A DTC Stator Flux Algorithm for the Performance Improvement of Induction Traction Motors

  • In view of the speed control characteristics of induction traction motors and the problems of direct torque control (DTC) algorithms in current applications, this paper presents a DTC algorithm characterized by a symmetrical polygon flux control and a closed loop power control in the constant-torque base speed region and constant-power field-weakening region of induction traction motors. This algorithm only needs to add a stator flux control algorithm to the traditional DTC structures. This has the benefit of simplicity, while maintaining the features of traditional algorithms such as a rapid dynamic response, uncomplicated control circuit, reduced dependence on motor parameters, etc. In addition, it obtains a smoother flux trajectory that is conducive to improvement of the harmonic elimination capability, the switching frequency utilization as well as the torque and power performance in the field-weakening region. The effectiveness and feasibility of this DTC algorithm are demonstrated by both theoretical analysis and experimental results.

  • This paper compared with field weakening operation methods for the spindle motor of machine tool in which high speed drive is required. The maximum torque field weakening algorithm ensures the full utilization of the output torque capability of the machine over 1/Wr method. From simulation, the validity of the Max_Te method is confirmed. It is verified that the Max-Te algorithm provided the improved torque capability over 1/Wr method. So, It is applicable to provide high performance control involving fast acceleration and precise speed control for the adjustable speed drive system of spindle.

  • 약계자 영역에서 토크는 자속에 직접적으로 영향을 받는다. 이 영역에서는 자속준위는 회전자 속도에 대하여 반비례로 감소시킨다. 자속이 감소함에 따라 자화인덕턴스는 증가하게 된다. 자회인덕턴스는 전류를 제어하기 위한 접압을 제한한다. 본 노문에서는 약계자 영역에서 q-축전압을 측정함으로써 자화인덕턴스의 변화를 계산하며, 이에 따라 기준 자화전류를 재조정한다. 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션 실험결과를 통하여 제안한 방법을 입증한다. 본 연구에서 제안한 알고리즘은 방적기계등의 적용분야의 가변속 구동시스템에 활용이 기대된다.

  • In case of field weakening region torque is directly affected by flux. In this region the flux reference is decreased inversely proportional to the rotor speed. As the flux is decreased the magnetizing inductance is normally increased. The increased magnetizing inductance limited voltage for controlling current. In this paper, measuring q axis voltage in field weakening region magnetizing inductance in flux calculating can be readjusted. Computer simulation and experiment results demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method. Proposed algorithm is expected to the application of the adjustable drive system in the spinning and weaving field.

  • In this paper, the new flux weakening contol algorithm for the drive system of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(IPMSM) is proposed which includes the feedback of torque and current The torque error is used in order to control the current phase angle in the field weakening control. The proposed control method is compared with the stator flux oriented vector control method. Through the simulation the prominence of the proposed control method is verified.

  • The paper proposes instantaneous torque control of IPMSM for maximum torque drive of torque and current plane. The control scheme is based on the mathematical model of the motor and is applicable to the constant torque and field weakening operations. The scheme allows the motor to be driven with maximum torque per ampere(MTPA) characteristic below base speed and it maintains the maximum voltage limit of the motor wide field weakening and the motor current limit under all conditions of operation accurately. For each control mode, a condition that determines the optimal d-axis current $^id$ for maximum torque operation is derived. The proposed control algorithm is applied to IPMSM drive system for drive of wide speed range, the operating characteristics controlled that maximum torque control are examined in detail by simulation.

  • The induction motor is used for driving the special equipments such as warship and submarine pump due to robust structure and simple maintenance. Domestic and foreign warships use a wide range of voltages and the DC voltage sources mainly from battery. In the low voltage level, the ${\Delta}$-connection operation of induction motor can be used for the maximum power. However, the temperature of the inverter increases because of the high input current. On the other hand, Y-connection operation of the induction motor does not cause a problem of temperature because of the low input current compared to the ${\Delta}$-connection. But the lack of the supply voltage can not be avoided. Therefore, this paper suggests the algorithm of the optimum field weakening control to extend the operating range of the induction motor with maximum power in a limited thermal and DC voltage condition.

  • A load motor used for warship or submarine is with limited volume and weight, also specific environmental tests like impact, vibration, noise, temperature and EMC/EMI have to be satisfied. Induction motors, synchronous motors, BLDC motor and etc, are used depending on the purpose of using military equipment. Induction Motors are used for a number of military equipment more commonly due to the robust structure and simple maintenance. Domestic and foreign warships have a wide range of voltages as the DC voltage sources with battery are mainly used for them. The ${\Delta}-connection$ operation of the induction motor is required to make the maximum power in a low voltage level. But the elements' temperature of the inverter increases due to high input current when it is in the ${\Delta}-connection$ operation. Therefore, the induction motor must be driven with the Y-connection. The lack of voltage needs to be with the field weakening control. This paper suggests the optimum field weakening control algorithm to drive the induction motor with maximum power in a limited thermal and DC voltage condition.

  • This paper describes current controlled PWM technique of IPM synchronous motors for a wide variety of speed control applications. They are however limited in their ability to operate in the power limited regime where the available torque is reduced as the speed is increased above its base value. This paper reviews the operation of the IPMSM drives when they are constrained to be within the permissible envelope of maximum inverter voltage and current to produce the rated power and to provide this with the highest attainable rotor speed. This paper proposes a new field-weakening control algorithm using phase current feedback to improve the torque characteristics and to reduce the torque ripple of IPMSM in the constant power region. The improved torque characteristics of speed control strategy with current feedback control algorithm is analyzed and the performance is investigated by the computer simulation results.
