Preparation of Al@Fe2O3 Core-Shell Composites Using Amphiphilic Graft Copolymer Template

  • A graft copolymer of poly(vinyl chloride)-g-poly(oxyethylene methacrylate) (PVC-g-POEM) was synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) and used as a structure-directing agent to prepare $Al@Fe_2O_3$ core-shell nanocomposites through a sol-gel process. The amphiphilic property of PVC-g-POEM allows for good dispersion of Al particles and leads to specific interaction with iron ethoxide, a precursor of $Fe_2O_3$. Secondary bonding interaction in the sol-gel composites was characterized by Fourier transform-infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy. The well-organized morphology of $Al@Fe_2O_3$ core-shell nanocomposites was observed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used to analyze the elemental composition and crystallization structure of the composites.

Memory Characteristics of High Density Self-assembled FePt Nano-dots Floating Gate with High-k $Al_2O_3$ Blocking Oxide

  • In this letter, We have investigated cell characteristics of the alloy FePt-NDs charge trapping memory capacitors with high-k $Al_2O_3$ dielectrics as a blocking oxide. The capacitance versus voltage (C-V) curves obtained from a representative MOS capacitor embedded with FePt-NDs synthesized by the post deposition annealing (PDA) treatment process exhibit the window of flat-band voltage shift, which indicates the presence of charge storages in the FePt-NDs. It is shown that NDs memory with high-k $Al_2O_3$ as a blocking oxide has performance in large memory window and low leakage current when the diameter of ND is below 2 nm. Moreover, high-k $Al_2O_3$ as a blocking oxide increases the electric field across the tunnel oxide, while reducing the electric field across the blocking layer. From this result, this device can achieve lower P/E voltage and lower leakage current. As a result, a FePt-NDs device with high-k $Al_2O_3$ as a blocking oxide obtained a~7V reduction in the programming voltages with 7.8 V memory.

Electrochemical Properties and Thermal Stability of LiNi0.8Co0.15 Al0.05O2-LiFePO4 Mixed Cathode Materials for Lithium Secondary Batteries

  • We prepared various $LiNi_{0.8}Co_{0.15}Al_{0.05}O_2-LiFePO_4$ mixed-cathode electrodes by changing the content of $LiNi_{0.8}Co_{0.15}Al_{0.05}O_2$ and $LiFePO_4$ used, and we analyzed the electrochemical characteristics of the cathodes. We found that the reversible specific capacity of the cathodes increased and that the capacity retention ratios of the cathodes decreased during cycling as the content of $LiNi_{0.8}Co_{0.15}Al_{0.05}O_2$ increased. Conversely, we found that although the reversible specific capacity of the cathodes decreased because of the material composition, the cycle property of the cathodes increased when the $LiFePO_4$ content increased. We analyzed the thermal stability of the $LiNi_{0.8}Co_{0.15}Al_{0.05}O_2-LiFePO_4$ mixed-material cathodes by differential scanning calorimetry and found that it increased as the $LiFePO_4$ content increased.

Rod Milling과 Chemical Leaching에 의해 제작된 비평형 Al(Fe-Cu) 합금 분말의 결정화 및 자기적 특성 (Crystallization and Magnetic Properties of Non-Equilibrium Al(Fe-Cu) Alloy Powders Produced by Rod Milling and Chemical Leaching)

  • We report the crystallization and magnetic properties of non-equilibrium $Al_{0.6}(Fe_{x}Cu_{1-x})_{0.4}(x=0.25, 0.50, 0.75)$ alloy powders produced by rod-milling as well as by new chemical leaching. X-ray diffractometry, transmission electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry and vibrating sample magnetometry were used to characterize the as-milled and leached specimens. After 400 h or 500 h milling, only the broad peaks of nano bcc crystalline phases were detected in the XRD patterns. The crystallite size, the peak and the crystallization temperatures increased with increasing Fe. After being annealed at $600{^\circ}C$ for 1 h for as-milled alloy powders, the peaks of bcc $AlCu_{4}\;and\;Al_{13}Cu_{4}Fe_{3}\;for\;x=0.25,\;bcc\;AlCu_{4}\;and\;Al_{5}Fe_{2}\;for\;x=0.50,\;and\;Al_{5}Fe_{2},\;and\;Al_{0.5}Fe_{0.5}\;for\;x=0.75$ are observed. After being annealed at $500{^\circ}\;and\;600{^\circ}C$for 1 h for leached specimens, these non-equi-librium phases transformed into fcc Cu and $CuFe_{2}O_{4}$phases for the x=0.25 specimen, and into bcc ${\alpha}-Fe,\;fcc\;Cu,\;and\;CuFe_{2}O_{4}$ phases for both the x=0.50 and the x=0.75 specimens. The saturation magnetization decreased with increasing milling time for $Al_{0.6}(Fe_{x}Cu_{1-x})_{0.4}$ alloy powders. On cooling the leached specimens from $800{\~}850^{\circ}C$,\;the magnetization first sharply increase at about $491.4{\circ}C,\;745{\circ}C,\;and\;750.0{\circ}C$ for x=0.25, x=0.50, and x=0.75 specimens, repectively.

