Radionuclide cardiac studies lend themselves exceptionally well to functional imaging. This is especially true for gated blood pool scan (GBP). Making functional images is also possible in radionuclide angiocardiography (RNAC). In this study we tried to validate the functional images obtained from RNAC by comparing it with GBP. Twenty three patients (16 patients with coronary artery diseases, 5 with hypertensive heart diseases, and 2 with nonspecific chest pains) underwent simultaneous RNAC and GBP at the same position (LAO $45^{\circ}$). From both studies, global ejection fraction, regional ejection fraction, phase image, amplitude image, stroke image, paradox image, maximum ejection and maximum filling rates were obtained. Global ejection fraction are almost same in both studies. Regional ejection fractions of apex and inferior portion of left ventricle calculated from RNAC are well correlated with those of GBP. Phase and paradox image, maximum ejection and maximum filling rates were obtained. Global ejection fraction are almost same in both studies. Regional ejection fractions of apex and inferior portion of left ventricle calculated from RNAC are well correlated with those of GBP. Phase and paradox images of RNAC are very similar to those of GBP. However, amplitude and stroke images are different. Regional ejection fractions of the left ventricular base, maximum ejection and maximum filling rates obtained from RNAC are significantly different from those of GBP. In conclusion, albeit all of functional images of RNAC is not same as GBP, regional walt motions and global left ventricular function are expected to be successfully analyzed by phase and paradox image and ejection fraction.

Objective: To compare the utility of computed tomography perfusion (CTP) and three different 4-point scoring systems in computed tomography angiography (CTA) in confirming brain death (BD) in patients with and without skull defects. Materials and Methods: Ninety-two patients clinically diagnosed as BD using CTA and/or CTP for confirmation were retrospectively reviewed. For the final analysis, 86 patients were included in this study. Images were re-evaluated by three radiologists according to the 4-point scoring systems that consider the vessel opacification on 1) the venous phase for both M4 segments of the middle cerebral arteries (MCAs-M4) and internal cerebral veins (ICVs) (A60-V60), 2) the arterial phase for the MCA-M4 and venous phase for the ICVs (A20-V60), 3) the venous phase for the ICVs and superior petrosal veins (ICV-SPV). The CTP images were independently reviewed. The presence of an open skull defect and stasis filling was noted. Results: Sensitivities of the ICV-SPV, A20-V60, A60-V60 scoring systems, and CTP in the diagnosis of BD were 89.5%, 82.6%, 67.4%, and 93.3%, respectively. The sensitivity of A20-V60 scoring was higher than that of A60-V60 in BD patients (p < 0.001). CTP was found to be the most sensitive method (86.5%) in patients with open skull defect (p = 0.019). Interobserver agreement was excellent in the diagnosis of BD, in assessing A20-V60, A60-V60, ICV-SPV, CTP, and good in stasis filling (κ: 0.84, 0.83, 0.83, 0.83, and 0.67, respectively). Conclusion: The sensitivity of CTA confirming brain death differs between various proposed 4-point scoring systems. Although the ICV-SPV is the most sensitive, evaluation of the SPV is challenging. Adding CTP to the routine BD CTA protocol, especially in cases with open skull defect, could increase sensitivity as a useful adjunct.
Sn-filled $Co_8Sb_{24}$ skutterudites were synthesized by the encapsulated induction melting process. Single ${\delta}-phase$ was successfully obtained by subsequent annealing and confirmed by X-ray diffraction analysis. Temperature dependences of Seebeck coefficient, electrical resistivity and thermal conductivity were examined from 300 K to 700 K. The positive Seebeck coefficient confirmed the p-type conductivity of the Sn-filled $Co_8Sb_{24}$. Electrical resistivity increased with increasing temperature, which shows that the Sn-filled $Co_8Sb_{24}$ skutterudite is a highly degenerate semiconductor. Thermal conductivity was reduced by Sn-filling because the filler atoms acted as phonon scattering centers in the skutterudite lattice. Thermoelectric figure of merit was enhanced by Sn filling and its optimum filling content was considered to be $z{\leq}0.5$ in the $Sn_zCo_8Sb_{24}$ system.
Varietal differences of grain filling duration and rate are generally recognized in rice (Oryza sativa L.). But the differences of grain filling characteristics between the parts within a panicle might be present since it takes 6-8 days to finish anthesis in a panicle. To elucidate this, 6 Japonica and 6 Japonica/Indica varieties were grown under three nitrogen levels at the Experimental Farm of Chungbuk National University in 1986, and grain filling characteristics of top, middle and bottom parts of a panicle were analyzed. Rice grain filling duration could be divided into 3 phases, i.e., Lag phase(LP) of 5 days after heading. Linear increasing period (LIP) of 5-20 days after heading and Late filling period (LFP) thereafter. Grain weight difference between the panicle parts was greater during LIP in all the varieties and was decreased during LFP. The difference was greater in Japonica/Indica varieties. Samgangbyeo and Seomjinbyeo had the shortest and the longest grain filling durations with 22.6 and 37.1 days, respectively. In average, grain filling duration of the bottom part of a panicle was 1-2 days shorter than that of top or middle part. The differences were negligible in Daecheongbyeo, Taebaegbyeo and Milyang 23, while it was greater in Tongil with 4.9 days. Grain filling rates were ranged from 0.612 to 1.097 mgㆍgrain$^{-1}$ㆍday$^{-1}$ㆍMilyang 23 showed the lowest rate with 0.612-0.682 mgㆍgrain$^{-1}$ㆍday$^{-1}$, while the rates of Baegyangbyeo, Yongmoonbyeo, Samgangbyeo, Nongbaeg and Daeseongbyeo were about 1 mgㆍgrain$^{-1}$ㆍday$^{-1}$ㆍGrain filling rate of bottom part of a panicle was lower than that of top or middle part. The difference was samll in Nongbaeg and Daeseongbyeo, while it was the greatest in Tongil with 0.222 mgㆍgrain$^{-1}$ㆍday$^{-1}$. Grain filling duration and rate were not afftected by nitrogen level, but varietal and spatial differences of grain filling characteristics were highly significant. However, the spatial difference of grain filling rates within a variety was not significant. Grain filling characteristics of each part of a panicle were significantly correlated (r=0.7207-0.9879) with those of a whole panicle.

