Physical-based Dye-sensitized Solar Cell Equivalent Circuit Modeling and Performance Analysis (물리 기반의 염료 감응형 태양전지 등가회로 모델링 및 성능 분석)

  • In this paper, a dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC), one of the representative third-generation solar cells with eco-friendly materials and processes compared to other solar cells, was modeled using MATLAB/Simulink. The simulation was conducted by designating values of series resistance, parallel resistance, light absorption coefficient, and thin film electrode thickness, which are directly related to the efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cells, as arbitrary experimental values. In order to analyze the performance of dye-sensitized solar cells, the optimal value among each parameter experimental value related to efficiency was found using formulas for fill factor (FF) and conversion efficiency.

Installation Damage Reduction Factor for Geosynthetics Reinforcements Based on Various Full-Scale Field Installation Tests (다양한 현장내시공성시험에 근거한 토목섬유 보강재의 시공성 감소계수 평가)

  • In this paper, to investigate the influence of installation damage, a variety of full-scale field installation tests with 15 geosynthetics reinforcements and fill materials of various grain size distribution have been performed. The full-scale field installation test was conducted with reference to the FHWA (2009) guidelines. The tensile strength tests were performed by sampling up to 20 specimens randomly from the excavated geosynthetics reinforcements after compaction of fill material, and the degree of decrease in tensile strength of reinforcements due to compaction was analyzed based on the experiment results. It was found that the degree of tensile strength reduction of geosynthetics reinforcements due to the compaction of fill material is greatly influenced by the type of reinforcement and the maximum diameter of fill material. In addition, it was found that the strength reduction ratio of PET geogrid (PVC coating) with relatively small stiffness was greatest, and that the larger the maximum grain size of the fill material, the greater the strength reduction ratio. And also, a more reasonable evaluation method for the installation damage reduction factor of geosynthetics reinforcements is proposed based on the results of full-scale field installation tests in present study and the existing test results.

  • 일본 Sanyo 사에 의해서 획기적으로 HIT 태양전지가 개발된 바 있다. 이러한 HIT 태양전지는 기존의 확산-접합 Si 태양전지에 비해서 저비용 고효율의 장점을 갖는다: 22% 이상의 변환효율, $200^{\circ}C$ 이하의 공정온도, 낮은 태양전지 온도 의존도, 높은 개방전압. 한편 Sanyo사의 HIT 태양전지는 n-형 Si 웨이퍼를 이용한 반면에, 최근 미국 National Renewable Energy Laboratory는 p-형 Si 웨이퍼를 이용해서 변환효율 19% 대의 HIT 태양전지를 개발한 바 있다. 그 동안 지속적으로 p-형 Si HIT 태양전지를 고효율화하기(< 22%) 위해서 많은 노력이 진행되어 왔지만 이와 같은 노력에도 불구하고 아직 p-형 HIT는 n-형 HIT 태양전지에 비해서 다소 성능면에서 떨어져 있다. 본 연구는 n- 및 p-형 실리콘 웨이퍼로 구성된 HIT 태양전지의 물리적인 차이점에 초점을 맞추고, 결정 및 비정질 실리콘 층의 역할에 대해서 연구하였다. 특히 태양전지 효율을 향상시키는 요소들로서 결정 실리콘의 불순물 준위(n- 및 p-형) 또는 비저항, 비정질 실리콘으로 구성된 emitter 층, intrinsic 층, 경계면이 고려되었다. 그리고 이러한 요소들이 HIT 태양전지에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위해서 AMPS-1D 컴퓨터 프로그램을 사용하였고, 이를 통해서 HIT 태양전지의 결정 및 비정질 실리콘 층의 역할을 물리적 정량적으로 분석하였다. 본 연구에 적용되는 HIT는 ITO/a-Si:H(p+)/a-Si:H(i)/c-Si(n)/a-Si:H(i)/a-Si:H(n+) 및 ITO/a-Si:H(n+)/a-Si:H(i)/c-Si(p)/a-Si:H(i)/a-Si:H(p+)의 구조로서 다음과 같은 태양전지 특성을 갖는다: n-형 HIT의 경우, fill factor ~ 0.78, 단락전류밀도 ~ 38.1 $mA/cm^2$, 개방전압 0.74 V, 변환효율 22.3 % (그리고 p-형 HIT의 경우, fill factor ~ 0.76, 단락전류밀도 ~ 36.5 $mA/cm^2$, 개방전압 0.69 V, 변환효율 19.4 %).

