중심성의 이동: 치매 환자 가족의 돌봄 경험에 대한 질적 합성 접근 (Shifting of Centricity: Qualitative Meta Synthetic Approach on Caring Experience of Family Members of Patients with Dementia)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to synthesize the caring experiences of Korean family members of patients with dementia through a qualitative meta-synthesis method. Methods: By searching through nine Korean and English databases, we compared 37 qualitative studies on caring experiences of family members of patients with dementia. The selected studies were synthesized through meta-synthesis, proposed by Sandelowski and Barroso (2007). Results: The meta-synthesis elicited four themes: tough life due to care for patients, changes in relationships, adaptation to caregiver's roles, and new perspectives of life through personal growth. Caregivers were shocked when a sudden diagnosis of dementia was made prior to any preparation on their part. They were tied to their patients all the time and their mind and body got exhausted. Their relationship with patients began to change and they looked at them differently. They experienced conflicts with the other non-caring family members and were alienated from them. They were also socially isolated. However, by building their own care strategies and utilizing social resources, they gradually adapted to their caregiver roles. Finally, they experienced personal growth and acquired a new perspective toward life by accepting their roles and finding meaning in their lives. Shifting the caregiver's centricity from themselves to the patient was the process of becoming human beings who actively constructed their realities while giving meaning to their painful lives and interacting with the environment. Conclusion: The results of the study can be useful for nurses in understanding the experiences of caregivers of the patients with dementia and in providing them with practical interventions.

프리츠커 건축상과 도시사회에 관한 연구 (A Study on Pritzker Architecture Prize and Urban Society)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate how Pritzker Architecture Prize as a social act has maintained an organic relationship with the architecture, the urban society through the speakings and writings of the laureates of the Pritzker Architecture Prize. The composition of this research is to grasp the background of the establishment of Pritzker Architecture Prize and the examination process, to examine its social meaning, and to identify the main flow of words from writings about the laureates through the literature survey and text frequency analysis. And is to interpret the meaning of urban society change and words about the laureates. As a result of the analysis of the flow, it is a tendency to move from ideology and style to newness and innovation, and now to publicity and sociality. Especially in recent years, a wide range of values are floated as much as the complicated issues of urban society and the natural environment. The various architectural activities that make up the urban life became more important than the building units existing like an icon. It is considered possible because the Pritzker Architecture Prize has been awarded for a sustainable common social act. In addition, through literature surveys, have also seen changes in the value of individual laureates, the mixing of styles, and the eclectic aspect. Therefore, the task of reading change should not be a process of finding a new style for a new age, but a task of acknowledging heterogeneity of each architect and recognizing diversity through pluralization.

Molecular Phylogeny Reconstruction of Grouper (Serranidae: Epinephelinae) at Northern Part of Bird's Head Seascape - Papua Inferred from COI Gene

  • Grouper is one of the most economically important fishes with various morphological forms and characteristics, meaning it is often difficult to identify species and distinguish between life stages, sometimes leading to morphological misidentification. Therefore, identification using a molecular deoxyribose nucleic acid (DNA) approach was needed as an alternative means to identify closely related species. This study aims to determine the molecular phylogeny of grouper from the northern part of the Bird's Head Seascape of Papua. The DNA sequence of each cytochrome oxidase I (COI) gene was used to study the molecular relationship among closely related species of grouper. The results showed that there were 16 Epinephelinae that have been compared to a gene bank (National Centre for Biotechnology Information, NCBI) in the sequence length of 623 base pairs. The closest genetic distance was found between Cephalopholis miniata and Cephalopholis sexmaculata (0.036), while the furthest genetic distance was observed between Plectropomus laevis and Cephalopholis spiloparaea (0.247). This finding was further reinforced by the morphological characters of each species. This finding highlighted that five genera were represented as a monophyletic group (clade), i.e., Epinephelus, Cephalopholis, Plectropomus, Saloptia and Variola.

기혼자 '결혼' 인식에 대한 질적 연구 - '싱글'과 대비한 '결혼' 인식 - (Qualitative study on perceptions of marriage among married people - In comparison with single life -)

  • 본 연구에서는 기혼자 22명을 대상으로 심층면접을 통하여 기혼자의 '결혼'에 대한 인식을 살펴보았다. 심층 면접 자료를 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 기혼자들은 결혼을 통해 얻는 것이 있으면 잃는 것이 있다는 양면을 잘 인식하고 있었다. 즉 결혼을 하면서 잃어버린 자신의 세계에 대한 동경이 있고, 자유로웠던 싱글 시기를 그리워하고 아쉬워하지만, 반면에 결혼을 통해 안정감과 소속감을 얻게 되었고 외롭지 않다고 한다. 2. 기혼자들은 결혼은 경험하지 않으면 모르는 세계라고 인식한다. 싱글은 인생의 간만 보는 것이라면 결혼은 인생의 맛을 보는 것이라고 인식한다. 기혼자들이 결혼의 삶에서 찾아나가는 '맛'은 '가족과 자식의 힘', '인생 고비 뒤의 나를 찾아가는 길', '함께 하는 삶의 즐거움과 편안함', '넓어지는 삶의 폭, 높아지는 삶의 질'이다.

