머리들기 운동이 뇌졸중 환자의 연하 능력에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of Head-lift Exercise on Swallowing Function in Patients with Stroke)

  • PURPOSE: We aimed to study the effect of head-lift exercise on the neck strength and swallowing function in patients with stroke. METHODS: Our study included 20 patients with stroke hemiparesis. All patients were randomly allocated to either the head-lift exercise or the conventional swallowing therapy group, and each group included 10 patients. All patients underwent the exercise over a mean period of 30 min daily for 6 weeks. Neck strength and swallowing function were assessed prior to and 6 weeks following the training period. We used a paired t-test to compare the within-group change before and after the intervention. We used an independent t-test to compare the between-group difference. The statistical significance level was set at ${\alpha}=.05$ for all variables. RESULTS: The head-lift exercise group showed a significant within-group change in terms of the neck strength and swallowing function (p<.05). The conventional swallowing therapy group also showed a statistically significant change (p<.05). A statistically significant difference was observed between the head-lift exercise and the conventional swallowing therapy group with regard to the change in both, the neck strength and swallowing function after application of the intervention (p<.05). CONCLUSION: This study provides valuable information for future studies in this field. Further studies involving a wider range of patients and a longer experiment span are required to strengthen the results of our study.

  • Objective : We examined the literature of <Life Nurturing Method and Conduction Exercise(養生方導引法)> of 《Pathogenesis and Manifestations of Food Stagnation and Indigestion(宿食不消病諸候)》 in 『Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Manifestations of All Diseases(諸病源候論)』 and actually implement its movement to present conduction exercise based on the principle of Korean medicine treatment. Method : We used web services for traditional Eastern Asian medical classics and some literature on 『Treatise on the Pathogenesis and Manifestations of All Diseases(諸病源候論)』 and its <Life Nurturing Method and Conduction Exercise(養生方導引法)〉. The original text was interpreted and the movements of <Life Nurturing Method and Conduction Exercise> were implemented according to the literature. A qi-gong(氣功) expert demonstrated the movements and we took pictures. Results : <Life Nurturing Method and Conduction Exercise(養生方導引法)> was written in the symptom of Food Stagnation and Indigestion(宿食不消候) and the symptom of food damage and excessive eating(食傷飽候) among the chapters of 《Pathogenesis and Manifestations of Food Stagnation and Indigestion(宿食不消病諸候)》. With respect to the movements and breathing, stretching your back allows qi(氣) energy to enter the lower cinnabar field(下丹田) immediately, and when the lower stomach is full of qi it can be transported upper body, leading to better communication of qi around the body. Conclusion : The practical implementation of the movements and postures will contribute to understanding the characteristics, pathology, and contents of diseases related to indigestion, and furthermore it can be widely used clinically for prevention and treatment of digestive disorders.

사용자 정보 분석 기반 모바일 피트니스 시스템 (Mobile Fitness System based User Information Analysis)

  • 현대 사회는 건강한 삶에 대한 사람들의 관심이 깊어지고 있다. 이에 따라 건강과 관련된 연구 및 서비스 개발이 진행되고 있는 실정이다. 이를 위해 IT 분야에서는 의료 분야의 정보를 활용한 헬스케어 시스템들이 개발되고 있다. 개발된 시스템들은 PC 및 스마트 TV를 활용하거나 스마트 폰을 이용하여 사용자에게 의료 분야의 정보 및 운동과 관련된 정보를 제공해주지만 사용자의 신체 정보를 정확히 분석하는 알고리즘이나 시스템은 개발 단계인 실정이다. 이를 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 사용자의 BMI(Body Mass Index) 지수와 BMR(Basal Metabolic Rate) 수치를 분석하여 사용자에게 정보를 제공하는 시스템을 제안한다. 사용자에게 제공하는 정보는 기존의 피트니스 시스템들처럼 움직임을 감지하고 이로 인해 소모한 칼로리 값을 보여주는 것과 달리 사용자의 신체에 적절한 운동 강도, 적정 수준의 운동량, 적합한 운동 기구를 추천해준다. 이로 인해 사용자는 추천 받은 정보를 기반으로 효율적인 운동을 진행할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

