In the processing of ocean color remote sensing data, spatio-temporal binning is crucial for securing effective observation area. The validity determination for given source data refers to the information in Level-2 flag. For minimizing the stray light contamination, NASA OBPG's standard algorithm suggests the use of large filtering window but it results in the loss of effective observation area. This study is aimed for quality improvement of ocean color remote sensing data by recovering/extending the portion of effective observation area. We analyzed the difference between MODIS/Aqua standard and modified product in terms of chlorophyll-a concentration, spatial and temporal coverage. The recovery fractions in Level-2 swath product, Level-3 daily composite product, 8-day composite product, and monthly composite product were $13.2({\pm}5.2)%$, $30.8({\pm}16.3)%$, $15.8({\pm}9.2)%$, and $6.0({\pm}5.6)%$, respectively. The mean difference between chlorophyll-a concentrations of two products was only 0.012%, which is smaller than the nominal precision of the geophysical parameter estimation. Increase in areal coverage also results in the increase in temporal density of multi-temporal dataset, and this processing gain was most effective in 8-day composite data. The proposed method can contribute for the quality enhancement of ocean color remote sensing data by improving not only the data productivity but also statistical stability from increased number of samples.
Vegetation processes have a significant impact on rainfall runoff processes through evapotranspiration control, but are rarely considered in the conceptual lumped hydrological model. This study evaluated the model performance of the Hapcheon Dam watershed by integrating the ecological module expressing the leaf area index data sensed remotely from the satellite into the hydrological partition module. The proposed eco-hydrological model has three main features to better represent the eco-hydrological process in humid regions. 1) The growth rate of vegetation is constrained by water shortage stress in the watershed. 2) The maximum growth of vegetation is limited by the energy of the watershed climate. 3) The interaction of vegetation and aquifers is reflected. The proposed model simultaneously simulates hydrologic components and vegetation dynamics of watershed scale. The following findings were found from the validation results using the model parameters estimated by the SCEM algorithm. 1) Estimating the parameters of the eco-hydrological model using the leaf area index and streamflow data can predict the streamflow with similar accuracy and robustness to the hydrological model without the ecological module. 2) Using the remotely sensed leaf area index without filtering as input data is not helpful in estimating streamflow. 3) The integrated eco-hydrological model can provide an excellent estimate of the seasonal variability of the leaf area index.

Field compost is a representative non-point pollution source for livestock. If the field compost flows into the water system due to rainfall, nutrients such as phosphorus and nitrogen contained in the field compost can adversely affect the water quality of the river. In this paper, we propose a method for detecting field compost using unmanned aerial vehicle images and deep learning-based semantic segmentation. Based on 39 ortho images acquired in the study area, about 30,000 data were obtained through data augmentation. Then, the accuracy was evaluated by applying the semantic segmentation algorithm developed based on U-net and the filtering technique of Open CV. As a result of the accuracy evaluation, the pixel accuracy was 99.97%, the precision was 83.80%, the recall rate was 60.95%, and the F1-Score was 70.57%. The low recall compared to precision is due to the underestimation of compost pixels when there is a small proportion of compost pixels at the edges of the image. After, It seems that accuracy can be improved by combining additional data sets with additional bands other than the RGB band.
In this paper, we propose speech enhancement algorithm as a pre-processing for robust speech recognition in noisy environments. Auxiliary-function-based Independent Vector Analysis (AuxIVA) is performed with weighted covariance matrix using time-varying variances with scaling factor from target masks representing time-frequency contributions of target speech. The mask estimates can be obtained using Neural Network (NN) pre-trained for speech extraction or diffuseness using Coherence-to-Diffuse power Ratio (CDR) to find the direct sounds component of a target speech. In addition, outputs for omni-directional noise are closely chained by sharing the time-varying variances similarly to independent subspace analysis or IVA. The speech extraction method based on AuxIVA is also performed in Independent Low-Rank Matrix Analysis (ILRMA) framework by extending the Non-negative Matrix Factorization (NMF) for noise outputs to Non-negative Tensor Factorization (NTF) to maintain the inter-channel dependency in noise output channels. Experimental results on the CHiME-4 datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the presented algorithms.
