In this paper, the relationship between a slave robot and the uncertain remote environment is modeled as the impedance to generate the virtual force to feed back to the operator. For the control of a tele-operated mobile robot equipped with camera, the tele-operated mobile robot take pictures of remote environment and sends the visual information back to the operator over the Internet. Because of the limitation of communication bandwidth and narrow view-angles of camera, it is not possible to watch the environment clearly, especially shadow and curved areas. To overcome this problem, the virtual force is generated according to both the distance between the obstacle and robot and the approaching velocity of the obstacle. This virtual force is transferred back to the master over the Internet and the master(two degrees of freedom joystick), which can generate force, enables a human operator to estimate the position of obstacle in the remote environment. By holding this master, in spite of limited visual information, the operator can feel the spatial sense against the remote environment. This force reflection improves the performance of a tele-operated mobile robot significantly.
It is difficult to feed welding wire stably, when the distance between welding wire feeder and welding torch is far enough. In order to solve this problem, arranging a extension wire feeder between them could be one of useful methods. However, the welding wire could be twisted up in the extension cable between extension and terminal wire feeders in the case that RPM of extension wire feeding motor is higher than that of terminal motor. In this study, feeding problem of normal push-pull wire feeding system occurred at low welding current range less than 250A. In order to solve the problem, two new wire feeding systems of push-pull type were introduced. Welding wire feeding tests were preformed in the range of 150A to 400A with the developed push-pull feeding system. In addition, weldability test was performed at the welding current of 200A, 300A, and 400A. The welding wire twisting problem that was observed in the normal feeding system did not occur in the new push-pull wire feeding system.

In this paper, a microstrip array antenna capacitively coupled to a microstrip line is studied. The array antenna consists of uniformly spaced rectangular microstrip patches arranged close to a feeding microstrip line on a grounded dielectric substrate. The effects of various parameters, such as strip width and length, distance between adjacent patches, gap between strip patches and microstrip feed line, on the antenna performance were examined. By properly adjusting geometrical parameters, the array suitable for a high gain antenna for use in a frequency band centered at 12.5 GHz was designed.

Convolutional Networks (ConvNets) are powerful models that learn hierarchies of visual features, which could also be used to obtain image representations for transfer learning. The basic pipeline for transfer learning is to first train a ConvNet on a large dataset (source task) and then use feed-forward units activation of the trained ConvNet as image representation for smaller datasets (target task). Our key contribution is to demonstrate superior performance of multiple ConvNet layer features over single ConvNet layer features. Combining multiple ConvNet layer features will result in more complex feature space with some features being repetitive. This requires some form of feature selection. We use AdaBoost with single stumps to implicitly select only distinct features that are useful towards classification from concatenated ConvNet features. Experimental results show that using multiple ConvNet layer activation features instead of single ConvNet layer features consistently will produce superior performance. Improvements becomes significant as we increase the distance between source task and the target task.
An edge tone is the discrete tone or narrow-band sound produced by an oscillating free shear layer impinging on a rigid surface. In this paper we present a two-dimensional edge tone to predict the frequency characteristics of the discrete oscillations of a jet-edge feedback cycle by the finite difference lattice Boltzmann method. We use a new lattice BGK compressible fluid model that has an additional term and allow larger time increment comparing a conventional FDLB model, and also use a boundary fitted coordinates. The jet is chosen long enough in order to guarantee the parabolic velocity profile of the jet at the outlet, and the edge consists of a wedge with an angle of ${\alpha}=23^{\circ}$ . At a stand-off distance ${\omega}$ , the edge is inserted along the centreline of the jet, and a sinuous instability wave with real frequency f is assumed to be created in the vicinity of the nozzle and to propagate towards the downstream. We have succeeded in capturing very small pressure fluctuations result from periodically oscillation of jet around the edge. That pressure fluctuations propagate with the sound speed. Its interaction with the wedge produces an irrotational feedback field which, near the nozzle exit, is a periodic transverse flow producing the singularities at the nozzle lips.
An edgetone is the discrete tone or narrow-band sound produced by an oscillating free shear layer, impinging on a rigid surface. In this paper, 2-dimensional edgetone to predict the frequency characteristics of the discrete oscillations of a jet-edge feedback cycle is presented using lattice Boltmznan model with 21 bits, which is introduced a flexible specific heat ratio y to simulate diatomic gases like air. The blown jet is given a parabolic inflow profile for the velocity, and the edges consist of wedges with angle 20 degree (for symmetric wedge) and 23 degree (for inclined wedge), respectively. At a stand-off distance w, the edge is inserted along the centerline of the jet, and a sinuous instability wave with real frequency is assumed to be created in the vicinity of the nozzle exit and to propagate towards the downward. Present results presented have shown in capturing small pressure fluctuating resulting from periodic oscillation of the jet around the edge. The pressure fluctuations propagate with the speed of sound. Their interaction with the wedge produces an irrotational feedback field which, near the nozzle exit, is a periodic transverse flow producing the singularities at the nozzle lips. It is found that, as the numerical example, satisfactory simulation results on the edgetone can be obtained for the complex flow-edge interaction mechanism, demonstrating the capability of the lattice Boltzmann model with flexible specific heat ratio to predict flow-induced noises in the ventilating systems of ship.

This paper describes a design for linear polarization antenna using the EMCD (electromagnetically coupled dipole). The analysis and the design of model antennas are conducted by FDTD method. Vertical and horizontal linear polarizations are easily obtained by variation of dipole position. In 1-element antenna design, mutual coupling between microstrip feed line and radiator is considered. Design parameters of each 1-element antenna with vertical and horizontal polarization are used for array design. Radiation power and main beam tilting angle can be controlled by the offset and the distance between radiating elements in an array, respectively. 5-element array antennas are fabricated and measured to prove the design validity. The results of FDTD simulation and measurement show the reasonable agreement.
This paper proposed a simple method for measuring surface roughness of ground surface. Utilizing non-contact in-process measuring system using the diode laser. The measurement system is consisted of a laser unit with a diode laser and a cylindrical lens, a detecting unit with polygon mirror and CCD array sensor, and a signal processing unit with a computer and device. During operation, this measuring system can provide information on surface roughness in the measuring distance with a single sampling and simultaniously monitor the state of the grind wheel. The experimental results, showed that the Increase of the feed rate and the dressing speed an caused increase in the surface roughness and when the surface roughness is 4Rmax-10Rmax, the cutting speed is 1653m/min-1665m/min, the table speed is 0.2n1/min -0.9m/min, the dressing speed is 0.2mm/rev~0.4mm/rev, the stylus method and the in-process method can be obtained the same results. Thus, under limited working conditions, using the proposed system, the surface roughness of the ground surface during cylindrical grinding can be obtained through the in-process measurement method using the diode laser.

In this paper, a broadband microstrip antenna for PCS and IMT-2000 service is designed. To obtain the broadband characteristics of an antenna, we utilized the multi-layered structure composed of two foam material layers, parasitic element and aperture coupled feeding network. The broadband characteristic is obtained by changing the size of parasitic element and the height of foam materials. In addition to that, the usage of metal layer at the distance of λ/4 from feed-line, back radiation is reduced. The bandwidth of a single element for VSWR less than 1.3 is about 550MHz. The bandwidth of a designed 1$\times$4 array antenna for VSWR less than 1.3 is about 460MHz. The gain of a designed array antenna is about 11.15∼12.15dBi and the front-to-back ratio is about 30dB.