비만학생을 위한 건강증진프로그램의 제안 (A Proposal of Health Promotion Program for Overweight Schoolchildren)

  • This study was conducted to contribute to the expansion of activity areas for school nurses in the field of health promotion services whose importance are increasing daily. To achieve such goals the researcher proposed that health promotion programs for obesity management in overweight schoolchildren conducted by literature review to apply to school settings. In this program, the principal components developed a behavior modification program and an exercise program, which could be educated and managed by a nursing staff during for 9 weeks, three times per week, 60 minutes each. The program consisted of exercise, health education. health counseling, and a direct nursing care. This kind of approach may support the need of behavior modification programs and exercise programs on a regular base via the social organization, which may mean an intentional change of life style. A comprehensive approach to health promotion services proposed by this research would contribute greatly to the effectiveness of school health services and to promote health in overweight schoolchildren.

현장교수의 역할증진 방안 (A Device to Enhance of the Field Professor's Roles in the KNAC's Field Exercise Course.)

  • This study was carried out to prepare some devices for the development the field professor's roll of the Korea National Agricultural College(KNAC). In this study, we had visited and interviewed twenty-four KNAC's field professors. Through this our experience of study, we could suggest several development devices of the roles of KNAC's field professor, so the results of this study as follows : (1) Main roles of the field professors could be classified into 4 categories, with these desirable aspects could be deducted. (2) Selecting the good field professors is an important work, so that we prepared a comprehensive checking list to be used to select the desirable field professor. (3) In order to enhance the selected field professor's roles and activities, workshop for the professors, orientation training for the students and various supporting activities should be well organized with recognizing those as the important factors.

지구력 훈련이 혈중 호모시스테인과 비타민 B 수준에 미치는 영향 -남자 고등학생 필드하키선수를 대상으로- (Effect of Endurance Training on the Plasma Honocysteine and B Vitamin Levels in Male Adolescent Field Hockey Players)

  • Elevated plasma homocysteine is an independent risk factor for the development of cardiovascular disease. Exercise is generally believed to reduce the plasma homocysteine levels and therefore, being beneficial for cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, there is a possibility that athletes undergoing strenuous training and competition which increase oxidative stress may suffer from increased plasma homocysteine levels. The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of endurance training on the plasma concentrations of B vitamins and homocysteine in 23 male adolescent field hockey players. Data collection and blood sampling was performed during the training period and non-training period. Following the training period, significant changes in energy and vitamin B6 intakes were observed in these subjects. Plasma vitamin B2, pyridoxal phosphate (PLP) and homocysteine levels were significantly higher during the training period than non-training period, whereas no difference was observed in plasma folate and vitamin B12 levels. Positive correlation was observed between plasma folate and folic acid intakes. When energy, B vitamin intakes were adjusted there was a significant negative correlation between plasma homocysteine levels and plasma riboflavin, folate and vitamin B12 levels. In conclusion, it is suggested that athletes with oxidative stress by strenuous exercise may need B vitamins since riboflavin, folic acid and vitamin Bl2 were shown to be negatively correlated with plasma homocysteine in athletes during the training period.

  • 유산소성 운동수행능력의 필드테스트로 대표되는 셔틀런 테스트와 요요테스트를 최대산소섭취량 및 다른 주행테스트들과 비교 검토함으로써 대학 축구선수들의 심폐지구력을 평가하는 유효한 필드테스트를 제안하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 셔틀런 테스트는 휴식구간이 없이 지속적으로 달려야 하는 반면 요요 테스트의 경우 휴식구간이 설정되어 있어 휴식기를 활용하여 컨디션을 조절하며 주행한다는 특성이 있다. 따라서 요요테스트는 주행과 회복을 반복하는 간헐적 운동을 주로 하는 축구선수들의 종목 특성을 고려한 심폐기능 평가 시 보다 효율적인 현장검사로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

