This study set its bases needed for building fire risk analysis by examining general concept and definitions of fire risk analysis, and its access methods. Upon this basis, by using a computer program FREM, we brought the type of hazards out of the fire risk assessment applied to the typical 100 high-rise buildings in and out of this country. In this process, we also sorted out the programs arising from the application of a foreign born tool to domestic conditions. the credibility of fire separations and automatic fire protection system in a building would be the two most important things in an attempt to evaluate fire risk in high-rise buildings. In addition, it is vital for the purpose of securing fire safety in high-rise buildings that the systems should be properly installed and carefully maintained. When we try hard to study the evaluation standards to the above systems and, someday in the future, to employ them in evaluating fire risks in high-rise buildings, we can measure the risks much more precisely with less expenses than that we needed today.
Todays, computers in business world are potent facilitators that most companies could not without them, while they are only tools. They offer extremely efficient means of communication, particularly when connected to Internet. What I stress in this article is the risks accompanied by e-commerce rather than the advantages of Internet or e-commerce. The management of e-commerce companies, therefore, should keep in mind that the benefit of e-commerce through the Internet are accompanied by enhanced and new risks, cyber risks or e-commerce risks. For example, companies are exposed to computer system breakdown and business interruption risks owing to traditional and physical risks such as theft and fire etc, computer programming errors and defect softwares and outsider's attack such as hacking and virus. E-commerce companies are also exposed to tort liabilities owing to defamation, the infringement of intellectual property such as copyright, trademark and patent right, negligent misrepresent and breach of confidential information or privacy infringement. In this article, I would like to suggest e-commerce insurance or cyber liability insurance as a means of risk management rather than some technical devices, because there is not technically perfect defence against cyber risks. But e-commerce insurance has some gaps between risks confronted by companies and coverage needed by them, because it is at most 6 or 7 years since it has been introduced to market. Nevertheless, in my opinion, e-commerce insurance has offered the most perfect defence against cyber risks to e-commerce companies up to now.

The present article relates to an experimental study on fire risks due to overcharge and external heat of ESS lithium battery. According to the experimental results of overcharge, ignition occurred as combustible gas and smoke was slowly increased after occurrence of venting, and an explosive combustion form accompanied by flame eruption and sparks was displayed as charged energy is rapidly discharged in an instant. On the other hand, according to the experimental results of external heat, as a tremendous amount of combustible gas and smoke was ignited following being discharged after occurrence of vent, the charged energy itself was rapidly reduced due to the discharged energy so that a passive combustion form was observed when compared with overcharge after occurrence of flames. According the analysis results of fire damage characteristics, differences between external heat (External flame) could be found through visual and X-ray inspections. Namely, while inside electrode plate was completely destroyed and perforation of the electrode plate was observed in the case of overcharge, fire damage of the electrode plate was not severe maintaining the form in the case of external heat.
This paper derives the fire risk of buildings in Seoul through the prediction of property damage and the occurrence of fires. This study differs from prior research in that it utilizes variables that include not only a building's characteristics but also its affiliated administrative area as well as the accessibility of nearby fire-fighting facilities. We use Ensemble Voting techniques to merge different machine learning algorithms to predict property damage and fire occurrence, and to extract feature importance to produce fire risk. Fire risk prediction was made on 300 buildings in Seoul utilizing the established model, and it has been derived that with buildings at Level 1 for fire risks, there were a high number of households occupying the building, and the buildings had many factors that could contribute to increasing the size of the fire, including the lack of nearby fire-fighting facilities as well as the far location of the 119 Safety Center. On the other hand, in the case of Level 5 buildings, the number of buildings and businesses is large, but the 119 Safety Center in charge are located closest to the building, which can properly respond to fire.
The present article reports the tracking characteristics of phenolic resin insulation material due to accelerated degradation. For assessing insulation degradation of the phenolic resin insulation material, experiment samples with equivalent years of 0, 10, 20, 30, and 40 years were produced by conducting accelerated degradation experiments using Arrhenius equation. Subsequently, tracking experiments according to KS C IEC 60112 standard were conducted for the experiment samples that were previously subjected to accelerated degradation. According to the measured results for tracking characteristics of phenolic resin subjected to accelerated degradation, upon dropping of 0.1% ammonium chloride, the risks were shown to increase by 1.38 times for the equivalent life of 10 years; 1.45 times for 20 years; 1.62 times for 30 years; and 1.94 times for 40 years based on the equivalent life of 0 year. Upon dropping of 0.01% ammonium chloride, the risks were shown to increase by 1.39 times for the equivalent life of 10 years; 1.52 times for 20 years; 1.99 times for 30 years; and 5.30 times for 40 years. According to the experimental results, the tracking risk was shown to be higher for longer-duration insulation degradation due to aging. In particular, the risk was observed to be greatly increased in the case of the equivalent life of 40 years. Therefore, it is proposed that the occurrence possibility and the risk of electric fires could be minimized through institutional preparation of recommended replacement period by considering risks such as insulation degradation, etc. due to aging.

