The current study presents a geometric measurement and analysis of the section profile for a feature line surface on an automotive outer panel. A feature line surface is the geometry which is a visually noticeable creased line on a smooth panel. In the current study the section profile of a feature line surface is analyzed geometrically. The section profile on the real press panel was measured using a coordinate measuring machine. The section profiles from the CAD model and the real panel are aligned using the same coordinate system defined by two holes near the feature line. In the aligned section profiles the chord length and height of the curved part were measured and analyzed. The results show that the feature line surface on the real panel is doubled in width size.
In the recognition of similar patterns like profile contours of human faces, feature measure plays important role. We extracted effective and general feature by B-spline approximation. The nodes and vertices of the approximated curve are normalized and used as features. Since the features have both local property of curvature extrema and global property by B-spline approximation, they are superior to those of curvature extrema of the profile contour. For the image data of six sets of 56 persons, some of which are ill-made, averaged accuracy rate of 97.6 % is obtained in recognizing combinational 333 test samples.
This paper proposes a new feature extraction method for automatically estimating the number of target and detecting the chaff using high range resolution profile(HRRP). Feature of one-dimensional range profile is expected to be limited or missing due to lack of information according to the time. The proposed method considers the dynamic movements of targets depending on the radial velocity. The observed HRRP sequence is used to construct a time-range distribution matrix, then assuming diverse radial velocities reflect the number of target and seduction chaff launch, the proposed method utilizes the characteristic of the gradient distribution on the time-range distribution matrix image, which is validated by electromagnetic computation data and dynamic simulation.

The rapid proliferation of wireless networks and mobile computing applications has changed the landscape of network security. Anomaly detection is a pattern recognition task whose goal is to report the occurrence of abnormal or unknown behavior in a given system being monitored. This paper presents a dynamic anomaly detection scheme that can effectively identify a group of especially harmful internal masqueraders in cellular mobile networks. Our scheme uses the trace data of wireless application layer by a user as feature value. Based on the feature values, the use pattern of a mobile's user can be captured by rough sets, and the abnormal behavior of the mobile can be also detected effectively by applying a roughness membership function with both the age of the user profile and weighted feature values. The performance of our scheme is evaluated by a simulation. Simulation results demonstrate that the anomalies are well detected by the proposed dynamic scheme that considers the age of user profiles.
As manufacturing industries become globalized, product design affects every area of organization. The design sets the goals for a number of different departments, so if it fails to effectively communicate these goals, the entire organization is less efficient. In addition, To communicate clearly, the design must represent a product that meets its technical specification. GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) is one of the most important factors, which has an effect on efficiency of manufacture system, in designing products. However, most of designers in different industries are prone to ignore the importance of GD&T. To analyse the importance of GD&T compliance with international standards for design drawing, a comparison analysis of the difference between two methods, composite profile control and multiple single segment profile control, is performed on three different cases and suggests how it used to be more suitable. Composite profile tolerance is specified by a dual feature control frame that has one profile symbol specified with two lines of tolerance information. Whereas a multiple single segment profile control is when two or more single segment profile callouts are used to define the location and/or orientation and/or size and/or form of a part feature. In this study, the following results will be provided : a clear definition and an obvious difference of the tolerance zone, datums and datums sequence and minimization of tolerances. On this study, composite profile tolerance and multiple single segment profile tolerance were discussed. Next steps of research will consist on reaching more accurate results for profile control. Further research will be focused on dealing with the remaining 14 symbols of GD&T.
This paper uses genetic algorithm (GA) for optimal control. GA can find optimal control profile, but the profile may be oscillating feature. To make profile smooth, fuzzy genetic algorithm (FGA) is proposed. GA with fuzzy logic techniques for optimal control can make optimal control profile smooth. We describe the Fuzzy Genetic Algorithm that uses a fuzzy knowledge based system to control GA search. Result from the simulation example shows that GA can find optimal control profile and FGA makes a performance improvement over a simple GA.

Metal additive manufacturing (AM), also known as metal three-dimensional (3D) printing, produces 3D metal products by repeatedly adding and solidifying metal materials layer by layer. During the metal AM process, products experience repeated local melting and cooling using a laser or electron beam, resulting in product defects, such as warpage, cracks, and internal pores. Such defects adversely affect the final product. This paper proposes the in situ monitoring-based warpage prediction of metal AM products with experimental feature extraction. The temperature profile of the metal AM substrate during the process was experimentally collected. Time-domain features were extracted from the temperature profile, and their relationships to the warpage mechanism were investigated. The standard deviation showed a significant linear correlation with warpage. The findings from this study are expected to contribute to optimizing process parameters for metal AM warpage reduction.

The ability to characterize feature objects from radar readings is often limited by simply looking at their still frame reflectivity, differential reflectivity and differential phase data. In many cases, time-series study of these objects' reflectivity profile is required to properly characterize features objects of interest. This paper introduces a novel technique to automatically track multiple 3D radar structures in C,S-band in real-time using Doppler radar and profile their characteristic reflectivity distribution in time series. The extraction of reflectivity profile from different radar cluster structures is done in three stages: 1. static frame (zone-linkage) clustering, 2. dynamic frame (evolution-linkage) clustering and 3. characterization of clusters through time series profile of reflectivity distribution. The two clustering schemes proposed here are applied on composite multi-layers CAPPI (Constant Altitude Plan Position Indicator) radar data which covers altitude range of 0.25 to 10 km and an area spanning over hundreds of thousands $km^2$. Discrete numerical simulations show the validity of the proposed technique and that fast and accurate profiling of time series reflectivity distribution for deformable 3D radar structures is achievable.
We present an updated version of the multilayer spectral inversion (MLSI) recently proposed as a technique to infer the physical parameters of plasmas in the solar chromosphere from a strong absorption line. In the original MLSI, the absorption profile was constant over each layer of the chromosphere, whereas the source function was allowed to vary with optical depth. In our updated MLSI, the absorption profile is allowed to vary with optical depth in each layer and kept continuous at the interface of two adjacent layers. We also propose a new set of physical requirements for the parameters useful in the constrained model fitting. We apply this updated MLSI to two sets of Hα and Ca II line spectral data taken by the Fast Imaging Solar Spectrograph (FISS) from a quiet region and an active region, respectively. We find that the new version of the MLSI satisfactorily fits most of the observed line profiles of various features, including a network feature, an internetwork feature, a mottle feature in a quiet region, and a plage feature, a superpenumbral fibril, an umbral feature, and a fast downflow feature in an active region. The MLSI can also yield physically reasonable estimates of hydrogen temperature and nonthermal speed as well as Doppler velocities at different atmospheric levels. We conclude that the MLSI is a very useful tool to analyze the Hα line and the Ca II 8542 line spectral daya, and will promote the investigation of physical processes occurring in the solar photosphere and chromosphere.