Study on the Long-term Reliability of Photovoltaic Module in the Cell level (태양전지의 Cell 레벨에서의 장기 신뢰성에 관한 연구)

  • 본 연구는 고온고습 시험을 통하여 Cell 레벨에서의 표면관찰 및 효율저하를 분석하였다. 고온고습 시험 조건은 KS C IEC-61215에서 제시한 PV module하의 조건을 이용하여 온도 $85^{\circ}C$, 습도 85% 조건하에 1000시간 동안 수행하였다. 고온고습 시험에 따라 효율에 직접적인 영향을 줄 수 있는 이상 유 무를 Cell 표면을 통해 분석한 결과, 고온고습 시험 수행 중 부분적으로 변색되는 것을 확인하였다. 고온고습 시험 전 단결정 Cell의 효율은 17.74% 였으며, 1000시간 수행 후 15.63%으로 11.89%의 감소율을 보였다. 다결정 Cell의 시험 전 효율은 15.46%, 1000시간 수행 후 효율은 14.02%로 9.31%의 감소율을 보였다. 경년 시 나타나는 전기적 특성을 분석하기 위해 FF(Fill Factor)값을 분석한 결과, 고온고습 시험 전 단결정 Cell은 78.71%에서 75.01%로 4.7%의 감소율을 보였으며, 다결정 Cell은 78.10 %에서 76.66%로 1.84%의 감소율을 보였다. 효율 및 FF값에서 단결정 Cell이 다결정 Cell보다 감소율이 큰 것으로 분석되었으며, 이는 단결정 Cell이 외부 환경에서 더욱 크게 작용하여 효율저하에 영향을 주었다고 판단된다.

결정질 실리콘 태양전지에서 RF-PECVD를 이용한 실리콘 질화막의 패시베이션 향상 연구

  • RF-PECVD 장치에 의해 증착된 실리콘 질화막(SiNx)은 결정질 실리콘 태양전지에서 반사 방지막 효과 및 우수한 표면 패시베이션 특성을 제공하는 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 논문에서는 실리콘 질화막의 패시베이션 특성을 향상시키기 위해서 공정온도를 $400^{\circ}C$로 고정하고 공정압력, 가스비, RF (radio frequency) power를 가변하였다. 이 때의 실리콘 질화막의 굴절률 및 두께는 각각 2.0, 80 nm로 증착하여 그에 따른 특성에 대해 분석하였다. 공정 압력이 감소할수록 실리콘 질화막이 증착된 결정질 실리콘 태양전지의 유효 반송자 수명이 증가함을 보였고, 반면에 증착속도는 감소하였다. 또한 RF-power 500 W에서 실리콘 질화막이 증착된 결정질 실리콘 태양전지의 유효 반송자 수명이 상대적으로 높았으며 출력이 올라갈수록 증착속도가 증가하였다. 결과적으로 결정질 실리콘 태양전지에 증착한 실리콘 질화막은 0.8torr 공정 압력과 RF-power 500 W에서 $38.8{\mu}s$로 가장 좋은 유효 반송자 수명을 확인하였다. 위의 결과를 바탕으로 결정질 실리콘 태양전지를 제작하였고 향상된 패시베이션 특성을 갖는 실리콘 질화막의 조건을 찾기 위해서 개방전압(open circuit voltage)을 비교하였다. 공정압력 0.8 torr, RF-power 500 W에서 가장 높은 결과를 보였으며 이는 유효 반송자 수명과 유사한 결과를 나타냈다. 하지만 낮은 FF (fill factor)로 인해 변환 효율이 낮은 결과를 보였다. 태양전지 제작시 낮은 fill factor를 보인 이유와 위의 단점을 보완하기 위해 추가 실험을 수행하였으며, 개선된 fill factor를 통해 18.3% 효율의 태양전지를 제작하였다.

Comparison of Electrical Properties and AFM Images of DSSCs with Various Sintering Temperature of TiO2 Electrodes (TiO2 전극의 소결 온도에 따른 DSSCs의 전기적 특성 및 AFM 형상 비교)

  • In order to improve the efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC), $TiO_2$ electrode screen-printed on transparent conducting oxide (TCO) substrate was sintered in variation with different temperature$(350\;to\;550^{\circ}C)$. $TiO_2$ electrode on fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO) glass was assembled with Pt counter electrode on FTO glass. I-V properties of DSSCs were measured under solar simulator. Also, effect of sintering temperature on surface morphology of $TiO_2$ films was investigated to understand correlation between its surface morphology and sintering temperature. Such surface morphology was observed by atomic force microscopy (AFM). Below sintering temperature of $500^{\circ}C$, efficiency of DSSCs was relatively lower due to lower open circuit voltage. Oppositely, above sintering temperature of $500^{\circ}C$, efficiency of DSSCs was relatively higher due to higher open circuit voltage. In both cases, lower fill factor (FF) was observed. However, at sintering temperature of $500^{\circ}C$, both efficiency and fill factor of DSSCs were mutually complementary, enhancing highest fill factor and efficiency. Such results can be explained in comparison of surface morphology with schematic diagram of energy states on the $TiO_2$ electrode surface. Consequently, it was considered that optimum sintering temperature of a-terpinol included $TiO_2$ paste is at $500^{\circ}C$.

