  • A pagurid hermit crab Catapaguroides fragilis was collected in Jeju Island, and described as new to the Korean fauna. It is the first member of the genus Catapaguroides known from Korea. Morphological descriptions of C. fragilis are presented with illustrations.

  • One specimen of Epinephelus areolatus, belonging to the subfamily Epinephelinae of the family Serranidae, was collected by a hook from commercial longline fisheries in the coastal waters of Jeju Island, Korea. This species is mostly similar to E. chlorostigma, but the former is distinguished from the latter by having larger brown spots and a white posterior margin on the caudal fin. We propose a new Korean name "Dae-moon-ba-ri" for E. areolatus.

  • Desmotimmia mirabilis (Timm), a rarely known desmoscolecid nematode species, was discovered for the first time from the Yellow Sea off southwestern coast of Korea. This is the third record of the species, and the first report from the northwestern Pacific region. Redescription is prepared on the basis of a male specimen from South Korea.

  • Three Ovulid species collected from Jeju Island were identified as Habuprionovolva aenigma (Azuma & Cate, 1971), Habuprionovolva basilia (Cate, 1978) and Diminovula kosugei (Cate, 1973). This is the first record from the Korean waters, providing a description of the species with illustration for the shell morphology.

  • We present the first record of Sinorchestia sinensis (Chilton, 1925), the sandhopper, in Korea. This species was collected from the Baengnyeongdo Island of Korea. Descriptions of diagnostic characters of the species are provided on the text. A key to the species of Sinorchestia is provided.

  • A maritime pseudo scorpion Garypus japonicus Beier, 1952 collected from Dokdo Island in the East Sea of Korea is reported and illustrated, which is the first record in Korea. The family Garypidae is also newly recorded in Korea. G. japonicus has been known only from Japan by Beier (1952) so far. Through the present study, its distributional range is extended to Korea.

  • Menziesia sebastodis (Capsalidae: Monogenea) is found and described from the gill filaments and the gill rakers of the black rockfish, Sebastes inermis, caught at Dolsan Island, off the south coast of Yeosu, Jeollanam-do, Korea. The genus Menziesia is distinguished from other related genera Benedenia, Megalobenedenia and Trochopus, by septate haptors and the morphology of copulatory organs. M. sebastodis can be differentiated from other Menziesia species by the longer and slenderer posterior anchor, and the location of accessory gland reservoir. This is the first record of the genus Menziesia in Korea.

  • In this paper, general classes of continuous distributions are characterized by considering the conditional expectations of functions of upper record statistics. The specific distribution considered as a particular case of the general class of distribution are Exponential, Exponential Power(EP), Inverse Weibull, Beta Gumbel, Modified Weibull(MW), Weibull, Pareto, Power, Singh-Maddala, Gumbel, Rayleigh, Gompertz, Extream value 1, Beta of the first kind, Beta of the second kind and Lomax.
