Corrosion Failure Diagnosis of Rolling Bearing with SVM (SVM 기법을 적용한 구름베어링의 부식 고장진단)

  • A rotor is a crucial component in various mechanical assemblies. Additionally, high-speed and high-efficiency components are required in the automotive industry, manufacturing industry, and turbine systems. In particular, the failure of high-speed rotating bearings has catastrophic effects on auxiliary systems. Therefore, bearing reliability and fault diagnosis are essential for bearing maintenance. In this work, we performed failure mode and effect analysis on bearing rotors and determined that corrosion is the most critical failure type. Furthermore, we conducted experiments to extract vibration characteristic data and preprocess the vibration data through principle component analysis. Finally, we applied a machine learning algorithm called support vector machine to diagnose the failure and observed a classification performance of 98%.

  • In our daily life, artificial intelligence performs simple and complicated tasks like us, including operating mobile phones and working at homes and workplaces. Artificial intelligence is used in industrial technology for diagnosing various types of equipment using the machine learning technology. This study presents a fault mode effect analysis (FMEA) of start motors using machine learning and big data. Through multiple data collection, we observed that the primary failure of the start motor was caused by the melting of the magnetic switch inside the start motor causing it to fail. Long-short-term memory (LSTM) was used to diagnose the condition of the magnetic locations, and synthetic data were generated using the synthetic minority oversampling technique (SMOTE). This technique has the advantage of increasing the data accuracy. LSTM can also predict a start motor failure.

  • In the case of helicopters, the development of parts technology is rapidly changing, and the complexity is rapidly increasing. Particularly, the surge of various electric and electronic systems is recognized as a problem that is directly related to the safety of the helicopter. Due to these problems, there is a growing interest in reliability evaluation in the face of the problem of confirming and certifying the reliability of parts in the development stage. In this paper, the analysis of the failure mechanism of the wiper system was carried out, and the priority and importance of each failure mode were checked by using the results, and major stress factors were derived and the corresponding acceleration model was selected. Also, the accelerated lifetime test time was calculated according to the life test time, acceleration status and acceleration level of the steady state by using the selected acceleration model and characteristic values.

A New Logic Transformation Method for Both Low Power and High Testability (저 전력소모와 높은 테스트용이성을 위한 새로운 논리 변환 방법)

  • In this paper, a new logic transformation method to consider both low power consumption and high testability is proposed. We search the CFF(Compact Fanout Free) that has low probability of being observable at the primary outputs. Under the condition that the CFF is unobservable at all primary outputs, the switching operations in it can be removed by adding redundant connections into it. The testability of the transformed circuit generally tends to reduce. In our method, however, the inserted redundant connections operate as test points in the test mode and can improve not only the controllability but also the observability of the CFF. The transformed circuit consumes less power in the normal mode and also has higher testability in the test mode. To show the efficiency of the proposed logic transformation method, we perform some experiments on the MCNC benchmark test circuits. The results show that the power consumption of the transformed circuit is reduced by 13% maximally and the fault coverage of the transformed circuit is increased.

  • The seismic evaluation of electric power facilities in the switchyard of nuclear power plants is currently insufficient. In order to evaluate the seismic performance of lightning arrester subjected to four types of earthquake (near- and far-fault earthquakes, NEHRP Site Class A&B and D earthquakes), seismic fragility analysis using maximum likelihood estimation is performed considering various damage states. The comparison of the seismic fragility curves for three main parts of lightning arrester that are the busing, anchor and steel frame, reveals that the failure of lightning arrester is governed by the bushing damage mode such as porcelain cracking.

The Failure Mode Effect Analysis(FMEA), MIL-HDBK-217F, and Makov modelling techniques are used for availability assessment.

  • In this paper, a novel test method is proposed to detect hard and soft fault in CMOS operational amplifiers. Proposed test method mark use of the offset character, which is one of the op-amps characteristics. During the test mode, CUT is implemented to unit gain op-amps with feedback loop. When the input is grounded, a good circuit has a small offset voltage, but a faulty circuit has a large offset voltage exceeding predefined range of tolerance. Using the proposed method, no test vector is required to be applied. Therefore the test vector generation problem is eliminated and the test time is reduced. The accuracy and effectiveness of the method is verified through HSPICE simulation.

Safety Assessment of LNG Transferring System subjected to gas leakage using FMEA and FTA

  • The paper considers the practical application of the FMEA(Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) method to assess the operational reliability of the LNG(Liquefied Natural Gas) transfer system, which is a potential problem for the connection between the LNG FPSO and LNG carrier. Hazard Identification (HAZID) and Hazard operability (HAZOP) are applied to identify the risks and hazards during the operation of LNG transfer system. The approach is performed for the FMEA to assess the reliability based on the detection of defects typical to LNG transfer system. FTA and FMEA associated with a probabilistic risk database to the operation scenarios are applied to assess the risk. After providing an outline of the safety assessment procedure for the operational problems of system, safety assessment example is presented, providing details on the fault tree of operational accident, safety assessment, and risk measures.

  • A GPS/SDINS/ST(Star Tracker) integrated sensor algorithm is more robust than the GPS/SDINS and the ST/SDINS systems on exploration of other planets. Most of the advanced studies shown that GPS/SDINS/ST integrated sensor with centralized Kalman filter was more accurate than those 2 integrated systems. The system, however, consist of a single filter, it is vulnerable to defects on failed data. To improve the problem, we work out a study using federated Kalman filter(No-Reset mode) and centralized Kalman filter with adaptive measurement fusion which known as robustness on fault. The simulation results show that the debasing influences are reduced and the computation is enable at least 100Hz. Further researches that the initial calibration in accordance with observability and applying the exploration trajectory are needed.
