In this paper, we present the equations of motion by which the natural vibration of a rotating annular disk can be analyzed accurately. These equations are derived from the theory of finite deformation and the principle of virtual work. The radial displacements of annular disk at the steady state where the disk is rotating at a constant angular velocity are determined by non-linear static equations formulated with 1-dimensional finite elements in radial direction. The linearlized equations of the in-plane vibrations at the disturbed state are also formulated with 1-dimensional finite elements in radial direction along the number of nodal diameters. They are expressed as in functions of the radial displacements at the steady state and the disturbed displacements about the steady state. In-plane static deformation modes of an annular disk are used as the displacement functions for the interpolation functions of the 1-dimensional finite elements. The natural vibrations of an annular disk with different boundary conditions are analyzed by using the presented model and the 3-dimensional finite element model to verify accuracy of the presented equations of motion. Its results are compared and discussed.

In this study, a numerical analysis method for soil-pile interaction in frequency domain problem is presented. The total soil-pile interaction system is divided into two parts so called near field and far field. In the near field, beam elements are used for a pile and plain strain finite elements for soil. In the far field, dynamic fundamental solution for multi-layered half planes based on boundary element formulation is adopted for soil. These two fields are coupled using FE-BE coupling technique In order to verify the proposed soil-pile interaction analysis, the dynamic responses of pile on multi-layered half planes are simulated and the results are compared with the experimental results. Also, the dynamic response analyses of interface spring elements are performed. As a result, less spring stiffness makes the natural frequency decrease and the resonant amplitude increase.
In this paper an electromechanically coupled isogeometric finite element is utilized to analyse Lamb wave excitation with piezoceramic actuators. An effective actuator design reduces the energy needed for Lamb wave excitation, which is beneficial if a structural health monitoring system should be applied for a structure. For a better understanding of the actuator behavior the piezoeceramics are studied both free and bonded at a structure. The numerical part of the analysis is performed utilizing isogeometric finite elements. To obtain the optimal performance for the numerical analysis the effect of k-refinement of the isogeometric element with respect to the convergence is studied and discussed. The optimal numerical setup with the best convergence rate is proposed and is validated with free piezoeceramic actuators. The validated model is then utilized to study the impact of actuator shape and adhesive bondline effect to the wave amplitude. The study shows that simplified analytical equations do not predict the optimal excitation frequencies for all piezoceramic designs accurately.

This paper presents a newly proposed object-oriented finite element framework and its applications on dynamic analysis of plate girder bridge. The developed framework supports various types of finite elements, materials, constraints, loads, and solution methods. One major feature different from other object-oriented finite element programs is that static model and dynamic state can be easily read from or written to a file. In addition, the framework supports efficient DOF pattern handling for a node connecting elements with different DOF patterns, new multi-point constraint handling, and various scripting languages for easy use of the library. In order to show the applicability to dynamic analysis, dynamic moving load analysis on plate girder bridge is performed.
This paper presents a finite element procedure based on Bridging multi-scale method (BMM) in order to incorporate the effect of local/cross-sectional deformations (e.g., flange local buckling and web crippling) on the global behaviour of thin-walled members made of fibre-reinforced polymer composite laminates. This method allows the application of local shell elements in critical regions of an existing beam-type model. Therefore, it obviates the need for using computationally expensive shell elements in the whole domain of the structure, which is otherwise necessary to capture the effect of the localized behaviour. Consequently, highly accurate analysis results can be achieved with this method by using significantly smaller finite element model, compared to the existing methods. The proposed method can be used for composite polymer laminates with arbitrary fibre orientation directions in different layers of the material, and under various loading conditions. Comparison with full shell-type finite element analysis results are made in order to illustrate the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed technique.
Analysis of Dynamic Characterisocs of Rectangular Plate by Finite Element Method. Dynamic characteristics of a rectangular plate with opening in it is studied by finite element method. To investigate these characteristics 12 degrees of freedom membrane finite element in used. The rectangular membrane finite elements are defined by specifying geometry, internal displacement functions and strain-displacement relations. Then, the governing equation for the finite element is derived by energy method. To derive the mass matrix and stiffness matrix of the element, expressions for strain and kineic energy in terms of the node displacement are generated. In constructing the overall structure matrix, the matrix of each elements are superposed and partitioned by applying the given boundary condition to obtain a nonslngular matrix. To find the natural freguencies and viration modes, the eigen values and the corresponding eigen vectors are computed by the computer using well known Jacobi power method. In order to verify the capability of the membrane finite element, a flat rectangular plate is analyzed first, and the result is compared with well known analytical results to show the good agreement. A rectangular plate with opening in It is analyzed with the same finite element. The results are presented in this paper. Unfortunately, the literature study could not provide with some results to compare, but the results reveal that the output of this research is phlslcally reasonable. And the results of this research are useful not only in practice but also for the future experimental research in comparison purpose.
Three-dimensional description of building structure taking into consideration soil-structure interaction is a very complex problem and solution of this problem is often obtained by using finite element method. However, this method takes a significant amount of computational time and memory. Therefore, an efficient computational model based on subdivision of the structure into building elements such as wall and floor slab elements, plane and three-dimensional joints and lintels, that could provide accurate results with significantly reduced computational time, is proposed in this study for the analysis three-dimensional structures subjected to dynamic load. The examples prove the efficiency and the computing possibilities of the model.
In this paper, a new finite annular plate element is developed, which considers the effects of the slight deviation from a perfect axisymmetry. It is assumed that, when a local deviation is introduced to an axisymmetric plate, the natural modes are separated into the symmetric and asymmetric modes. The proposed method is very efficient because a few elements are demanded and lots of active degrees of freedom are reduced in comparison with commercial numerical analysis programs. In addition, when the deviation is small enough. It is more accurate than the result of using usual plate elements of commercial FEM programs.
In this study, the modified finite element- transfer matrix methods are proposed for free vibration analysis of asymmetric structures, the bearing system of which consists of shear wall-frames. In the study, a multi-storey structure is divided into as many elements as the number of storeys and storey masses are influenced as separated at alignments of storeys. The shear walls and frames are assumed to be flexural and shear cantilever beam structures. The storey stiffness matrix is obtained by formulating the governing equation at the center of mass for the shear walls and the frames in the i.th floor. The system transfer matrix is constructed in the dimension of $6{\times}6$ by transforming the obtained stiffness matrix. Thus, the dimension, which is $12n{\times}12n$ in classical finite elements, is reduced to the dimension of $6{\times}6$. To study the suitability of the method, the results are assessed by solving two examples taken from the literature.

To predict strain distributions and weld line movements in the forming processes of tailored blank sheets, the 2-dimensional finite element formulation is developed. The welding zone is modelled with the several, narrow finite elements. The material properties of weld elements are calculated from those of base metals, based on the experimental evaluation. To verify the finite element formulation developed, the forming process of an autobody door inner panel section is simulated. FEM predictions are compared and showed good agreements with experimental measurements.