Mechanics behind Breast Cancer Prevention - Focus on Obesity, Exercise and Dietary Fat

  • Cancer prevention is rapidly emerging as a major strategy to reduce cancer mortality. In the field of breast cancer, significant strides have recently been made in the understanding of underlying preventive mechanisms. Currently, three major strategies have been linked to an increase in breast cancer risk: obesity, lack of physical exercise, and high levels of saturated dietary fat. As a result, prevention strategies for breast cancer are usually centered on these lifestyle factors. Unfortunately, there remains controversy regarding epidemiological studies that seek to determine the benefit of these lifestyle changes. We have identified crucial mechanisms that may help clarify these conflicting studies. For example, recent reports with olive oil have demonstrated that it may influence crucial transcription factors and reduce breast tumor aggressiveness by targeting HER2. Similarly, physical exercise reduces sex hormone levels, which may help protect against breast cancer. Obesity promotes tumor cell growth and cell survival through upregulation of leptin and insulin-like growth factors. This review seeks to discuss these underlying mechanisms, and more behind the three major prevention strategies, as a means of understanding how breast cancer can be prevented.

물리치료 분야에서 인공지능 및 바이오센싱 기술의 현장적용 및 전망에 관한 연구: 맞춤형 재활치료를 중심으로 (A Study on the Field Application and Prospect of Artificial Intelligence and Bio-Sensing Technology in Physical Therapy: Focusing on Customized Rehabilitation Treatment)

  • PURPOSE: This study analyzed the impact of AI and biosensors on physical therapy, identifying the stage of customized technology development and future prospects. AI and biosensors improve the efficiency, establish customized treatment plans, and expand patient treatment opportunities. The study employed a literature review by searching databases and collecting research. METHODS: This study searched various databases related to the topic, collected existing research, papers, and reports, evaluated the literature, and summarize the results. RESULTS: Exercise therapy utilizing artificial intelligence can provide personalized and optimal exercise plans while monitoring rehabilitation progress. In addition, biosensors such as EMG sensors and accelerometers can monitor the individual progress in physical therapy, particularly in stroke patients, which can help improve physical therapy strategy and promote patient recovery. CONCLUSION: This study suggested that artificial intelligence can be applied in many areas of physical therapy, such as exercise therapy, customized treatment plans, rehabilitation and management, pain management, neuro rehabilitation, and auxiliary devices. Using AI technology, it is possible to analyze and improve exercise and posture, retrain the central nervous system, establish customized treatment plans for individual patients, predict and compare patient progress before and after treatment, and provide customized pain analysis and treatment methods. In addition, AI can provide neuro rehabilitation programs and customized auxiliary devices.

복부 드로우-인 기법을 동반한 슬링 운동이 젊은 여성의 복부 근육들의 두께에 미치는 영향 (Effect of the Sling Exercise With Abdominal Drawing-In Maneuver on Thickness of Abdominal Muscles in Young Women)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the influence of a sling suspension exercise with abdominal drawing-in maneuver (ADIM) on the thickness of abdominal muscles. Method: Twenty healthy young women volunteered for this study, and they were randomly assigned to either the control group or experimental group. Subjects of both groups performed the ADIM in standard method. And subjects of the experimental group underwent a structured sling exercises additionally, which consists of bridging exercise on supine, elbow support and trunk control exercise on prone, and trunk flexion exercises. The exercises were performed thirty minutes per day, 3 times a week for a 4-week period. Thickness of abdominal muscles (transverse abdominis; TrA, internal obliques; IO and external obliques; EO) was measured by using real-time ultrasonography. Results: After the intervention, subjects of the experimental group appeared to be significantly increased for the thickness of the TrA (p<.05). However, significant difference weren't found for the IO and EO (p>.05). Conclusion: These findings suggest that sling suspension exercise with the ADIM may be favorably used to augment trunk stabilizing effort by increasing TrA thickness. Further studies need in this field.
