The WILDHABER-NOVIKOV gear, one of the circular arc gears, has the large contact area between the convex and concave profiled mating teeth, moves from one end of the tooth to the other axially making a face contact. Hence it provides a large load capacity than the Involute gear and still satisfying the law of gearing. In order to analyze the gear stress, a photoelastic investigation was carried out. Photo elastic model of the WILDHABER-NOVIKOV gears were made of Araldite CT200 in this investigation. For both the many teeth gear and the few teeth gear segments, External gears of all addendum type WILDHABER-NOVIKOV gear and the involute gear were tested. Included were the models with various profile raddi at the same pressure angle 20 .deg. and module 13.5. The flank stresses and fillet stresses of these gears were observed in each case and compared with those of gears. From this investigation, the following results were obtained. A. In the case of having many teeth gear: As the profile radius is increased, the fillet stresses of the WILDHABER-NOVIKOV gear become the same or less than that of the INVOLUTE gea, and the flank stress becomes smaller than that of the INVOLUTE gear. Therefore the better design condition is satisfied with a large profile radius. B. IN the case of having a few teeth gear: As the profile radius is increased the flank stress of WILDHABER-NOVIKOV gear becomes smaller than that of the INVOLUTE gear, but the fillet stresses become larger than that of the INVOLUTE gear. Therefore the larger design condition is satisfied with small profile radius.

Industrial reducer is in general use to Deck Crane. High-precision and high-efficient reducer is minimized the power-loss and energy-loss of a machine. So it contribute the price reduction and life extension. Reducer is usually using the Planetary gear reducer. Planetary gear reducer is composed the sun gear, planet gear, internal gear and casing. Industrial reducer's wear and breakage have a short-life. To solve this problem, it is using the profile-shifted-gear or tooth modification. This study was carried out the effect of addendum modification coefficient on tooth fillet bending strength to planetary reducer. Tooth fillet bending stress is calculate. And all parameter were expressed the function of addendum modification coefficient. And then stress concentration factor of tooth fillet curve was express the function of addendum modification coefficient using comparison between theory and finite element analysis.

In this study, fatigue strength of load-carrying cruciform fillet welded joints were evaluated using a new method proposed by Yamada, for geometric or structural stress in welded joint, that is, one-millimeter stress below the surface in the direction corresponding to the expected crack path. Validity of the method is verified by analyzing fatigue test results for load-carrying cruciform welded specimens has different size of weld toe radius, leg length and plate thickness reported in literature. Structural stress concentration factor for 1mm below the surface was calculated by finite element analysis for each specimen respectively. When compared to the basic fatigue resistance curve offered by BS7608, the one-millimeter stress method shows conservative evaluation for load-carrying cruciform fillet welded joints.

The stress concentration factor gives the significant effect the fatigue strength of welded joints. The model used herein is the type of the load carrying fillet welded cruciform joint with full or partial penetration. In order to obtain the stress concentration factor at the weld toe of fillet joint, the reasonable element size of the toe part is investigated and the stress analysis for the series models by FEM under tensile load is performed. On the basis of the calculation results, the estimated formulae for the stress concentration factor(Kt) at weld toe part of the fillet welded joint, which the effect of toe radius, flank angle and other parameters are taken into account, is derived.

In a new involute-circular arc tooth profile which is composed of an involute curve in the vicinity of pitch point, a circular arc in the addendum part, and a curve in the dedendum part which is generated by the circular arc profile of mating gear tooth profile, the tooth contact stress is calculated analytically and the root fillet stress is calculated by the finite element analysis. The root fillet stress and the Hertzian contact stress of composite tooth profile gear are decreased with increasing the pressure angle and with decreasing the radius of circular arc and unwound angle. Compared with the standard involute gear, the root fillet stress is decreased by 2-15% and the Hertizian contact stress is decreased by 6-24%.
The use of welding process has been increased for manufacture of machine, bridges, ships, gas facilities and so on together with development of welding technique. Accordingly, it has been needed to develop the welding methods considering higher productivity and safety design for manufacture of their welding structures. In this study, it was studied basically on characteristics of fatigue strength and fatigue life in full penetrated cruciform fillet weld zone in relation to material thickness, welding passes, loading direction and notch radius of toe zone. Most of fatigue failure occurred in toe zone of cruciform fillet weld joint. Fatigue strength and fatigue life are under the influence of stress concentration due to notch radius and flank angle of toe zone. The metal of toe zone annealed and diffused by multi-layer welding and acicular ferrite structure formed by the result improved fatigue strength and fatigue life.

The 4-point bending tests have been performed In order to estimate the effect of TIG-dressing on fatigue strength and fatigue characteristics quantitatively for non load-carrying fillet welded joints subjected to pure bending. As a result of fatigue tests, fatigue strengths of as-welded specimens have satisfied the grade of fatigue strength prescribed in specifications of korea, AASHTO and JSSC. Fatigue strength at 2 million cycles of TIG-dressing specimens have increased compared with as-welded specimens. As the result of beachmark tests, fatigue cracks occurred at several points, where the radius of curvature and flank angle in the weld bead toes were low, and grew as semi-elliptical cracks, then approached to fracture. As a result of finite element analysis, stress concentration factor in weld bead toes has closely related to the flank angle and radius of curvature, and between these, the radius of curvature has more largely affected in stress concentration factor than flank angle. As a result of fracture mechanics approaches, the crack correction factor of test specimens has largely affected on stress gradient correction factor in case a/t is below 0.4. From the relations between stress intensity factor range estimated from FEM analysis and fatigue crack growth rate, fatigue life has been correctly calculated.

Magnesium alloy sheets are usually formed at temperatures between $150^{\circ}C$and $300^{\circ}C$ because of their poor formability at room temperature. In the present study, the formability of AZ31B magnesium alloy sheets was investigated by the analytical and experimental approaches. First, tensile tests and the limit dome height test were carried out at elevated temperatures to get the mechanical properties and forming limit diagram, respectively. And then deep drawing of cross shaped die was tried to get the minimum corner radius and forming limit at specific temperature. Blank shape, punch velocity, minimum corner radius, fillet size, etc, were determined by finite element analysis physical try-outs. Especially, optimum punch and die temperature were suggested through the temperature-deformation analysis using Pam-stamp.

Large-scale flooding due to extreme weather and typhoons causes heavy damage. This is especially true in urban areas where accumulated debris prevents the smooth drainage of rainwater in sewage facilities such as rain gutters installed near roads. In this study, to improve the drainage performance and effectively remove foreign substances by applying the dust screen used in rivers, the rain gutter with Coanda effect was simulated and compared with the experiment. The simulation was performed by setting the parameters to the fillet radius R1 and R2 at the top of the screen filter, the fillet radius R3 at the bottom of the screen filter, and the height H of the gap W from the bottom. W is the gap at the backside of screen filter which is applied to stimulate the Coanda effect. According to the simulation results, the highest drain performance was 87.99% derived from R1= 30mm, R2= 5mm, R3= 85mm, H= 75mm, and W= 2mm. The error rate of simulation results refer to the 4.89%~7.36% compared to the experimental results. In the future, by considering the slope according to the installation environment, the simulation results can be applied to the actual roadside to help prevent flood damage.
