In this paper, we compare the quality of images reconstructed by a conventional delayed-sum (DS) algorithm and radiation pattern-based DS algorithm. In order to evaluate the quality of images, we apply the target-to-clutter ratio (TCR), which is commonly used in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image assessment. The radiation pattern-based DS algorithm enhances the TCR of the image by focusing the target signals and preventing contamination of the radar scene. We first consider synthetic data obtained through GprMax2D/3D, a finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) forward solver. Experimental data of a 2-GHz bandwidth stepped-frequency signal are collected using a vector network analyzer (VNA) in an anechoic chamber setup. The radiation pattern-based DS algorithm shows a 6.7-dB higher TCR compared to the conventional DS algorithm.
In a conventional speed sensorless stator flux-oriented(SFO) induction motor drive system, when the estimated speed is transformed into the sample-data model using the first-forward difference approximation, the sampled data model has a modeling error which, in turn, produces an error in the rotor speed estimation. The error included in the estimated speed is removed by the use of a low pass filter (LPF). As the result, the delay of the estimated speed occurs in transients by the use of the LPF This paper investigates the problem of a conventional speed sensorless SFO system due to the delay of estimated speed in the filed weakening region. In addition, this paper proposes a method to estimate exactly speed by using Luenberger observer, The proposed method is verified by experiment with a 5-hp induction motor drive.
An accurate particle tracking method for a finite difference method model is developed using a constant acceleration method. Being assumed constant temporal and spatial gradients, the new method permits temporal-spatial variability of particle velocity. Test results in a solid rotating flow show that the new method has second-order accuracy. The performance of the new method is compared with that of other methods; the first-order Euler forward method, and the second-order Euler predictor-corrector method. The new method is the most efficient method among the three. It is more accurate and efficient than the other two.
This paper proposes a linear model predictive control of 6-DOF remotely operated underwater vehicles using nonlinear robust internal-loop compensator (NRIC). First, we design a integrator embedded linear model prediction controller for a linear nominal model, and then let the real model follow the values calculated through forward dynamics. This work is carried out through an NRIC and in this process, modeling errors and external disturbance are compensated. This concept is similar to disturbance observer-based control, but it has the difference that H∞ optimality is guaranteed. Finally, tracking results at trajectory containing the velocity discontinuity point and the position tracking performance in the disturbance environment is confirmed through the comparative study with a traditional inverse dynamics PD controller.
Background: The first purpose of this study is to compare the clinical and radiological outcomes of surgical treatment for displaced midshaft clavicle fracture (Robinson type 2B1 vs. 2B2) with 3.5-mm low profile clavicular locking compression plate. The second purpose is to evaluate the difference of the results depending on the presence of accompanying injuries. Methods: Forty-nine patients who underwent an operation for the fractures were reviewed retrospectively. Fracture patterns were classified according to group 2B1 and 2B2 using Robinson's classification. For radiological outcome, time to union after operation was evaluated and for clinical outcome, American Shoulder and Elbow Society (ASES) score, University of California in Los Angeles (UCLA) score, visual analogue scale (VAS), and range of motion (ROM) were evaluated from preoperative period to last follow-up period. Results: The mean time for union was not significantly different in the 2B1 group and 2B2 group (p=0.062). No statistically significant difference in ASES score, UCLA score, and VAS was observed between 2B1 and 2B2 (p=0.619, p=0.896, p=0.856, respectively). In ROM, significant higher mean forward flexion and abduction was observed in 2B2 (p=0.025, p=0.017, respectively) and there was no difference in external rotation and external rotation at shoulder $90^{\circ}$ abduction position (p=0.130, p=0.180, respectively). There was no significant difference in clinical outcomes according to the accompanying injuries. Conclusions: There was no difference in clinical and radiological outcome between Robinson 2B1 and 2B2 type fracture after the operation. Accompanying injuries may not affect the clinical result of displaced midshaft clavicle fractures.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to acknowledge the effects that have the strength exercise done only on the neck extensor, only on the thoracic extensor, and both the neck and the thoracic extensor on forward head posture(FHP) and cervical range of motion. Also is to discover which of the exercise is the most effective. Method: This experiment will be done by selecting 40 people who have 16cm or more FHP and they will be divided into four groups: three experimental groups and a control group. The first experimental group will do only the neck extensor strength exercise(NESE). The second experimental group will do only the thoracic extensorstrength exercise(TESE) and the third experimental group will do both the NESE and the TESE. The experimental groups will make a day three times each ten sets of extensor isometric strength exercise but the time will be increased from 4 to 6 and8 seconds until it will be done the ten sets. Then after four weeks, they will be compared which had the best results for the FHP and the cervical range of motion. Result: After the experiment, it was compared the experimental groups with the control group. Every experimental group had an improvement on their FHP and cervical range of motion. However, the only NESE and the only TESE did not have a significantly difference(p>.05). Only the group who did both the NESE and the TESE had a sign ificantly improvement compared to the control group. Conclusion: 1. The only NESE and the only TESE seem that had a positive effect on FHP and cervical range of motion. However, it cannot be conclude that it is effective. 2. When both the NESE and the TESE are done, it is showed statistically a significant difference(p<.05) on FHP and cervical range of motion. The refore, it would be note worthy if this exercise is used to improve the FHP and the cervical range of motion.
