입자강화형 금속복합재료의 강도 예측에 관한 3차원 유한요소 모델의 평가 (An Evaluation of Three Dimensional Finite Element Model on the Strength Prediction of Particles Reinforced MMCs)

  • Particles reinforced MMCs have many advantages over monolithic metals including a higher specific modulus, higher specific strength, better properties at elevated temperatures and better wear resistance. SiC$_p$/A16061 composites have good results in its mechanical properties. This work investigates SiC$_p$/A16061 composites in the microscopic view and compares the analytical results with the experimental ones. The discrepancy of the material properties between the reinforced particle, SiC$_p$, and the matrix material, A16061 appears to be so significant. Especially the coefficient of thermal expansion(CTE) of A16061 is 5 times larger than that of SiC$_p$. Thermal residual stress in MMCs is induced at high temperatures. The shape of particle is various but the theoretical model is not able to consider the nonuniform shape. Particle distribution is not homogeneous in experimental specimen. However, it is assumed to be homogeneous in simulation model. The shapes of particles are assumed to be not only perfect global but hexahedral shapes. The types of particle distribution are two - simple cubic array(SC array) and face-centered cubic array(FCC array).

  • Many cryptographic and error control coding algorithms rely on finite field GF(2m) arithmetic. Hardware implementation of these algorithms needs an efficient realization of finite field arithmetic operations. Finite field multiplication is complicated among the basic operations, and it is employed in field exponentiation and division operations. Various algorithms and architectures are proposed in the literature for hardware implementation of finite field multiplication to achieve a reduction in area and delay. In this paper, a low area and delay efficient semi-systolic multiplier over finite fields GF(2m) using the modified Montgomery modular multiplication (MMM) is presented. The least significant bit (LSB)-first multiplication and two-level parallel computing scheme are considered to improve the cell delay, latency, and area-time (AT) complexity. The proposed method has the features of regularity, modularity, and unidirectional data flow and offers a considerable improvement in AT complexity compared with related multipliers. The proposed multiplier can be used as a kernel circuit for exponentiation/division and multiplication.

  • Efficient computation of r-th root in 𝔽q has many applications in computational number theory and many other related areas. We present a new r-th root formula which generalizes Müller's result on square root, and which provides a possible improvement of the Cipolla-Lehmer type algorithms for general case. More precisely, for given r-th power c ∈ 𝔽q, we show that there exists α ∈ 𝔽qr such that $$Tr{\left(\begin{array}{cccc}{{\alpha}^{{\frac{({\sum}_{i=0}^{r-1}\;q^i)-r}{r^2}}}\atop{\text{ }}}\end{array}\right)}^r=c,$$ where $Tr({\alpha})={\alpha}+{\alpha}^q+{\alpha}^{q^2}+{\cdots}+{\alpha}^{q^{r-1}}$ and α is a root of certain irreducible polynomial of degree r over 𝔽q.

  • This study is focussed on the numerical prediction of the thermal fatigue life of a ${\mu}BGA$(Micro Ball Grid Array) solder joint. Numerical method is used to perform three-dimensional finite element analysis for Sn-37mass%Pb. Sn-3.5mass%Ag solder alloys during the given thermal cycling. Strain values, along with the result of mechanical fatigue tests for solder alloys were then used to predict the solder joint fatigue life using the Coffin-Manson equation. In this study, a practical correlation for the prediction of the thermal fatigue life is suggested by using the dimensionless variable $\gamma$. As a result. it could be found that Sn-3.5mass%Ag has longer fatigue life than Sn-37mass%Pb in low cycle fatigue. In addition. the result with ${\gamm}ashow$a good agreement with the FEA results.

  • This paper analyze the characteristics of three multipliers in finite fields GF(2m) from the point of view of processing time and area complexity. First, we analyze structure of three multipliers; 1) LSB-first systolic array, 2) LFSR structure, and 3) CA structure. To make performance analysis, each multiplier was modeled in VHDL and was synthesized for FPGA implementation. The simulation results show that LFSR structure is best from the point of view of area complexity, and LSB systolic array is best from the point of view of processing time per clock.

  • Magnetic coupling is used where required high reliability. because magnetic coupling's durability is stronger than mechanical coupling's durability. This paper shows the force characteristics of halbach array magnetized tubular type magnetic coupling using Analytical method. Analytical method was used, to find force characteristics. Finite element method (FEM) is used to validate force characteristics.

  • In this paper, a performance comparison between two blind signal estimation algorithms in a LTI channel is considered. The two algorithms, Iterative Least-Squares with Projection (ILSP) and a modified ILSP, are based on the finite-alphabet property of input symbols. This case typically arises in a multiple access system with a sensor array antenna at the receiving end. We start with the formulation of a maximum-likelihood (ML) estimation problem under an additive white Gaussian noise assumption. A blind ML estimator is derived with its iterative algorithm for calculation. Then we narrow down the consideration of this problem to QPSK case so that a modified algorithm is proposed for $\pi$/4-QPSK case. The modified version is compared with the original ILSP algorithm in terms of the rate of the convergence to global minima. A computer simulation shows that the modified algorithm gives a better performance. This result implies that the performance of the blind separation algorithms may be greatly improved by adopting a smart coding scheme with rich structure.

  • The array equations are commonly used for analysis and conceptual design of active sonar projector arrays. Calculation of the radiation impedance matrix poses a major computational bottleneck for the solution of the array equations, which leads to a dramatic increase in computational load as the number of constituent transducers increases. Here, we propose an iteration-based solution method that does not require the calculation of the radiation impedance matrix, as a computationally efficient alternative to the status quo. The validity of the iteration-based analysis is judged against the full finite-element analysis that includes the entire array as well as the medium. The array equations for the 1/3-sector of a cylindrical array comprised of 48 Tonpilz transducers are augmented by the lumped element models, and are solved iteratively for the acoustic and electro-mechanical characteristics. The iteration-based analysis exhibits rapid convergence and accuracy comparable with the FE analysis. Simulations also reveal that the acoustic coupling between transducers has more pronounced effects on the electro-mechanical characteristics of individual transducers than the acoustic performance of the array.

PBG 구조 성능 해석을 위한 주기경계조건의 FDTD 적용연구 (A Study on the FDTD method using Periodic Boundary Condition for PBG Performance Analysis)

  • PBG 구조의 메타물질 설계시 패턴 형태와 배열 구조에 따른 금지대역(bandgap)을 정확하게 설계하기 어려운 문제가 있다. 본 논문에서는 2차원 배열구조로 어떤 모양의 패턴에 대해서도 빠르고 정확하게 원하는 금지대역을 설계할 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. 2차원 평면상의 메타물질 구조는 주기배열로 이루어져 있기 때문에 FDTD 수치해석 방법에 주기경계조건을 부여함으로서 계산영역을 줄였다. 또한 각 패턴이 갖는 L, C 값을 2차원적으로 고려하여 계산하였기 때문에 보다 정확한 설계가 가능하였다. 5GHz 대역에서 정사각형 패턴을 갖는 메타물질을 설계하여 기존의 마이크로스트립 선로를 이용한 1차원 메타물질 해석 값과 비교하였을 때 정확도가 평균적으로 14.7% 향상됨을 확인할 수 있었다.
