  • We present a quantitative analysis of the relationship between the gas dynamics and star formation history of DDO 210 which is an irregular dwarf galaxy in the local Universe. We perform profile analysis of an high-resolution neutral hydrogen (HI) data cube of the galaxy taken with the large Very Large Array (VLA) survey, LITTLE THINGS using newly developed algorithm based on a Bayesian Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) technique. The complex HI structure and kinematics of the galaxy are decomposed into multiple kinematic components in a quantitative way like 1) bulk motions which are most likely to follow the underlying circular rotation of the disk, 2) non-circular motions deviating from the bulk motions, and 3) kinematically cold and warm components with narrower and wider velocity dispersion. The decomposed kinematic components are then spatially correlated with the distribution of stellar populations obtained from the color-magnitude diagram (CMD) fitting method. The cold and warm gas components show negative and positive correlations between their velocity dispersions and the surface star formation rates of the populations with ages of < 40 Myr and 100~400 Myr, respectively. The cold gas is most likely to be associated with the young stellar populations. Then the stellar feedback of the young populations could influence the warm gas. The age difference between the populations which show the correlations indicates the time delay of the stellar feedback.

  • The aim of this study is to examine the effect of recorded video monitoring on students' self-reflection after completing their clinical performance examination. Taking into account the particular cases involved in the examination, the present study utilized history-taking, physical examination, and patient education as bases for evaluating information-establishment ability, and asking, listening, understanding, explaining, and connectedness as the bases for evaluating patient-physician interaction ability. Student self-monitoring through recorded video feedback was carried out three days after completion of their clinical performance examination. Students self-evaluated their performance with a 10-point scale before and after self-monitoring. The results of this study show that students have a general tendency to lower their own self-evaluation scores after self-monitoring. Although there was not a statistically significant change of interrelationship in the information-establishment ability evaluation, there was a meaningful change of interrelationship in the patient-physician interaction ability evaluation after self-monitoring; specifically, in the case of acute lower abdominal pain, a high correlation was found (r=0.31, p=0.02) between the evaluation scores of standardized patients and students related to patient-physician interaction ability. This implies that self-monitoring enables the students to acquire a reflective viewpoint from which to evaluate their own performance. Therefore, it can be said that self-monitoring through recorded video feedback is a valuable method for students to use in reviewing their performance in patient-physician interactions.

  • A fatigue test was used to evaluate the fatigue life of an actual structure. The loaded state and the constraint condition of an actual structure must be same as the specimen in order to apply the test results to an actual structure by the specimen. The loaded state and constraint conditions can't be same as the specimen in the actual structure which is complicated. In order to reduce these differences, an actual structure test with a lot of frequencies is need to get a fatigue life curve. Therefore, ten sets of accelerated test units which attached unbalanced mass were composed in this study. Acceleration history about the vibration of an actual structure was acquired. Rainflow counting was used on acceleration history, and the life curve return formula was assumed. The return formula that damage satisfied `1' was acquired in a feedback process by the Miner's rule, which was the linear cumulative damage theory. A conservative fatigue life curve was determined with a return formula to have been presumed by each set. The fatigue life of regular rpm condition was calculated by these conservative fatigue life curves.

  • The purpose of this study is to improve education program for Informal Science Education Institution by analyzing education program of Natural History Museum, one of informal science education institution. This research subject is Seodaemun Museum of Natural History, located in Seodaemun-Gu, Seoul. It is Public Natural History Museum, which runs more than 60 education programs every year continuously for recent 6 years. Objects of this study are 32 education programs for 3rd to 6th grade of elementary school. The result of study shows that teaching materials of programs, run by informal science education institution, don't contain enough script and activity for improving creativity and inquiring mind. As the result of the study, it is required that guidance plan of education program be developed with more activities, teaching method and script, to seek quality of class than quantity of that when developing education program of science education institutes. And it is required to develop teaching material using creative technique and to improve medium and long term program for development of feedback.

  • This paper introduces the MPEG-4 video frame-based bitrate control methodology using two dimensional history pool and a sliding window. Proposed method preferentially clusters the encoded results according to the image characteristics and stores those results into the 2 dimensional history pool. Among the stored results in the pool, the sliding window collects the encoded results whose characteristics are very similar to the image frame to be encoded. Feedback regression is finally carried out bated on the collected results. Therefore proposed method can actively adapt to the rapid varying image characteristics by reducing the occurrences of the extrapolations when determining the quantization steps. Proposed method has better performances than the MPEG-4 frame-based bitrate control algorithm by evaluating with the actually encoded bits per frame, encoded PSNR's, and frame skips.

  • This paper reviews the requirements for far-infrared astronomy in the period following the SPICA satellite in the late 2020's. We take a very long view of the state of FIR astronomy and what facilities will be required in a twenty year timeframe. We show that spatial resolution to match that of observatories operating in the optical and mid-infrared and the radio will be a necessity. Moreover this high spatial resolution must be combined with high spectral and photometric sensitivity to provide the data required to further our understanding of planetary formation mechanisms, the history of star formation through cosmic time and the feedback between active galactic nuclei and their host galaxies in controlling star formation. We review three possible conceptual mission scenarios and comment on the possibility of realising them in the coming deades.

  • An apparel products retrieval system was proposed in which users can refer to products using Kansei evaluation values. The system adopts relevance feedback using history of the retrieval to learn the tendency of user evaluation. The system is based on a vector space retrieval model using products images expression as semantic scales. The system makes a query from user inputting information and retrieves closest products from the database. Revising algorithms of the difference method. linear multiple regression performed to investigate the effectiveness and criteria of the search. As a result of evaluation of the accuracy, it was found that the linear multiple regression and the neural network models are effective for the retrieval considering the individual Kansei.

  • We have performed our first cosmological hydrodynamic simulation using the recently developed SPH+GOPTM code that includes radiative cooling/heating, star formation, and supernova feedback. Here we present preliminary results from the simulation $3.4{\times}10^4M_{\odot}$, thus sub-galactic structures, such as satellite galaxies and globular clusters around a host galaxy, can be resolved with more than hundred particles. We follow formation and evolution of the sub-galactic structures in view of their star formation history, merging/accretion rate, and origins.
