쇼트피닝 가공된 해양구조용강의 피로파괴에 미치는 응력비의 영향 (Effect of Stress Ratio on Fatigue Fracture of a Shot Peening Marine Structural Steel)

  • The lightness of components required in the automobile and machine industry necessitates the use of high strength components. In particular, the fatigue failure phenomena, which occurs when using metal, increases the danger to human life and property. Therefore, antifatigue failure technology is an integral part of current industries. Currently, the shot peening is used for removing the defect from the surface of steel, while improving the fatigue strength on surface. Therefore, in this paper, the effect of compressive residual stress of spring steel(JISG SUP-9) by shot-peening on fatigue crack growth characteristics in a stress ratio(R=0.1, R=0.3, R=0.6) was investigated, giving consideration to fracture mechanics. By using the methods mentioned above, following conclusions are drawn: (1) The fatigue crack growth rate(da/dN) of the shot-peening material was lower than that of the un-peening material and in stage I, ΔKth, the threshold stress intensity factor of the shot-peen processed material is high in critical parts, unlike the un-peening material. Also m, fatigue crack growth exponent and number of cycle of the shot-peening material, was higher than that of the un-peening material, as concluded from effect of da/dN. (2) Fatigue life shows more improvement in the shot-peening material than in the un-peening material, and the compressive residual stress of surface on the shot-peen processed operate resistance of fatigue crack propagation.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 마찰교반용접된 Al7075-T651의 피로균열전파 거동에 미치는 시험편의 채취방향의 영향을 고찰하기 위한 것이다. 피로균열전파 실험은 마찰교반용접된 공시재로부터 모재와 용접재에 대하여 CT 시험편을 채취하여 일정응력확대계수범위 제어하에서 수행되었다. 균열이 용접선에 수직하여 전파하는 것(TL 시험편으로 명명)과 균열이 용접선과 나란히 전파하는 시험편(LT 시험편으로 명명)에 대하여 3가지 다른 응력확대계수범위에서 실험이 수행되었다. 시험편의 채취 방향에 따라 피로균열전파거동에 주요한 영향을 미침을 알 수 있었다. Paris 법칙에 적합시킨 결과 지수 m값은 WM-LT 시험편이 3.56으로 가장 높게 나타났다.

  • 본 논문의 목적은 AZ31 마그네슘합금의 균열성장거동의 경향을 묘사할 수 있는 실험적 피로균열전파모델을 시편두께 조건에서 평가하여 적합한 모델을 제시하는 것이다. 평가에 사용된 실험적 모델은 Paris-Erdogan 모델, Walker 모델, Forman 모델, 수정된 Forman 모델이며, 각 모델의 파라미터를 통계적으로 추정하기 위하여 최우추정법을 사용하였다. 두께조건이 피로균열전파거동 예측에 미치는 영향을 고려하면서 적합한 모델을 평가하기 위해 시편두께의 3가지 조건을 변화시키면서 피로균열전파실험을 수행하여 통계적 균열성장 데이터를 획득하였다. 시편두께 조건에 따라 마그네슘합금의 균열성장거동의 경향을 잘 묘사하는 모델은 Paris-Erdogan 모델과 Walker 모델이며, 모델의 파라미터 중 피로균열성장속도지수는 시편두께가 4.75mm와 6.60mm 조건에서 재료상수가 될 수 있음을 밝혀내었다. 그러나 시편두께가 두꺼운 경우에는 양상에 차이를 보이므로 모델 선정 시 신중한 판단이 요구된다.

손상허용해석을 위한 균열성장모델 교정 (Calibration of crack growth model for damage tolerance analysis)

  • This paper introduces the calibration results of the fatigue crack growth models for damage tolerance analysis of the aircraft structures. Generalized Willenborg model and Wheeler model are calibrated with experimental data tested under the load spectrum of a trainer. The retardation factors such as, shut-off ratio in Generalized Willenborg model and shaping exponent in Wheeler model, are evaluated for aluminum alloys AL2024-T3511, AL7050-T7451 and AL7075-T73511. It is shown that the retardation effect of the crack growth rate depends on the yield strength of material and the maximum stress in the load spectrum. Generalized Willenborg model and Wheeler model give satisfactory prediction of crack growth life but the calibration of the experimental parameters with test is required.

자동차 현가장치재의 부식피로수명에 따른 압축잔류응력의 영향 (The Effect of Compressive Residual Stress according to Corrosion Fatigue Life of Automobile Suspension Material)

  • A study of new materials that are light-weight, high in strength has become vital to the machinery of auto industries. But then, there are a lot of problems with developing such materials that require expensive tools, and a great deal of time and effort. Therefore, the improvement of fatigue strength and fatigue life are mainly focused on by adopting residual stress. And Influence of corrosive condition for corrosion fatigue crack was investigated, after immersing in 3.5%NaCl, $10%HNO_3$+3.5%HF, $6%FeCl_3$. The immersion period was performed for 365days. The compressive residual stress was imposed on the surface according to each shot velocity based on shot peening, which is the method of improving fatigue life and strength. Fatigue life shows more improvement in the shot peened material than in the un peened material in corrosion conditions. The threshold stress intensity factor range was decreased in corrosion environments over ambient. Compressive residual stress of surface on the Shot-peen processed operate resistance force of fatigue crack propagation. The fatigue crack growth rate of the Shot-peened material was lower than that of the un peened material. Also m, fatigue crack growth exponent and number of cycle of the shot peened material was higher than that of the un peened material. That is concluded from effect of da/dN.

