bearing state and different positive pressure conditions, the granite is graded loaded to conduct indoor shear creep test. Through the test, the shear creep characteristics of granite are obtained. According to the test results, the stress-strain isochronous curve is obtained, and then the long-term strength of granite under different conditions is determined. Then, the fractional-order calculus software element is introduced, and it is connected in series with the spring element and the nonlinear viscoplastic body considering the creep acceleration start time to form a nonlinear viscoplastic creep model with fewer elements and fewer parameters. Finally, based on the shear creep test data of granite, using the nonlinear curve fitting of Origin software and Levenberg-Marquardt optimization algorithm, the parameter fitting and comparative analysis of the nonlinear creep model are carried out. The results show that the test data and the model curve have a high degree of fitting, which further explains the rationality and applicability of the established nonlinear visco-elastoplastic creep model. The research in this paper can provide certain reference significance and reference value for the study of nonlinear creep model of rock in the future.