The filling phase analysis of the injection molding process for thermoplastics was applied to predict pressure, themperature and shear stress in the test mold, and the results were compared with the experiment using 30% glass fiber added ABS resin. The finite difference method was used in the analysis considering the effects of heat transfer between molten polymer and mold wall, and also frictional heating by shear flow. The analysis results were considered as a method to improve the quality and the productivity of injection molding process. Using the analysis results, the molding factors such as mold-ability of polymers, performance of injection molding machine, positioning of gate and dimendsioning of runner in the injection molding process can be estimated at the design stage of mold for good quality and productivity.

In the automatic transmission using planetary gear there exists nonlinearities due to the finite difference between gear ratios, which yield torque hole during shift and influence on the ride quality and life of clutch. Based on the reaction carrier and converter turbine speed sliding functions are defined. Nonlinear closed-loop control laws are derived using them. Computer simulation shows that the closed loop design is better than the open loop design and semi-closed loop design.

The 1-3 piezoelectric composite transducer with 75 volume percents PZT was fabricated by the dicing-filling method. The resonance modes of the 1-3 transducer have been studied with electric impedance measurement as a function of frequency. The fundamental frequencies of the planar and thickness mode were observed at 0.95MHz and 1.63MHz respectively, but the lateral mode was not observed. In the thickness mode, the electromechanical coupling coefficient of the 1-3 piezoelectric composite transducer, 0.54, was very closed to that of the single phase PZT(0.52). The pulse-echo response by exciting the 1-3 transducer with an electric pulse was observed from the water/reflector interface, and analyzed bandwidth by the spectrum of the impulse response. The quality factor Q for the 1-3 transducer was observed as 1.5 smaller than that of the single phase(80) and then the 1-3 transducer may be used to the broad band type transducer applications.

Instrumentation system in Concrete Face Rockfill Dam(CFRD) can give special attention to the deformation characteristics of the rockfill and behavior of the concrete membrane during construction, reservoir filling and subsequent phase of operation. It also contains data about vertical and transversal compressibility moduli of the rockfill, deflections in the concrete slab, and draws comparisons with other concrete face rockfill dams of recent construction. In this paper, the internal deformation data from D dam monitored by means of hydrostatic settlements cells are analyzed. Observations cover the construction stage, reservoir filling and up to March 1991. The above method can be concluded D dam was well constructed and maintained.

The semi-solid processing is now becoming of great interest for the production of various parts by pressure die casting. Also, the rheolory casting has been substituted for thixo casting, because the rheology casting can control the solid particles to globular and non-dendritic solid phase. In the rheology casting process, the important thing is to control the solid particles behavior in semi-solid materials. So in this paper, to control solid particles behavior in semi-solid materials, we experimented about the die filling during the semi-solid die casting in 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0,6 solid fraction. The die filling in semi-solid die casting were simulated by MAGMAsoft/thixo module. By the die filling tests and computer simulation, the effect of solid particles behavior in rheology flow had been investigated.

In this paper we propose a new timing recovery method by means of utilizing service data filling rate instead of timing information of transmitter. A proposed algorithm controls the phase locked loop in the opposite direction ot data filling rate of FIFO in receiver, and it is based on the fact that average of cell jitters is zero. The proposed method is simple compared with timing information method of transmitter. It can be utilized for timing recovery in synchronous digital hierarchy as well as in plesiochronous digial hierarchy without common reference clocks in end-to-end erminals. We implement the interactive video communication system and test the proposed algorithm. As a result, we hav econfirmed that it yields good perfomrnces in terms of jitters characteristics and hardware complexity.
