A Detection Method of Fake Fingerprint in Optical Fingerprint Sensor (광학식 지문센서에서의 위조 지문 검출 방법)

  • With the recent development and increasing importance of personal identification systems, biometric technologies with less risk of loss or unauthorized use are being popularized rapidly. In particular, because of their high identification rate and convenience, fingerprint identification systems are being used much more commonly than other biometric systems such as iris recognition, face recognition and vein pattern recognition. However, a fingerprint identification system has the problem that artificially forged finger-prints can be used as input data. Thus, in order to solve this problem, the present study proposed a method for detecting forged fingerprints by measuring the degree of attenuation when the light from an optical fingerprint sensor passes through the finger and analyzing changes in the transmission of light over stages at fixed intervals. In order to prove improvement in the performance of the proposed system, we conducted an experiment that compared the system with an existing multi-sensor recognition system that measures also the temperature of fingerprint. According to the results of the experiment, the proposed system improved the forged fingerprint detection rate by around 32.6% and this suggests the possibility of solving the security problem in fingerprint identification systems.

  • Fingerprint has the characteristics that do not change with time and is unique to an individual. And fingerprint identification is considered the best choice for most biometric applications because of its accuracy, speed, reliability, non-intrusive interfaces and cost-effectiveness. In this paper, we applies fingerprint Identification to web site login to raise the quality of personal identification when we use e-commerce, internet banking, stock dealings, shopping mali, etc. The system implemented in this paper consists of embedded module to carry out fingerprint identification, web server and web site. Existing system carries out fingerprint identification in the web server, but the system Implemented in this paper carries out it in client. Therefore the loads of server are reduced and the confidence of internet service is improved because login is forbidden without fingerprint identification success.

  • This study presents a new system that can make up for the decrease in identification rate due to the environmental or physical factors of a fingerprint identification system, which is most actively used among existing biometric systems. Considered most usable in life among many types of biometrics due to the convenience of use, smaller initial investment, and the smaller size, fingerprint identification is widely used in diverse applications. However, a fingerprint identification system has several defects, including environmental factors, physical skin damage, and variable sensor contact, lowering the identification rate in comparison to other biometric systems. On the basis of the existing fingerprint system, this study presents a more efficient system that can improve the identification rate by getting additional biometric information and three-dimensional finger type information through the use of simple and inexpensive additional equipment, which can be used in diverse areas.

  • The pre-existing medical treatment was done in person between doctors and patients. EMR (Electronic Medical Record) System computerizing medical history of patients has been proceed and has raised concerns in terms of violation of human right for private information. Which integrates "Identification information" containing patients' personal details as well as "Medical records" such as the medical history of patients and computerizes all the records processed in hospital. Therefore, all medical information should be protected from misuse and abuse since it is very important for every patient. Particularly the right to privacy of medical record for each patient should be surely secured. Medical record means what doctors put down during the medical examination of patients. In this paper, we applies fingerprint identification to EMR system login to raise the quality of personal identification when user access to EMR System. The system implemented in this paper consists of embedded module to carry out fingerprint identification, web server and web site. Existing carries out it in client. And the confidence of hospital service is improved because login is forbidden without fingerprint identification success.

  • In this paper, we developed a mobile fingerprint identification system using wireless LAN based on IEEE 802.11 or mobile networks based on CDMA. The proposed system contains a server system to register fingerprints and ID data, clients system which is PDA with WLAN or CDMA module and fingerprint identification module.

  • Henry System which is a traditional fingerprint classification model is difficult to apply to a modem Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS). To tackle this problem, this study is to apply algorithm for an An Ensemble Fingerprint Classroom System using changes of gradient of ridge in order to improve precise joining speed of a large volume of database. The existing classification system, Henry System, is useful in a captured fingerprint image of core point and delta point using paper and ink. However, the Henry System is unapplicable in modem Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) because of problems such as size of input sensor and way of input. This study is to suggest an Ensemble Fingerprint Classroom System which can classify 5 basic patterns of Henry System in uncaptured delta image using changes of gradient of ridge. The proposed fingerprint classification technique will make an improvement of precise joining speed by reducing data volume.

  • Fingerprint Recognition System is made up of Off-line treatment and On-line treatment; the one is registering all the information of there trieving features which are retrieved in the digitalized fingerprint getting out of the analog fingerprint through the fingerprint acquisition device and the other is the treatment making the decision whether the users are approved to be accessed to the system or not with matching them with the fingerprint features which are retrieved and database from the input fingerprint when the users are approaching the system to use. In matching between On-line and Off-line treatment, the most important thing is which features we are going to use as the standard. Therefore, we have been using "Delta" and "Core" as this standard until now, but there might have been some deficits not to exist in every person when we set them up as the standards. In order to handle the users who do not have those features, we are still using the matching method which enables us to make up of the spanning tree or the triangulation with the relations of the spanned feature. However, there are some overheads of the time on these methods and it is not sure whether they make the correct matching or not. In this paper, introduces a new data structure, called Union and Division, representing binary fingerprint image. Minutiae detecting procedure using Union and Division takes, on the average, 32% of the consuming time taken by a minutiae detecting procedure without using Union and Division.

Personal Identification System Using Directional Distribution of Fingerprints (지문의 방향분포를 이용한 개인 인증 시스템)

  • Personal identification using fingerprints needs much calculational effort. Generally, there are various methods for fingerprint-based identification. In this paper, an identification method is proposed which is based on direction distribution of fingerprint ridges. An 8-directional Gabor filter bank is used for extracting the feature vector from the given fingerprint. Then, it is compared with those of registered fingerprints for matching. This method is simple and fast to implement because it uses the information of ridge directions only. An experiment on 532 fingerprints from NIST database and some other source shows its usefulness.

  • In this paper, we proposed a personal identification method using binay image encryption technique and decryption system in JTC structure. Logo which represents the group symbol was encrypted with personal fingerprint and JTC structure decrypts this logo. The logo can not decrypted by other unused fingerprint even if the encrypted image was lost or stolen. So this method can give more safe personal identification.

  • Fingerprints have been widely used in the biometric authentication because of its performance, uniqueness and universality. Lately, the speed of identification has become a very important aspect in the fingerprint-based security applications. Also, the reliability still remains the main issue in the fingerprint identification. A fast and reliable fingerprint matching algorithm based on the process of the 'self-nonself' discrimination in the biological immune system was proposed. The proposed algorithm is organized by two-matching stages. The 1st matching stage utilized the self-space and MHC detector string set that are generated from the information of the minutiae and the values of the directional field. The 2nd matching stage was made based on the local-structure of the minutiae. The proposed matching algorithm reduces matching time while maintaining the reliability of the matching algorithm.