A precise kinematic orbit determination (P-KOD) procedure for Low Earth Orbiter(LEO) using the GPS ion-free triple differenced carrier phases is presented. Because the triple differenced observables provide only relative information, the first epoch's positions of the orbit should be held fixed. Then, both forward and backward filtering was executed to mitigate the effect of biases of the first epoch's position. p-KOD utilizes the precise GPS orbits and ground stations data from International GPS Service (IGS) so that the only unknown parameters to be solved are positions of the satellite at each epoch. Currently, the 3-D accuracy off-KOD applied to CHAMP (CHAllenging Min-isatellite Payload) shows better than 35 cm compared to the published rapid scientific orbit (RSO) solution from GFZ (GeoForschungsZentrum Potsdam). The data screening for cycle slips is a particularly challenging procedure for LEO, which moves very fast in the middle of the ionospheric layer. It was found that data screening using SNR (signal to noise ratio) generates best results based on the residual analysis using RSO. It is expected that much better accuracy are achievable with refined prescreening procedure and optimized geometry of the satellites and ground stations.
Objective: To investigate the effects of ROS on kinematic parameters in human spermatozoa. To verify the changes in above parameters, human spermatozoa were incubated with xanthine-xanthine oxidase (X-XO), $H_2O_2$, sodium nitroprusside (SNP) or lymphocyte. Otherwise, spemlatozoa were incubated under low $O_2 (5%) condition. Methods: CASA was employed to analyze sperm motion parameters. Results: Under $H_2O_2 treatment, all kinematic parameters of spermatozoa were dramatically increased during 30 min, but gradually decreased thereafter. Under the low concentration of $H_2O_2 (125 ${\mu}M$ and 250 ${\mu}M$), the movement velocity (VAP, VCL, VSL) decreased, but forward movement increased. Under the 1mM $H_2O_2, sperm showed reduced kinematic parameters except during first 30 min of incubation. In the cases of X-XO and SNP treatment, the movement velocity increased but the forward movement reduced. After incubation for 3 hr treatment, the kinematic parameters gradually decreased in high concentration of X-XO. However these parameters maintained or increased in low concentration of X-XO. There was no obvious changes in the above parameters in the high concentration of SNP. In the presence of high concentration of lymphocytes, all parameters decreased. Under the 5% $O_2 condition, the parameters of the movement velocity and movement pattern increased, but forward movement decreased. Taken togethers, it suggested that ROS increased the movement velocity but decreased the forward movement and lateral head replacement. $H_2O_2, X-XO, SNP and lymphocyte treatment significantly increased capacitated spermatozoa within I h of incubation. There was no significant difference in capacitation between low- and high $O_2 group. Conclusion: The early onset of capacitation in the presence of ROS suggest that ROS might be a positive regulator of sperm capacitation and hyperactivation. These results demonstrate that low concentration ROS facilitates the movement velocity but high concentration ROS was inhibitory.
Korean traditional paper (Hanji) making technology has adopted two kinds of sheet forming processes, which called "Oebal-choji": and "Ssangbal-choji". The sheet forming process of Oebal-choji is an original method developed in Korea. At first, paper stock is dipped onto the mold and flow away in the forward direction. Then, paper stock is scooped again and rhythmically rocked from side to side, this work is repeated several times. Through this operation the fibers intertwine and paper layers are formed. Ssangbal-choji is almost same as the Nagashizuki, which used in Japan. In this method, paper stock is scooped onto the mold and rhythmically rocked backwards and forwards several times, the water drains slowly through the bamboo screen and then sheet is formed. Tamezuki method is used in Japan and China. This is a method in which the mold is dipped into the paper stock once and left to drain. In the Ssangbal-choji and Nagashizuki methods, the most of excess solution is cast out while in the Tamezuki all of it is allowed to drain through the mold. This study was carried out to investigate the physical properties of the Hanjis that were made by Oebal-choji, Ssangbal-choji, Nagashizuki, and Tamezuki sheet forming processes. The results were follows; Physical properties of the Oebal-choji Hanji were better than those of Ssangbal-choji, Nagashizuki, and Tamezuki. Oebal-choji Hanji made little difference of paper strength between MD and CD, but Ssangbal-chjo and Nagashizuki Hanjis made wide difference. And there are no difference of paper strength between MD and CD on the Tamezuki Hanji. On the confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) observation of the Hanjis, Oebal-choji made well crossed fiber orientation than those of other forming processes.r forming processes.
