유한요소법을 이용한 AZ31 마그네슘합금의 직/간접 압출 전산모사 (The simulation of direct/indirect extrusion of AZ3l magnesium alloy by FEM)

  • A finite element analysis has been conducted to simulate direct/indirect extrusion process for AZ31 Mg alloy at various ram and die speeds. Uniaxial compression test on AZ31 Mg alloy was carried out at various strain rates and temperatures and the result was used as input data fur finite element analysis. It was found that ram speed affects the distribution of dead zone area during direct extrusion. The inhomogeneous temperature and strain distributions through the thickness direction can be simulated under the various extrusion process conditions.

  • In this paper, a finite element based system is presented for the prediction of the distributions of the recrystallized grain sizes in the workpiece in hot forging. The system adopts fully coupled finite element thermo-mechanical model for predicting plastic deformatin and heat transfer occuring in the workpiece, and employsexisting metallurgical models relating the recrystallization behavior with the thermo-mechanical variables such as temperatures, strain, and strain rate. The system is applied to upsetting of cylindrical preform. The predicted grain sizes are compared with the measurements . It is further applied to forging of a complex-shaped product.

  • Strip drawing of strain-hardening, viscoplastic materials with damage is analyzed by a rigid plastic finite element method. A process model is formulated using two state variables, one for strain hardening from slip dominated plastic distortion and the other for damage from growth of microvoids. Application of the model to steady state drawing is given via implementation in a consistent penalty finite element formulation. The predicted density changes as a result of void growth are compared to those from experiments reported in the literature. The effects of drawing conditions such as drawing speed and die angle on the mechanical property changes are studied.

  • An approach to adaptive finite element analysis of three-dimensional forging processes is presented in this paper. In the approach, an optimal tetrahedral element generation technique is employed and the mesh density is specified by the combination of the normalized effective strain and the normalized effective strain rate. The approach is applied to computer simulation of an enclosed die forging process of a bevel gear and its results are compared with experiments.

  • Coating of Hot-dip galvannealed steel consists of various Fe-Zn intermetallic compounds. Since the coating is hard and there for is very brittle, the surface of steel sheet is easy to be ruptured during second manufacturing processing. This is called as powdering. In addition, forming equipment might be polluted with debris by powdering. Therefore, various research have been carried out to prohibit powdering fur improving the quality of GA steel. This paper carried out finite element analysis combined with damage model which simulate the failure of local layer of hot-dip galvannealed steel surface during v-bending test. Since the mechanical property of intermetallic compound was unknown exactly, we used the properties calculated from measurements. The specimen was divided into substrate, coating layer and interface layer. Local failure at coating layer or interface layer was simulated when elemental strain reached a prescribed strain.

  • This paper is concerned with a simulation-based process design for the tension levelling of metallic strips based on the elasto-plastic finite element analysis with reduced integration and hourglass control. The tension levelling process is performed to elongate the strip plastically in combination of tensile and bending strain by a controlled manner so that all longitudinal fibers in the strip have an approximately equal amount of length and undesirable strip shapes are corrected to the flat shape. The analysis deals with a method for calculating the quantitative level of the curl to investigate the roll arrangements and intermesh suitable to elimination of the curl. The analysis provides the information about the intermesh effect on the amount, the tension effect and distribution of the strain as well as the stress in order to determine the amount of elongation for correction of the irregular shape. The desired elongation is referred to determine the number of work rolls and the value of tension. Especially, the analysis investigates tile effect of the mesh size in the non-steady state finite element analysis on the amount and distribution of the strain.

유한요소해에 기초한 물성평가 압입이론 (An Indentation Theory Based on FEA Solutions for Property Evaluation)

  • A novel indentation theory is proposed by examining the data from the incremental plasticity theory based finite element analyses. First the optimal data acquisition location is selected, where the strain gradient is the least and the effect of friction is negligible. This data acquisition point increases the strain range by a factor of five. Numerical regressions of obtained data exhibit that strain hardening exponent and yield strain are the two main parameters which govern the subindenter deformation characteristics. The new indentation theory successfully provides the stress-strain curve with an average error less than 5%.

미소구조에서의 탄소성모델 (Elasto-Plasticity of Granular Micro-Structures)

  • 본 논문은 연속체역학에서의 탄소성모델을 그대로 재현할 수 있는 미소구조모델에 관해서 연구하였다. 물체를 일정크기를 지닌 입자와 그 입자들을 연결하는 선형 스프링으로 모델링한 Doublet Mechanics를 기본이론으로 하여 이를 소성 영역으로 확장하였다. 그 결과로 가장 단순한 가정을 하였을 경우 미소모델과 연속체모델이 정확히 일대일 대응을 하는 것을 보였다. 2차원 평면응력문제에 대한 예제를 통해 미소변형률과 미소응력을 계산하였고 그 결과로 거동에 대해 분석하여 이 모델의 유효성을 입증하였다.

  • Theoretical and experimental drawing characteristics for the step drawbead are discussed. The drawbead restraining forces and strains by the varous drawing angles are measured experimentally. Also, during the blank holding process, the strain distributions of upper and lower skins of specimens are analysed by the 2-D rigid-plastic F.E.M And the drawbead restraining forces and strain distributions for the drawn specimens by the drawing length are obtained by experiment.

  • A new simple method to determined the die shape using a streamline in extrusion is presented. This method assumes that a billet deforms naturally to minimize the energy input for the given process condition. Then an optimal die shape can be determined along a streamline. Extrusion operations with two types of materials strain-hardening material and strain-rate hardening material are examined using this method. Prediction with the proposed method are compared with those by the previous optimizing model to show its efficiency.
