This study was to analyze characteristics of soils reinforced by FPF(Fibrillated Polypropylene Fiber). Laboratory test, model test and field tests were performed on soils reinforced by fibers, to evaluate the shear strength characteristics. For the silty sand, clayey sand and silty clay, the influence of fiber shape, fiber length and fiber content were evaluated from compaction test, direct shear test, uniaxial test, california bearing ratio(CBR) test. Fibrillated type fiber, 5cm long with a content of 0.5% shows 5∼30% increase of friction angle and 7∼55 percent increase of CBR value.
Dietary fiber imparts both mutritional and functional properties to foods. This review deals with (1) the classification of dietary fiber, (2) the plant cell wall models, (3) the relations between structure and physicochemical and functional properties of dietary fiber and (4) the applications of dietary fiber in foods. Dietary fiber can be classified in terms of source, plant function, solubility, charge and topology. Plant cell wall models are presented to provide information on the interconnections of dietary fiber components which determines the content of soluble and insoluble dietary fiber content. In reality, physicochemical and functional properties of dietary fiber originate factors such as chemical constituents , charge, branching degree, conformation and etc. Dietary fibers possess a variety of functional properties in food systems, which thus make them useful in food application. In particular, rheology and gelation of water-soluble gums or hydrocolloids are discussed for their effects on food quality. A guideline s also listed for the gum selection to meet the best product requirements.

Injection molding is the most widely used process for the industrial forming of plastic articles. During an injection molding process of composites, the fiber-matrix separation and fiber orientation are caused by the flow of molten polymer/fiber mixture. As a result, the product tends to be nonhomogeneous and anisotropic. Hence, it is very important to clarify the relations between separation·orientation and infection molding conditions. So far, there is no research on the measurement of fiber orientation using image processing. In this study, the effects of fiber content ratio and molding condition on the fiber orientation-angle distributions are studied experimentally. Using the image processing method, the fiber orientation distribution of welding parts in injection-molded products is assessed. And the effects of fiber content and injection mold shapes on the fiber orientation in case of fiber reinforced polymeric composites are studied. experimentally.

Using waste glass in concrete can cause crack and strength loss by the expansion of alkali-silica reaction(ASR). In this study, ASR expansion and properties of strength were analyzed in terms of brown waste glass content, and fibers(steel fiber, polypropylene fiber) and fiber content for reduction ASR expansion due to waste glass. In this accelerated ASTM C 1260 test of waste glass, pessimum content can not be found. Also, when used the fibers with waste g1ass, there is an effect on reduction of expansion and strength loss due to ASR between the alkali in the cement paste and the silica in the waste glass. Specially, adding 1.5 vol.% of steel fiber to 20% of waste glass the expansion ratio was reduced by 40% and flexural strength was developed by up to 110% comparing with only Waste glass ( $80^{\circ}C$$H_{2}$ O curing).

This paper presents basic study to develop high performance concrete for concrete filled tube with addition content of steel fiber. In this study, all mixtures was added to nylon fiber (1.5 kg/㎥) and steel fiber was mixed by 0, 20 and 40 kg/㎥ respectively. To evaluate the property of high performance concrete was used to various test methods which were slump flow, air content, U-box test, O-lot test and L-flow(to 300 mm, 500 mm). Also, compressive strength test was measured by ages.