질화규소의 고온정피로거동 (Elevated Temperature Static Fatigue in Silicon Nitride)

  • 상압소결 질화규소에 대한 고온정피로 거동을 K-t(stress intensity/life test)법에 의해 조사하였다. 정피로 크랙성장속도는 온도의 증가와 함께 증가한다. 온도의 증가에 따라 크랙성장속도가 증가하는 이유는 온도 증가에 따라 파괴인성치가 감소하기 때문으로 판명되었다. 즉 정피로 크랙성장속도 da/dt를 da/dt=AK1m로 나타내면, 이 식의 정수 A는 파괴인성치의 파괴인성치의 함수이도, 지수 m은 온도나 파괴인성치에 관계없이 일정한 상수이다. 그러나 글래스상의 연화가 일어나는 고온의 경우 크랙성장속도는 이상의 관계로부터 벗어남을 발견하고, 그 이유에 대하여 고찰하였다.

  • The retardation effect of fatigue crack propagation after cyclic overloading seems to be affected by strain hardening exponent. Namely, for the material with high values of n, the delay effect is found to be severe. We proposed a modified crack retardation equation which may apply the retardation of fatigue crack growth after a cyclic overloading, as (da/dN)'$_{cyc}$=($\mu$n+λ)B $\Delta$ $K^{q}$ /[(1- $R_{eff}$) $K_{cf}$$\Delta$K]. where, $R_{eff}$ is effective stress ratio [=( $K_{min}$-K, os)/( $K_{max}$$K_{res}$)] The constants $\mu$=-0.5 and λ=0.6, and the values are found to be identical for materials such as aluminum (A 1060), steel (SS 34), brass ( $B_{s}$ SIB) and stainless steel (SUS 304) used in this investigation.   • 본 연구에서는 압력용기 소재인 SPV 50Q와 고압강관 소재로 사용하는 SPV 50Q 와 고압강간 소재로 사용하는 API 5A-K55에서의 표면균열의 표면방향과 깊이방향 또한 두께 평균에 대한 균열열림을 스트레인 게이지와 CMOD(Crack Mouth Opening Displace- ment)게이지를 이용하여 측정 비교하였다. 또한 표면균열의 균열 열림하중을 측정위 치에 따라 평가하고, 본연구에 사용한 두 소재에 대해 균열 열림을 고려한 표면균열 진전평가가 각 방향에 대해 이루어졌다.

Nondestructive Evaluation of the Characteristics of Degraded Materials Using Backward Radiated Ultrasound

  • The frequency dependency of Rayleigh surface wave is investigated indirectly by measuring the angular dependency of the backward radiation of the incident ultrasonic wave in two kinds of degraded specimens by scuffing or corrosion. Then, the frequency dependency is compared with the residual stress distribution or the corrosion-fatigue characteristics for the scuffed or corroded specimens, respectively. The width of the backward radiation profile increases with the increase of the variation in residual stress distribution for the scuffed specimens. In the corroded specimens, the profile width decreases with the increase of the effective aging layer thickness and is inversely proportional to the exponent, m, in the Paris' law that can predict the crack size increase due to fatigue. The result observed in this study demonstrates high potential of backward radiated ultrasound as a tool for nondestructive evaluation of subsurface gradient of material degradation generated by scuffing or corrosion.

인공해수중에서 연강 용접부의 표면구열 성장거동 (Study on Surface Crack Propagation Behaviour of Mild Steel Weldment in Synthetic Sea Water)

  • It was known that the fracture incidences of offshore structure were mostly originated from the surface defects. Especially, in the case of the welded structures, since the welded region has some defects and incomplete beads which are apt to behave like the surface cracks, it has been necessary to evaluate the environmental effects on crack growth at HAZ for the design crack growth behaviour at multi-pall HAZ for SWS41 steel under free corrosion and cathodic protection(-0.9V vs Ag/Agcl) conditions. The results are summarized as follows ; (1) Crack growth rate of the as weld in air was faster than that of the parent and PWHT specimens over all .DELTA.K rang. (2) In free corrosion test, surface crack growth rate of the as welded was decreased in comparison with that of the parents. (3) In fatigue test under cathodic protection, cathodic electric potential(-0.9V vs Ag/Agcl) for the SWS41 steel parent was effective, while for the as welded ineffective. (4) There was a tendency that the exponent(m) of the Paris' equation was decreased in order of microhardness magnititude in air and under cathodic protection conditions and vise versa in free corrosion. (5) Fracture surface has dimples and ductile striations in air test, but transgranular cracks and brittle striations under cathodic protection test.