  • Iron nitride alloy films prepared in the form of laminated ${(Fe_{97}Al_3)}_{85}N_{15}/Al_2O_3$ multilayers (Ml's) due to excellent soft magnetic properties and high saturation magnetization [1, 2] are very promising materials for poles and shields in ultra high density thin film heads. The present work concerns the ferromagnetic (FM) coupling effect as a function of the thickness of $Al_2O_3$ spacers by analysis of the magnetic domain structure.

  • In this study, dielectric and piezoelectric properties of 0.05Pb(AlS12/3TWS11/3T)OS13T-0.95Pb(ZrS10.52TTiS10.48T)OS13T system ceramics were investigated with respect to the variations of MnOS12T and FeS12TOS13T additions amounts. The results obtained in this study are summarized as follows: 1. As the amounts of MnOS12T and FeS12TOS13T are increased, tetragonality(c/a) and apparent density were decreased but grain size was increased, also the limits of solubility were revealed because pores were formed at the amounts of 0.3wt% MnOS12T and 0.5wt% FeS12TOS13T. 2. AS the increasing of amounts of MnOS12T and FeS12TOS13T, the temperature of phase transition(TS1cT) was decreased, and pemeability had maximum value at the amount of 0.3wt% MnOS12T but were sharply decreasd for the increasing FeS12TOS13T amounts. 3. As the amounts of MnOS12T and FeS12TOS13T are increased, the electro-mechanical coupling factor(kS1pT) was decreased from 60% to 41%, 19% respectively, but mechanical quality factor(QS1mT) had maximum values 720 for amount of 0.3wt% MnOS12T and 320 the amount of 0.5wt% FeS12TOS13T.

$Fe/CeO_{2}Fe_{75}Co_{25}$ 터널접합의 잔기저항효과 (Magnetroresistance Effect of $Fe/CeO_{2}Fe_{75}Co_{25}$ Tunnel Junctions)

  • A series of Fe/CeO$_2$/Fe$_{75}$Co$_{25}$ tunnel junctions (Magnetic Tunnel Junction, MTJ) having CeO$_2$ barrier layers from 30 to 90$\AA$ in thickness were prepared by ion beam sputtering (IBS) method. In order to compare the properties of MTJs, Fe/Al oxide/Fe-Co tunnel junctions were also prepared. Some junctions with a CeO$_2$ barrier layer showed the ferromagnetic tunneling effect and the highest MR ratio at room temperature was 5%. The electric resistance of junctions with a CeO$_2$ barrier layer was higher that that of junctions with an Al oxide barrier. On the other hand, The interface analysis of the Fe/CeO$_2$ bilayer was conducted by means of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). It was found that CeO$_2$ was decomposed to Ce and $O_2$ during sputtering, and Fe was oxidized with these decomposed $O_2$ molecules. The reduction of both electric resistance and MR ratio may be associated with the decomposed Ce in the barrier layer.r.r.

인공 산성광산배수의 pH변화에 의한 중금속 제거 및 침전 특성 연구 (Characteristics of Removal and Precipitation of Heavy Metals with pH change of Artificial Acid Mine Drainage)

  • 본 연구에서는 pH 변화에 따른 인공 산성광산배수로부터 중금속 제거와 침전물 생성에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 인공 산성광산배수는 폐광산에서 유출되는 산성광산배수에 다량 포함된 Fe, Al, Cu, Zn, Mn의 황산염을 이용하여 제조하였다. 실험은 5가지의 중금속에 대하여 초기 농도 30과 70 mg/L의 단일 및 혼합 시료를 이용하여 수행하였다. Fe와 Al은 각각 pH 4.0과 5.0에서 대부분 제거되었으며 그 외 중금속은 pH가 증가함에 따라 서서히 감소하였다. 단일 및 혼합 중금속 시료에 대한 pH 증가에 따른 농도 변화는 대체로 유사한 경향을 나타낸다. 수용액으로부터 중금속 제거 효과는 초기 농도와 관계없이 유사한 경향을 나타내고 pH 변화에 따라 확연한 차이를 나타낸다. X-선회절분석을 이용하여 침전물에 대한 광물 감정을 수행하였으며 pH가 증가함에 따라 결정도가 증가하는 경향을 나타낸다. 수용액 내에 중금속 농도가 감소하면서 생성되는 침전물은 Fe-침철석(FeOOH), Al-배사알루미나이트(Al4(SO4)(OH)10·4H2O), Cu-코넬라이트Cu19(OH)32(SO4)Cl4·3H2O)와 테놀라이트(tenorite: CuO), Zn-진사이트(ZnO), Mn-하우스마나이트(Mn3O4)이다.