  • The automotive society is facing many challenges in minimizing the energy loss to improve performance and fuel economy of the vehicle. This work "Implement of Power Density for AC Generator Using a Fill Factor of Slot" is a research in Electrical Generator design, to improve power density of Alternator used in conventional IC engine powered vehicles. The power density of the alternator directly influences the fuel economy and performance in the motor vehicle. The size and weight of the alternator can be reduced by suitably designing power density of alternator. The simulation model of alternator is made and tested for different stator space factor using solid and round conductor to demonstrate the improvement in the output performance and efficiency. The result shows that there is an average 10% improvement in efficiency of alternator by using the solid conductor. The energy balance of the system also increased SOC in the base model.

Incident Light Intensity Dependences of Current Voltage Characteristics for Amorphous Silicon pin Solar Cells (비정질실리콘 pin태양전지에서 입사광 세기에 따른 전류 저압특성)

  • The dependence of the current-voltage characteristics of hydrogenated amorphous silicon pin solar cells on the illumimination light intensity has been investigated. The open circuit voltage increases linearly with increasing the logarithm of light intensity up to AM 1, and nearly saturates above AM 1, indicating the open circuit voltage approaching the built-in potential of the pin solar cell above AM 1. The short circuit current density increase with light intensity in proportion to I**0.85 before and I**0.97 after light exposure. Since the series resistance devreses and shunt resistance increases with light intensily, the fill factor increases with light illumination. To increase the fill factor at high illumination in large area solar cells, t6he grid pattern on the ITO substrates should be made. Long light exposure on the solar cells gives rise to the increase of bulk resistance and defect states, resulting in the decrease of the fil factor and short circuit current density. The potential drop in the bulk of the a-Si:H pin solar cells at short circuit condition increases with decreasing temperature, and increases after long light exposure.

Evaluation and Prediction of Failure Factors by Quantification Theory(II) on Banking Slopes in Forest Road (수량화(數量化)II류(類)에 의한 임도(林道) 성토사면(盛土斜面)의 붕괴요인(崩壞要人) 평가 (評價) 및 예측(豫測))

  • On the basis of data obtained from five forest roads collapsed due to a heavy rainfall of 1995 in Chunchon, Kangwon-do, this study was carried out to evaluate and predict the fill slope failure of forest roads with four factors of forest road structure and those of location condition by using Quantification theory(II). The results were summarized as follows ; In the structure factors of forest road, the fill slope failure was mainly occurred in longitudinal gradients less than $2^{\circ}$ or more than $4^{\circ}$, distance of surface-flow longer than 80m, fill slope length greater than 6m, and fill slope gradients steeper than $35^{\circ}$. In the factors of location condition, the failure was mainly occurred in ridge portion of road position, weathered rock and soft rock of constituent material, slope gradients in the range from $35^{\circ}$ to $45^{\circ}$, and concave and convex of longitudinal slope forms. The priority order for factors influencing on fill slope failure was ranked by fill slope length, constituent material, road position, and so on. And the rate of correct discrimination by analysis of fill slope failure was estimated at the high prediction of 86.5%.

  • Stability analysis of the embankment as to water level varation is the most important problem in the safety of the slope because the stress of embankment inside varies as to drawdown of seepage line. Especially when the water level is rapidly drawdown, because the flow direction of the free surface changes the toe of embankment, the factor of safety comes to small, therefore the embankment is dangered. For the purpose of studing these phenomena, the experimental models are built with sand in the laboratory. In the experimental consideration, the falling seepage line and the shape of failure are measured. This paper intends to study the failure slip surface, the relationship between the factor of safety and drawdown velocity, and hydraulic gradient. The results of the experimental study are summarized as follows; 1. Owing to the drawdown of free surface, sliding failure occurred in the upstream fill, the height of failure is 5~10, 9~15, and 13~21(cm) in each model. 2. In consideration of the distribution of pore water pressure Table-5 shows each factor of safety. In the relationship between the drawdown velocity and the factor of factor it's velocity should be limited to 0.21~0.28 (cm/sec), according to each models. In the relationship between the factor of safety and the hydraulic gradient within the upstream slope, it's gradient must be below 0.36~0.43.