This study aims to present a method for implementing a decision support system that can be used for selecting emerging technologies by applying a machine learning-based automatic classification technique. To conduct the research, the architecture of the entire system was built and detailed research steps were conducted. First, emerging technology candidate items were selected and trend data was automatically generated using a big data system. After defining the conceptual model and pattern classification structure of technological development, an efficient machine learning method was presented through an automatic classification experiment. Finally, the analysis results of the system were interpreted and methods for utilization were derived. In a DTW-kNN-based classification experiment that combines the Dynamic Time Warping(DTW) method and the k-Nearest Neighbors(kNN) classification model proposed in this study, the identification performance was up to 87.7%, and particularly in the 'eventual' section where the trend highly fluctuates, the maximum performance difference was 39.4% points compared to the Euclidean Distance(ED) algorithm. In addition, through the analysis results presented by the system, it was confirmed that this decision support system can be effectively utilized in the process of automatically classifying and filtering by type with a large amount of trend data.
From January 2020 to October 2021, more than 500,000 academic studies related to COVID-19 (Coronavirus-2, a fatal respiratory syndrome) have been published. The rapid increase in the number of papers related to COVID-19 is putting time and technical constraints on healthcare professionals and policy makers to quickly find important research. Therefore, in this study, we propose a method of extracting useful information from text data of extensive literature using LDA and Word2vec algorithm. Papers related to keywords to be searched were extracted from papers related to COVID-19, and detailed topics were identified. The data used the CORD-19 data set on Kaggle, a free academic resource prepared by major research groups and the White House to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, updated weekly. The research methods are divided into two main categories. First, 41,062 articles were collected through data filtering and pre-processing of the abstracts of 47,110 academic papers including full text. For this purpose, the number of publications related to COVID-19 by year was analyzed through exploratory data analysis using a Python program, and the top 10 journals under active research were identified. LDA and Word2vec algorithm were used to derive research topics related to COVID-19, and after analyzing related words, similarity was measured. Second, papers containing 'vaccine' and 'treatment' were extracted from among the topics derived from all papers, and a total of 4,555 papers related to 'vaccine' and 5,971 papers related to 'treatment' were extracted. did For each collected paper, detailed topics were analyzed using LDA and Word2vec algorithms, and a clustering method through PCA dimension reduction was applied to visualize groups of papers with similar themes using the t-SNE algorithm. The combination of the LDA model and the Word2vec model tried to show better performance by identifying the relationship between the document and the LDA subject and the relationship between the Word2vec document. In addition, as a clustering method through PCA dimension reduction, a method for intuitively classifying documents by using the t-SNE technique to classify documents with similar themes and forming groups into a structured organization of documents was presented. In a situation where the efforts of many researchers to overcome COVID-19 cannot keep up with the rapid publication of academic papers related to COVID-19, it will reduce the precious time and effort of healthcare professionals and policy makers, and rapidly gain new insights. $\underline{Purpose}$: To develop a wireless CCTV system in semi-beam's eye view (BEV) to monitor daily patient setup in radiation therapy. $\underline{Materials\;and\;Methods}$: In order to get patient images in semi-BEV, CCTV cameras are installed in a custom-made acrylic applicator below the treatment head of a linear accelerator. The images from the cameras are transmitted via radio frequency signal (${\sim}2.4\;GHz$ and 10 mW RF output). An expected problem with this system is radio frequency interference, which is solved utilizing RF shielding with Cu foils and median filtering software. The images are analyzed by our custom-made software. In the software, three anatomical landmarks in the patient surface are indicated by a user, then automatically the 3 dimensional structures are obtained and registered by utilizing a localization procedure consisting mainly of stereo matching algorithm and Gauss-Newton optimization. This algorithm is applied to phantom images to investigate the setup accuracy. Respiratory gating system is also researched with real-time image processing. A line-laser marker projected on a patient's surface is extracted by binary image processing and the breath pattern is calculated and displayed in real-time. $\underline{Results}$: More than 80% of the camera noises from the linear accelerator are eliminated by wrapping the camera with copper foils. The accuracy of the localization procedure is found to be on the order of $1.5{\pm}0.7\;mm$ with a point phantom and sub-millimeters and degrees with a custom-made head/neck phantom. With line-laser marker, real-time respiratory monitoring is possible in the delay time of ${\sim}0.17\;sec$. $\underline{Conclusion}$: The wireless CCTV camera system is the novel tool which can monitor daily patient setups. The feasibility of respiratory gating system with the wireless CCTV is hopeful.
