  • Recently, a study of Virtual-Reality becomes active. Expectation to 3-D reproduction technology rises with it. Electro-holography using Spatial-light-modulator attracts attention, because natural 3-D animated image is provided. It is important to execute hologram calculation at high speed to realize the real time electro-holography. In other words, a higher-speed computer and a study of calculation algorithm becomes an important subject. This time, we realized to fast calculation of Fresnel-Hologram by networking technology.

  • This paper proposes high speed SRM drive system for blower with a new 4-level inverter and precise excitation position generator. For the high speed blower, a proper inverter and control method are proposed and the output characteristics are analyzed. In order to get a fast build-up and demagnetization of excitation a current, 4-level inverter system is proposed. The proposed 4-level inverter has additional charge capacitor, power switch and diode in the conventional asymmetric converter. The charged high voltage is supplied to the phase winding for fast current build-up, and demagnetization current is charged to additional capacitor of 4-level inverter. In addition, a precise excitation position generator can reduce turn-on and turn-off angle error according to sampling period of digital control system. The proposed high speed SRM drive system is verified by computer simulation and experimental result.

  • This paper proposes a fast motion estimation algorithm based on motion speed and multiple initial center points. The proposed method predicts initial search points by means of the spatio-temporal neighboring motion vectors. A dynamic search pattern based on motion speed and the predicted initial center points is proposed to quickly obtain the motion vector. Due to the usage of the spatio-temporal information and the dynamic search pattern, the proposed method greatly accelerates the search speed while maintaining a good predicted image quality. Experimental results show that the proposed method has a good predicted image quality in terms of PSNR with less search time as compared to the Full Search, New Three-Step Search, and Four-Step Search.

  • This paper presents a fast and practical motion synthesis algorithm for massive number of quadruped animals. The algorithm constructs so called speed maps that contain a set of same style motions but different speed from a single cyclic motion by using IK(Inverse Kinematics) solver. Then, those speed maps are connected each other to form a motion graph. At run time, given a point trajectory that obtained from user specification or simulators, the algorithm retrieves proper speed motions from the graph, and modifies and stitches them together to create a long seamless motion in real time. Since our algorithm mainly targets on the massive quadruped animal motions, the motion graph create wide variety of different size of characters for each trajectory and automatically adjusted synthesized motions without causing artifact such as foot skating. The performance of algorithm is verified through several experiments

  • In an asymmetrical speed channel environment like asymmetric digital subscriber line, the up-link bandwidth is normally smaller than the down-link bandwidth, which will lead to extremely low utilization of down-link bandwidth when current P2P video transmission is applied. To overcome this, a new fast P2P video transmission method applied in an asymmetrical speed channel environment is proposed in this paper. On the basis of the many-to-one concept, the proposed method uses a new multipeer aggregation technique to enhance the utilization of down-link bandwidth. In addition, an adaptive peer assignment algorithm is also introduced in order to minimize the overall transmission time. Experimental results show that by using our proposed method, the utilization of down-link bandwidth is significantly improved, and the overall transmission time is greatly reduced.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the speaking rate on the duration of syllable before boundary. The materials used were four types of syllable-boundary sequences(Go-'Ga' Boundary-Gu) in a paragraph. The duration of 'Ga' syllables before 4 level of boundary was measured, and all of the measurements were taken from signals and spectrograms made by the $Signalyze^{TM}$ 3.04 for Power Mac 7200. Subjects were six female speakers who read the materials at fast, normal, and slow speed five times. The results show that (1) the slower the speaking rate becomes, the longer the duration of syllable before boundary, (2) the duration rank of syllable before each boundary does not correspond to the level of boundary, eg. at fast speed, = < #, + < $ ; at normal speed, +, #, = < $ ; at slow speed, + < =, #, $, and (3) the syllable before sentence boundary is less influenced than syllable before another boundary.

  • Automatic Operation based on ATO (Automatic Train Operation) is necessary for driverless Light Rail Transit business. When this kind of driverless LRT operation plan is made, TPS (Train Performance Simulation) is traditionally simulated at all-out mode and coasting mode based on manual operation. Commercial schedule speed equals to all-out speed minus $9{\sim}15%$ make-up margin. Coasting mode TPS simulation is also run at commercial schedule speed to calculate run time and energy consumption. But TPS based on manual operation should make an improvement on accuracy in case of driverless LRT operation Plan. In this paper, new fast mode TPS simulation using ATO pattern is proposed and show near actual ATO result. The actual ATO pattern can be accurately simulated with the introduction of 4 parameters such as commercial braking rate, jerk, station stop profile and grade converted distance. Normal mode TPS simulation for commercial schedule speed can be designed to have fast mode trip time plus 3 seconds/km margin recommended by korean standard LRT specification.

  • This paper introduces design, fabrication and experiment process of a novel scanner for the high speed AFM(Atomic Force Microscope). A proper design modification is proposed through analyses on the dynamic characteristics of the existing linear motion stages using a dynamic analysis program, Recurdyn. Since the scanning speed of each direction is allowed to be different, the linear motion stage for the high-speed scanner of AFM can be so designed to have different resonance frequencies for the modes with one dominant displacement in the desired directions. One way to achieve this objective is to use one-direction flexure mechanism for each direction and to mount one stage for fast motion on the other stage for slow motion. This unsymmetrical configuration separates the frequencies of the two vibration modes with one dominant displacement in each desired direction, hence, the coupling between the motions in the two directions. In addition, a pair of actuators is used for each axis to decrease the cross talks in the two motions and gives a force large enough to actuate the slow motion stage, which carries the fast motion stage. After these design modifications, a novel scanner with scanning speed higher than 10 Hz can be achieved to realize undistorted images in the high speed AFM.

  • The transforming process of point clouds with its local coordinates into a global coordinate is called registration. In contrast to the local registration which takes a long time to calculate and performs precision registration after initial rough positioning, the global registration calculates the corresponding points for registration and performs at once, so it is generally faster than the local registration, and can perform it regardless of the initial position. Among the global methods, the Fast Global Registration is one of the widely used methods due to its fast performance. However, lots of parameters should be set to increase the registration accuracy and speed. In this paper, after analyzing and experimenting the parameters and propose parameters that work effectively in actual registration. The proposed result will be helpful in setting the direction when it is necessary to use the Fast Global Registration method.