The influence of fiber content of hay (low-fiber 47% NDF and high-fiber 62% NDF of DM) and concentrate level (high 50% and low 20% of ration DM) on chewing activity, passage rate and nutrient digestibility were tested on four restrict-fed (11.1 to 13.7 kg DM/d) Holstein cows in late lactation. Aspects of ruminal fermentation and digesta particle size distribution were also investigated on two ruminally cannulated (100 mm i.d.) cows of the same group of animals. All digestion parameters studied were more affected by the fiber content of the hay and its ratio to non structural carbohydrates than by the concentrate level. Giving a diet of high-fiber (62% NDF) hay and low concentrate level (20%) increased chewing activity but decreased solid passage rate and total digestibility of nutrients due to a limited availability of fermentable OM in the late cut fiber rich hay. A supplementation of high-fiber hay with 50% concentrate in the diet seems to improve the ruminal digestion of cell contents, whilst a depression of the ruminal fiber digestibility was not completely avoided. Giving a diet of low-fiber (47% NDF) hay and high concentrate level (50%) reduced markedly the chewing and rumination activity, affected negatively the rumen conditions and, consequently, the ruminal digestion of fiber. A reduction of the concentrate level from 50 to 20% in the diet of low-fiber hay improved the rumen conditions as reflected by an increase of the ruminal solid passage rate and of fiber digestibility and in a decrease of the concentration of large particles and of the mean particle size of the rumen digesta and of the faeces. Generally, it can be summarised that, (i) concentrate supplementation is not a strategy to overcome limitations of low quality (fiber-rich) hay, and (ii) increase of the roughage quality is an effective strategy in ruminant nutrition, especially when concentrate availability for ruminants is limited.
The puncture properties under various conditions were investigated for the optimum conditions to yield the best properties. Fiber aspect ratio(AR: length of fiber/diameter of fiber), interphase condition and fiber content were considered as variables which impact the puncture force and friction force. The puncture force of short-fiber reinforced rubber increases up to 3.4 times compared to the virgin material. The better interphase condition shows the higher puncture force at given fiber AR and fiber content. The friction force of the matrix and reinforced rubber with a fiber AR below 155 does not exist. The friction force of the reinforced rubber with the good interphase condition and high fiber AR is higher than puncture force of matrix. Overall, it was found that the interphase condition, fiber AR and fiber content have an important effect on the puncture properties.

This study was designed to examine changes in the physicochemical properties of extruded corn fibers with different amounts of feed moisture (30, 40, and 50%). The screw speed and die temperature were fixed to 200 rpm and $140^{\circ}C$, respectively. The crude ash, fat, and protein in corn fiber decreased from the extrusion process. The insoluble dietary fiber in corn fibers decreased, while soluble dietary fiber increased at a feed moisture of 30%. The specific length of the extruded corn fiber increased while the specific mechanical energy input, density, breaking strength, and elastic modulus decreased. The water absorption index (WAI) and reducing sugar content of the corn fibers did not significantly change, but the water soluble index (WSI) decreased as the feed moisture content of the corn fiber increased. On the other hand, the WAI of de-starched corn fiber decreased while WSI and reducing sugars increased as the feed moisture content of the corn fiber increased.

The tensile properties of short nylon6 fiber reinforced NR and SBR have been investigated as functions of diameter ratio(DR), interphase condition, fiber aspect ratio(AR), and fiber content. The short-fiber(DR=3 and AR=2) reinforced SBR did not show the dilution effect for all interphase conditions. And the short-fiber(DR=3 and AR=2) reinforced NR did not show the dilution effect except for the no-coating. The better interphase condition, the lower dilution effect at same DR. The tensile moduli are significantly improved due to fiber content and diameter ratio at same interphase condition. The pull-out force increased with the DR. The better interphase condition, the higher pull-out force at same DR. It is found that the DR and AR have an important effect on tensile properties.
The fatigue properties of short nylon66 fiber reinforced Chloroprene rubber have been investigated as functions of interphase conditions and fiber content. The spring constant of rubber decreased about 21% after the fatigue test. On the contrary, that of reinforced rubber increased in all cases. The changing rate of spring constant for reinforced rubber decreased with increasing fiber content. This means that the better interphase condition, the smaller changing rate of spring constant. Temperature of matrix increased about 2.5 times and one of reinforced rubber showed 1.7∼2 times up after the test. The changing rate of temperature for reinforced rubber during fatigue test decreased with increasing fiber content. It is found that the better interphase condition, the smaller changing rate of specimen temperature at the same fiber content. Double coatings of bonding agent 402 and rubber solution became the best interphase model in this study. And, we have investigated the possibility of applying short-fiber reinforced rubber to automotive engine mount rubber, bush and stopper.