One of main benefits of a dual polarization radar is improvement of quantitative rainfall estimation. In this paper, performance of two representative rainfall estimation methods for a dual polarization radar, JPOLE and CSU algorithms, have been compared by using data from a MOLIT S-band dual polarization radar. In addition, this paper presents evaluation of specific differential phase ($K_{dp}$) retrieval algorithm proposed by Lim et al. (2013). Current $K_{dp}$ retrieval methods are based on range filtering technique or regression analysis. However, these methods can result in underestimating peak $K_{dp}$ or negative values in convective regions, and fluctuated $K_{dp}$ in low rain rate regions. To resolve these problems, this study applied the $K_{dp}$ distribution method suggested by Lim et al. (2013) and evaluated by adopting new $K_{dp}$ to JPOLE and CSU algorithms. Data were obtained from the Mt. Biseul radar of MOLIT for two rainfall events in 2012. Results of evaluation showed improvement of the peak $K_{dp}$ and did not show fluctuation and negative $K_{dp}$ values. Also, in heavy rain (daily rainfall > 80 mm), accumulated daily rainfall using new $K_{dp}$ was closer to AWS observation data than that using legacy $K_{dp}$, but in light rain(daily rainfall < 80mm), improvement was insignificant, because $K_{dp}$ is used mostly in case of heavy rain rate of quantitative rainfall estimation algorithm.

Image registration is a process to establish the spatial correspondence between images of the same scene, which are acquired at different view points, at different times, or by different sensors. This paper presents a new algorithm for robust registration of the images acquired by multiple sensors having different modalities; the EO (electro-optic) and IR(infrared) ones in the paper. The two feature-based and intensity-based approaches are usually possible for image registration. In the former selection of accurate common features is crucial for high performance, but features in the EO image are often not the same as those in the R image. Hence, this approach is inadequate to register the E0/IR images. In the latter normalized mutual Information (nHr) has been widely used as a similarity measure due to its high accuracy and robustness, and NMI-based image registration methods assume that statistical correlation between two images should be global. Unfortunately, since we find out that EO and IR images don't often satisfy this assumption, registration accuracy is not high enough to apply to some applications. In this paper, we propose a two-stage NMI-based registration method based on the analysis of statistical correlation between E0/1R images. In the first stage, for robust registration, we propose two preprocessing schemes: extraction of statistically correlated regions (ESCR) and enhancement of statistical correlation by filtering (ESCF). For each image, ESCR automatically extracts the regions that are highly correlated to the corresponding regions in the other image. And ESCF adaptively filters out each image to enhance statistical correlation between them. In the second stage, two output images are registered by using NMI-based algorithm. The proposed method provides prospective results for various E0/1R sensor image pairs in terms of accuracy, robustness, and speed.
Recommender Systems have been huge influence users and business more and more. Recently the importance of E-commerce has been reached rapid growth greatly in world-wide COVID-19 pandemic. Recommender system is the center of E-commerce lively. Top ranked E-commerce managers mentioned that recommender systems have a major influence on customer's purchase such as about 50% of Netflix, Amazon sales from their recommender systems. Most algorithms have been focused on improving accuracy of recommender system regardless of novelty, diversity, serendipity etc. Recommender systems with only high accuracy cannot satisfy business long-term profit because of generating sales polarization. In addition, customers do not experience enjoyment of shopping from only focusing accuracy recommender system because customer's preference is changed constantly. Therefore, recommender systems with various values need to be developed for user's high satisfaction. Reranking is the most useful methodology to realize diversity of recommender system. In this paper, diversity of recommender system is represented through constructing high similarity with users who have different preference using each user's purchased item's category algorithm. It is distinguished from past research approach which is changing the algorithm of recommender system without user's diversity preference level. We tried to discover user's diversity preference level and observed the results how the effect was different according to user's diversity preference level. In addition, graph-based recommender system was used to show diversity through user's network, not collaborative filtering. In this paper, Amazon Grocery and Gourmet Food data was used because the low-involvement product, such as habitual product, foods, low-priced goods etc., had high probability to show customer's diversity. First, a bipartite graph with users and items simultaneously is constructed to make graph-based recommender system. However, each users and items unipartite graph also need to be established to show diversity of recommender system. The weight of each unipartite graph has played crucial role changing Jaccard Distance of item's category. We can observe two important results from the user's unipartite network. First, the user's diversity preference level is observed from the network and second, dissimilar users can be discovered in the user's network. Through the research process, diversity of recommender system is presented highly with small accuracy loss and optimalization for higher accuracy is possible controlling diversity ratio. This paper has three important theoretical points. First, this research expands recommender system research for user's satisfaction with various values. Second, the graph-based recommender system is developed newly. Third, the evaluation indicator of diversity is made for diversity. In addition, recommender systems are useful for corporate profit practically and this paper has contribution on business closely. Above all, business long-term profit can be improved using recommender system with diversity and the recommender system can provide right service according to user's diversity level. Lastly, the corporate selling low-involvement products have great effect based on the results.