Types of Shamanistic Expression Reflected in the Modern Fashion and Its Aesthetic Characteristics

  • The modern fashion contains the religious factors or theories out of numerous cultural traits. Shamanism is a product of the very complicated combination of diversified cultural phenomena and whose traits are depicted as spiritual and artistic forms, reflecting on the materialism culture, social relations, customs, and religious faith. The Shamanism that lies in the life of humans gives much impact on their clothing life up to date, consciously or nonconsciously as well. The Shamanism clothing studied as yet has been focused on the costumes that a Shamanism priest and a shaman, the principal Shamanism performer wears and on the symbolic meaning or formativeness of the traditional shaman clothing that is only confined to certain local regions. The Shamanism in the modern costume influences not only on the traditional clothing unique to shaman but also on the other apparels in a widely extended sense. Nevertheless, the research on the modern costumes related to Shamanism is yet to be progressed. In this context, it is believed that the examination of Shamanism interrelated with a contemporary clothing expression is needed. This work would take a look specifically at how the Shamanism is given in the modern clothing fashion and review the inherent aesthetic characteristics. A fact was driven through this study that the shamanism shown in fashion is not only expressed in the modern style of shaman clothing but also unconsciously absorbed in the fashion on the whole. A finding was also revealed that the geometrical and abstract expression, the implication of animistic components, and the application of inherent shaman's costume on to design in regard to clothing are related to a view point of studying about shamanism. The meaning in each expressive method is focused on the superhumanistic desire of shamanism.

사회복지교육프로그램 참여 지체장애인의 건강과 사회화 경험 (Socialization and Health Experiences of Physical disabled Adults in Public Welfare Program)

  • This study was to describe and understand the experiences of the physical disabled adult attending in public welfare program. The interview data were collected from seven persons and analyzed by using descriptive phenomenology of Colazzi. The procedural steps were that described the phenomenon of interest, collected participants' descriptions of the phenomenon, extracted the meaning of significant statements, organized the meanings into them clusters, wrote exhaustive descriptions and then incorporated data into an exhaustive description. The finding in 129 re-statements, 63 constructed meanings, 35 themes, 13 theme clusters, and six categories were deduced. The six categories were 'Life patterns exclusive health', 'Powerlessness by physical disabilities', 'Social supports', 'Positive motivation', 'Seeking to be holistic health', and 'Sense of accomplishment'. The study identified that social welfare program for the disabled necessities for health, learning, economy and their future in success. Therefore, we suggest there may be a need for supplying professional program for their health and welfare.

Spiritual Care Guide in HospiceㆍPalliative Care

  • The Spiritual Care Guide in HospiceㆍPalliative Care is evidence-based and focuses on the universal and integral aspects of human spirituality-such as meaning and purpose, interconnectedness, and transcendence-which go beyond any specific religion. This guide was crafted to improve the spiritual well-being of adult patients aged 19 and older, as well as their families, who are receiving end-of-life care. The provision of spiritual care in hospice and palliative settings aims to assist patients and their families in finding life's meaning and purpose, restoring love and relationships, and helping them come to terms with death while maintaining hope. It is recommended that spiritual needs and the interventions provided are periodically reassessed and evaluated, with the findings recorded. Additionally, hospice and palliative care teams are encouraged to pursue ongoing education and training in spiritual care. Although challenges exist in universally applying this guide across all hospice and palliative care organizations in Korea-due to varying resources and the specific environments of medical institutions-it is significant that the Korean Society for Hospice and Palliative Care has introduced a spiritual care guide poised to enhance the spiritual well-being and quality of care for hospice and palliative care patients.

기억 향상 요소를 강화한 노인 집단 자서전 쓰기 프로그램의 효과 (The Effects of a Memoir Writing Program for the Elderly Using Cognitive Enhancement Techniques)

  • 인생회고는 자기 삶을 돌아보고 평가하는 것으로 노년기에 삶의 의미를 찾는 데 필요한 과정이고, 이러한 인생회고를 효과적으로 할 수 있는 한 가지 방법이 자기 일생의 사적(史跡)을 기록하는 자서전 쓰기다. 본 연구에서는 인생의 주요 주제를 중심으로 자서전 내용을 구성하여, 자전적 기억의 점화 및 인출 지지를 통해 글쓰기를 실행하고, 원고의 편집 및 교정작업을 거쳐 프로그램 종결 시 자신의 완성된 자서전을 받을 수 있도록 프로그램을 개발하여 그 효과를 검증해 보았다. 60세 이상 노인 14명을 대상으로 15회기에 걸쳐 프로그램을 실시하였고 사전 사후검사 결과, 자아 통합감, 생활 만족도, 삶의 질이 향상되고 우울감은 저하되는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 집단 자서전 쓰기 프로그램이 노인의 안녕감 증진에 매우 유용하다는 것을 시사한다. 논의에서 연구 결과의 함의를 비롯하여 본 연구의 의의, 한계점, 후속 연구에 대해 기술하였다.