The number of high-rise buildings already constructed and/or being constructed is getting increased both domestically and internationally, for example, Lotte World 2 in Seoul and Taipei 101 in Taiwan, respectively. Maintenances of those skyscrapers, especially in fire-fighting safety, would be different from those of conventional buildings and are one of keen issues. In this study, the features of risks in aspects of fire-fighting safety for the buildings are investigated and the corresponding fire safety measures are proposed to prevent the disasters and to minimize the personal and property damages from it. The proposals include the specialization in self fire-fighting managements, the realization of self fire-fighting maintenance, the establishment of the integrated fire-fighting system, and the correction of inconsistencies in related laws on fire-fighting safety.
Chemical plants and oil gas refinery facilities are intrinsically vulnerable to industrial hazards, such as explosion or fire. Especially, the fire is extremely dangerous to facility structures and plant personnel because of direct flame, radiant heat and smoke. In addition, it has the ripple effect of destroying infra-structures and polluting the environment. In an effort to tackle these potential industrial risks, the procedure of FRA techniques in chemical plants were investigated. The main focus was put on the time variation of physical properties of the main building, i.e. control rooms, warehouses and electrical substations, from a direct flame contact and radiant heat. The deformation of a building due to fire was monitored and modeled with respect to time variable. A variety of case studies, domestic and abroad, was tested in the model to verify the FRA procedure. The developed model was proven to be highly effective to reduce the possible risks at chemical plants. An accurate accident frequency prediction and damage quantification was made by the developed model.
In general, the industrial complex is a place where factories of various industries are concentrated. It is only as efficient as it is designed. However, the risks vary as there are various industries. These features are also associated with various types of disasters. The dangers of natural disasters such as a typhoon, flood, and earthquake, as well as fire and explosions, are also latent. Many of these risks can make stable production and business activities difficult, resulting in massive direct and indirect damage. In particular, decades after its establishment, the vulnerabilities increase even more as aging and small businesses are considered. In this sense, it is significant to assess the vulnerability of the industrial complex. Thus analysing fire and explosion hazards as stage 1 of the vulnerability evaluation for the major potential disasters for the industrial complex. First, fire vulnerabilities were analyzed quantitatively. It is displayed in blocks for each company. The assessment block status and the fire vulnerability rating status were conducted by applying the five-step criteria. Level A is the highest potential risk step and E is the lowest step. Level A was 11.8% in 20 blocks, level B was 22.5% in 38 blocks, level C was 25.4% in 43 blocks, level D was 26.0% in 44 blocks, and level E was 14.2% in 24 blocks. Levels A and B with high fire vulnerabilities were analyzed at 34.3%. Secondly, the vulnerability for an explosion was quantitatively analyzed. Explosive vulnerabilities were analyzed at 4.7% for level A with 8 blocks, 3.0% for level B with 5, 1.8% for level C with 3, 4.7% for level D with 8, and 85.8% for level E with 145. Levels A and B, which are highly vulnerable to explosions, were 7.7 %. Thirdly, the overall vulnerability can be assessed by adding disaster vulnerabilities to make future assessments. Moreover, it can also assist in efficient safety and disaster management by visually mapping quantified data. This will also be used for the integrated control center of the N-Industrial Complex, which is currently being installed.
Gas cylinder cabinets have risks such as cylinder explosion and scattering of debris when a fire occurs. These risks are likely to cause gas spills and cause secondary damage. In order to reduce damage, it is very important to secure the fire resistance performance of the gas cylinder cabinet. In foreign countries, NFPA codes in the United States and EN-14470-2 in Europe stipulate fire resistance test standards for gas cylinder cabinets to protect internal cylinders for a certain period of time in a situation where gas cylinder cabinets are exposed to flames. However, in Korea, only internal pressure performance and airtight performance standards are specified, and the target is limited to piping, and research and regulations for the fire resistance performance of gas cylinder cabinets are insufficient compared to overseas. Therefore, in this study, finite element analysis was used to establish fire resistance standards for domestic gas cylinder cabinets. In the event of a fire, optimal conditions are derived in terms of structure and material.