암으로 자녀를 잃은 가족의 경험에 대한 질적연구 (The Experience of the Family Whose Child Has Died of Cancer)

  • The purpose of this study was to build a substantive theory about the experience of the family whose child has died of cancer The qualitative re-search method used was grounded theory. The interviewees were 17 mothers who had cared for a child who had died of cancer Traditionally in Korea, mothers are the care givers in the family and are considered sensitive to the family's thoughts, feelings. The data were collected through in-depth interviews by the investigator over a period of nine months. The data were analyzed simultaniously by a constant comparative method in which new data are continuously coded into categories and properties according to Strauss and Corbin's methodology. The 16 concepts which were found as a result of analyzing the grounded data were, -left over time, the empty place, meaninglessness, inner sadness, situational sadness, heartache, physical pain, guilt, resentment, regret, support / stigmatization, finding meaning in the death, changing attitudes about life and living, changing attitudes about health, changing religious practice and changing family relations. Five categories emerged from the analysis. They were emptiness, consisting of left over time, the empty place and meaninglessness ; sadness, consisting of inner sadness and situational sadness ; pain, consisting of heartache and physical pain ; bitterness, consisting of guilt, resentment, regret, sup-port / stigmatization and finding meaning in the death : and transition, consisiting of changing attitudes about life and living, changing attitudes about health, changing religious practice and changing family relations. These categories were synthesized into the core concept, -the process of filling the empty space. The core phenomenon was emptiness. Emptiness varied with the passing of time, was perceived differently according to support / stigmatization and finding meaning in the death, was followed by sad-ness, pain, and bitterness, and finally resulted in changes in attitudes about life and living and about health, and in changes in religious practice and family relations. The process of filling the empty space proceeded by ① accepting realty, ② searching for the reason for the child's death, ③ controlling the bitter feelings, ④ reconstructing the relationships ameng death, illness and health and ⑤ filling the emptiness by resolving causes of child's death, adopting, having another child or with work. Six hypotheses were derived from the analysis. ① The longer the bereavement, the mere the empty space becomes filled. ② The longer the hospitalization, the more sup-port the family needs. ③ The more the sadness, pain and bitterness are expressed, the mere positive changes emerge. ④ Family support faciliates the process of filling the empty space. ⑤ Higher family cohesiveness faciliates the process of filling the empty space. ⑥ The greater the variety of reasons attributed to the child's death, the greater the variety of patterns of change. Four propositions related to emptiness and bitter-ness were developed. ① When the sense of emptiness is great and bitterness is manifested by severe feelings of guilt and resentment, the longer the process of fill-ing the empty space. ② When the sense of emptiness is great and the family is highly motivated to get rid of the bitterness, the shorter the process of filling the empty space. ③ When the sense of emptiness is less and bitter-ness is manifested by severe feelings of guilt and resentment, the process of filling the empty space is delayed. ④ When the sense of emptiness is less and the family is highly motivated to get rid of the bitterness, the process of filling the empty space goes on to completion. Through this substantive theory, nurses under-stand the importance of emptiness and bitterness in helping the family that has lost a child through cancer fill the empty space. Further research to build substantive theories to explain other losses may con-tribute to a formal theory of how family health is restored after human tragedies are experienced.

현대조경설계에 있어서 시각 개념의 전개 양상 - 가시성에서 확장된 시각성을 중심으로 - (The Development Patterns of Visual Concepts in Contemporary Landscape Design - With a Focus on Visibility from Expanded Visuality -)

  • This study emphasizes users' participation, a living-transforming visuality, as users have appeared to be a central element of landscape design but ignored before. Also this study tries to propose meaning of extended visuality in contemporary landscape design on the basis of visual criticism on simple perception-and contemplations convention-based landscape design. For these purposes, this study reviews characteristics of visual changes appeared in modern reductionist paintings. In other words, arts can be interpreted in polysemous ways through bodies' experience. Deconstructive concepts derived from the theoretical reviews can be categorized into three including the participation of the users' bodies from a contemplative point of view, textuality and intertextuality, and experiences from works. Those concepts were used to criticize the previous discourse on landscape designs and to analyze various issues in the theories, themes and techniques in contemporary landscape design. The significance of the expanded visuality in contemporary landscape design is that it brings the users' voluntary participation. This structure can serve as a tool to obtain the users' perceptive effects. At the same time, it can be regarded as a process of establishing the relationships between the users and the works. Thus emphasis is placed not only on the influences of the effects structure of the works themselves, but also on the many different dimensions related to the users' bodies. It implies that the meaning of design is not determined by the designer but a product resulted from the voluntary relationships between users and works. These findings lead to ambiguous distinctions between arts everyday life, and eventually to the end of the concepts of formative dichotomous aesthetics and their effectiveness. Finding of this study call for not only redefining the space where landscape design is created and communicated, but also reconsidering the concepts of landscape design and its ontological meanings.
